I didn't even consider Brian Williams, but no, I wouldn't be surprised either.  Williams could return from the "Siberia" of cable news with the narrative of being the humbled anchorman seeking a chance at redemption.  He might not regain the evening spot, but he could use the surprising and unlikely "Today" gig as the springboard toward becoming a sort of male Barbara Walters for NBC, hosting and producing news and interview specials and the like.

You know, I'd actually welcome that?  Bryant Gumbel is a prick, but he (and Jane Pauley) also lent "Today" a certain gravitas that, IMO, they've never quite recaptured.

I’m quite perplexed at this search for a new male host. No I don’t think Savannah Gutherie is close to being strong enough, I certainly believe Gayle King and Norah O”Donnell are more than capable of carrying their show.  I don’t know what I’d do with Today since I haven’t liked it forever. But I hope they don’t get the idea of Megyn Kelly. Frankly I’d be more apt to try someone like Joy Reid who I think has more personality, can play a tad softer and be hard nose when needed, but they’d never give her that shot. And I don’t think Lack likes her. Not that he’s shown any sound judgement.

The reaction to Angela Lansbury's statements was disgusting. A bunch of Millenial fools who can't bother to read the entire statement she made.

Lauer had it coming. His cheating seemed to be an open secret. The secret lock button under his desk, as Variety reported, is disturbing. Perhaps now his wife can finally divorce him, get half of everything and custody of the kids.

@amybrickwallace I am sorry for what you went through, and can imagine how triggering all this must be. Please do take care of yourself, and hopefully your therapist is on it! Stories like yours make me so angry; these scumbags' actions leave emotional scars for years. I hate what this person did to you, it's just so evil. May karma get his a$$ good.

I would welcome Bryant back. IMO he was the best of the best along with Jane Pauley. If Jane comes back, I wouldn't mind either! Agreed with others here that Savannah is nowhere near strong enough to be carrying this show. I'm not crazy about her voice/delivery either as it makes her sound like a bimbo.

The story about Lauer being able to lock the door from his desk literally makes me want to throw up. The rape office, was it? And is Lauer a budding carpenter? How did he finagle a button like this? Or, more likely, who at NBC OKed the workmen to do this?

What is disgusting here is several posters' decision to defend Lansbury's comments simply because you like her so much and refuse to accept she's wrong. There is no taking out of context comments that basically amount to "rape is wrong, but don't wear that skirt!" If you add a "but" after stating that women should not be assaulted or raped, it nullifies the entire previous statement. If a man made those comments, you'd be calling for his head. And

at her shaming the internet. Do people overreact, swiftly and often? Yes. But welcome to 2017, Angela! Don't bother quoting me. Shame.

God. And I have the feeling we're not even hearing the half of it.

Because white manhood runs NBC and the Today show (even though their audience is largely female). And white manhood is feeling awfully needy and insecure and picked-on these days! Oh and white manhood doesn't believe that people who have to wear bras can adequately anchor a major show like Today. The hate-on for Megyn Kelly? Is likely coming as much from NBC News as it is from outside the organization.

    • Many thanks to @skylark and @DRW50!
    • Thank u so much! I love that show and the more I see of it the more I want to find more of it even if it’s just in script form. But that house and especially the room looked like Victoria Winters room from dark shadows lol  this was great find! Thanks
    • I genuinely thought when they said she had been throwing up, we were going to get a pregnancy story. I’m actually not convinced we aren’t. Especially the way she and Doug danced around her own infidelity.
    • Shouldn't it be the other way? I don't think Taylor Hayes is playing Rebecca Budig.

    • And the most detailed discussion I've seen from an industry figure about some of JFP's worst choices as a producer (steamrolling over writers) was from another woman, Megan McTavish.
    • IMDb is definitely incorrect, because the final week of episodes in 1974 is uploaded to Youtube in audio form, and Mark and Laurie are there until the very end. The last episode shows Mark going back to the priesthood. I looked at the newspaper and the earliest reference to their house being haunted by Georgina is in December of 1973. This is dated Dec 14, but this same synopsis ran in the papers until the end of December in other publications. So it must have been within those last 3-4 months. I think Stephanie Braxton joined around 1969-1970 so that's probably right. I saw it stated in other newspapers that David Gale joined around September 1972.

    • Opal having siblings could add to the story. However, it raises questions about Tad's adoption. Why were the Martins allowed to adopt him if Tad had aunts or uncles who could have cared for him?  Logic limited the number of possible Gardner's (and whatever Opal's maiden name was).  Even though Linda Thorson would have been a hysterical choice given her British accent.  Especially because SOD often published questions by readers who wondered why Tad and Jenny didn't speak like their mother.   All of which is still not an excuse for Tad's evil doppelgänger Ted.
    • And if I remember correctly, at one point, they were considering having Linda Thorson play Opal's sister.
    • Interesting. Makes me wonder how the day to day looked for Secret Storm at this point in the run. This seems very to deal with the psychological aspect, I guess the "inner storm", and the music is almost sinister. If this is from 1974 there's not much room for dates it could've been from as it ended on February 8th.  It's hard to tell from an edit featuring just one storyline, but if this was the day to day it might've been heavy for the casual viewers.   ETA: Stephanie Braxton is credited to have appeared as Laurie from 1970-1973. David Gale is credited only in 1973 and Alexander Scourby from 1972-1973. I know IMDB isn't always right, but I'd say this is likely 1973 - I'm guessing all these characters exited before 1974 and this might be a part of their final storyline.
