Is Dr. Anderson really Sheila? I hate to say it, but the deeper this gets, the more I'm kinda digging Sandy's manipulations. And, I said in December, it's great that everything doesn't go as she initially plots - like advising Nick to stay away from Sage and he ignores it. It's actually refreshing to see this kind of character not play a compete puppetmaster, but has to constantly rework when things shift.

Honestly, except for a few scenes (poor JW having to use up three months of dialogue in an OTT, illogical rant), the show has been more than watchable. At least the stories are bringing big groups of character together (with far fewer two character scenes), moving things along quickly, not having down right stupid characters (Luca immediately questioning Adam, who we know isn't going to betray Victor), integrating Luca and Marissa, the most promising and intriguing actors the show has added in a long time (I liked the Chelsea/Marissa idea, but what struck me was when JH walked in on them - Adam/Marissa - NOW that was bring us some real steam), etc.

Believe me, I thought the show would be completely off-the-rails by now, but it's now. And, even though we knew Max was somehow going to be around, I certainly did not expect them to bring him on in this manner. And, suddenly Abby/Stitch, is more than just Stitch 'rescuing' Ashley.

More than watchable?!?  Really??

Phyllis was raped by Marco repeatedly with no consequence.

Neil kidnapped Hilary and hid her in the boathouse for months, again with no consequence.  The "Doctor" that used her as a Guinea pig is now accepted as somewhat of a brilliant scientist working with Ashley at the Jabot Lab!   And the enabler Gwen has also apparently gotten away Scot-free.

The other crazy doc running around town was somehow able to convince Nick and Paprika that their baby died, engage an accomplice to steal him from the hospital and then drug Sharon into complete oblivion (apparently) to make her believe that she was actually pregnant AND gave birth!!

Apart from the stories, the show feels clunky.  Characters are off screen for weeks at a time, the stories in limbo, while other stories are told at the speed of light.

For example, our sweet heroine Sag moved out of Tac house, lived with Adam and Chelsea, then moved into her old condo and reunited with Nick all in a weeks time.  How do you get involved in a story that moves that fast.  While I'm on the subject, KSu in her scenes with Doc A yesterday was horrible.  She changes moods at the drop of a hat.

I will say Luca and Marissa are good new characters, not due to the story they've been in but the actors charisma.

Given how sloppy UpChuck has been so far I can't understand how one can say the show isn't off the rails.  It is.  In fact, it's left the rails and is a giant smoldering pile of [!@#$%^&*].

I was referring to the past month - that I've tried to just enjoy for what it is now. Off the rails - that B&B for sure. It became unwatchable in less than five weeks after being on fire for nearly a year and it hasn't recovered.  And, I agree completely on the no consequences and many of your points. How in the world could Phyllis forgive Aunty Jack when he was willing to expose her but PROMISED TO PROTECT MARISSA!!! That was a true WTF moment for me. And the REAL Phyllis would have kicked him in the b@lls if he had any.

I've accepted that stories like Sharon are beyond unbelievable - as I noted when it was happening - but the actors they are featuring are at least not going OTT. I'm sick of Burning Bush and wish she'd go away, but Dr. Anderson desperate attempts to insinuate herself into this people's lives are jawdroppingly hilarious, but not a complete stretch. And at least we have Mariah, who is the voice of the audience.

A good example of illogical and completely random plot points: Chelsea NOW discovering that Victor gets a share of the profits. Um, didn't your lawyer review that contract??? But at least Victor gave a logical and plausible reason why it would benefit Chelsea. Instead of weeks of Chelsea fighting Victor and agonizing over it - the got to the point - Chelsea is back in the building and working again. I really don't mind that.

I guess I'm a sucker for the fact that I get to see my favorite actors a lot and that they aren't isolated in two character boring scenes all the time.

WTF?!? Is this show really teasing

Hidden Content

They made out on New Years so Hillary would back off. I think MTS and KSJ have great chem so I hope they finally go there but it would have made more sense when Victor was acting a mess and they were enabling each others drinking.

I'm at the point the only saving story I can even suggest to the show is bring back Jeffrey and Gloria from the oblivion their in  and put them in a quad with Colin and Jill but alas of course that will never, never ever happen.

Nikki and Neil have been teased since last year during their unusual drinking friendship.

Nikki/Neil could have been interesting a year ago, but UpChuck has done so much damage to Neil....among so many others...

I do think setting up Dr. Hayward-lite's lab in Jabot will allow for more crossover between the Winters clan/Abbotts, so that doesn't bug me.Michael E. Knight has been enjoyable as the quirky doctor, which I wish I could say about Tad Martin's last few years. That is, if UpChuck can try to write the story...I'm not...

I'll believe Neil will be paired up with Nikki when I see it. Until then I'll expect Pratt to write Neil in the same position he's been written for the past two years. That being leading any story that Hilary gets either as love interest or villain thereby frustrating viewers, most of whom never wanted her tied to him anyway.

Unless CBS has changed their view on Nikki/Neil, they won't be happening romantically. But Pratt hates being told no so he will keep them in each others orbits in this psuedo romance where he finds juvenile reasons for them to kiss. When he wants to tell a story, he tells it come hell or high water. He may change a few things around but he will tell it. Such a hack! LMBO!

I posted this in the Writers/Directors 2016 thread, but former British soap executive, Mal Young, has joined Y&R in some capacity per his Twitter account. He has a very controversial reputation in the UK, and I wonder how significant his role is at Y&R.

While I think too many of the storylines are totally unbelievable, all I have to do is watch an episode of GH to realize the show isn't that bad.

Mal Young, it has been said, started the shift in focus from Brookside's roots to what subsequent producers, specifically Paul Marquess, did, which was more heightened drama (and sensationalism). A style of producing that allowed the newly established Channel 5 to use him to create Family Affairs and the BBC to poach him to the position of Head of Drama that same year. If I have this right, he was responsible for the Eastenders stewardships of both Matthew Robinson (Steve Owen character, Saskia murder, Matthew Rose saga, Tiffany exit, Grant Mitchell exit, etc) and John Yorke (you know what he did and who he introduced, lol) as well as the creations of afternoon soap, Doctors and Holby City. Add the re-commissioned Dr Who to the mix (though I think he may have left by the time it came on air).

He is not without question, having hired the well meaning but unfortunate Louise Berridge at Eastenders and former Emmerdale and Coronation Street producer Mervyn Watson to overhaul and completely 'soap-up' Casualty at roughly the same time ITV hired Paul Marquess with the same mandate.

Having being hired both here and in the States for 19Television (I think it's called) as Head of Drama, it would be quite a turn up if he isn't taking up a fairly significant role at Y&R. A potential replacement one (or both) of the current Executive Producers? I don't know as the senior executives at CBS and Sony seemed to be all in with the two incumbents.

That would be something if he replaces BOTH Pratt and Phelps. Wonder what would happen IF that comes to fruition?
