GH: January 2016 Discussion Thread

Its not a storyline though. Its may be an issue but its not something that makes for interesting drama  on TV.

And especially when both women whining about the situation look like raging loons and neither came across as right or likable about it. My issue isn't the breastfeeding in public. I could care less. Do what you gotta do, but Olivia was holding a business meeting with the MAYOR of the town. You just whip out your boob and feed your kid and expect them to just say "Oh OK" ... yeah, no. Anyway ... moving on ... lol

Oh, I agree! This would only be a story if it were Bell's Y&R in the early 90s LMAO. I was just responding to the comment that breastfeeding in public is absolutely not an issue in 2016 when it really, really, REALLY is a big deal (for some, I mean. I don't give a sh1t boo, whip it out and feed that breast nectar to the child!).

Wow, if I hadn't have read the posts here I'd have never known breastfeeding in public is still an issue. I breastfed  all my kids and had my first kid in 1985. I threw a baby blanket over my shoulder, put the upper half of the kid under the blanket and fed them. I did it in restaurants, while out shopping, anywhere and everywhere and the majority of people weren't even aware of what I was doing.

Considering there are beaches near me that have topless areas I'm surprised this is still an issue.

I saw part of the breastfeeding scene and then FFed immediately as soon as Olivia started getting defensive and aggressive.  First, if she is having a business meeting with the mayor then that is no place to bring your child.  Second, this is a place of business, once again no place to bring your child.    Does the hotel provide daycare facilities?   With the baby epidemic on GH the last ten years I would think Nik might  look into daycare as a way to save his company.    The Mayor, I have no idea if this has been discussed on prior pages, but I found her shock white hair a bit distracting.  My eyes were always fixated on her hair and it didn't work for me.

Its an annoying issue. I have no problem with a woman breastfeeding in public with her blanket if there's no bathroom or anywhere for her to go. Its the women who do it for attention like taking breastfeeding selfies during the college graduation ceremony,  standing in the middle of the aisle in Target and just whipping it out, or during the prayer during the church service when they can excuse themselves to another area that annoy me.

Why would any changes be made with strong consistent ratings? Plus Jelly deserves a few more months. It took a year at YR and they finally got their footing and it was cut short. Nathan Varni has already stated how much he loves Frank. Unless Frank left of his own Accord I don't see it happening. Gary Tomlin would probably the new exec if it happened.

Just because ratings are up (on ALL soaps, not just GH and likely because of the weather, etc) doesn't mean changes don't need to be made. Lighting/background music set the tone for the show and they're both TERRIBLE, much like OLTL towards the end of the show. That falls on FV, therefor we need another EP. Granted I'd take JP/SA over Carlivati any day, I still don't think they're a fit for GH. Sorry man

OMG DID YOU ACTUALLY START SPELLING AND WRITING CORRECTLY, WITH COMPLETE SENTENCES, ONCE YOUR TROLLING WAS EXPOSED AND PROVEN ONCE AND FOR ALL? omg  I can't. It's just too much. TOO MUCH. omg omg omg. Round of #PinkChampagne for ALL!

Sadly it is still an issue. I know of someone on Facebook who posted some stuff about breast feeding. Nothing graphic as in you don't see anything and some idiot reports it. Yet they'll keep posts that have pornographic pictures in it. It's idiotic. Most people that bitch about it have NO problem watching naked women on tv/or movies.

Was it spoiled that HN was coming back as Larry, cuz if it was, I missed it.  Pretty nice surprise.

Larry was back today

I'm already struggling to get through the episode. Tracy may not be enough to keep me interested.

Sorry Q, I think you are wrong on this one. It is Olivia's place of business, so she can have her child there if she wants to. Women are gaining more power in the work places and challenging the rules men made up about what is professional.  And let's face it, they are socially constructed rules made up by men.

Breastfeeding (not bottle feeding breast milk) reduces the risk of colic and SIDs. Are women supposed to put their children at increased risk of intense pain and death to make the ignorant comfortable? I don't think so. I also don't think woman should have to stay cloistered at home just to please other people. If Olivia got a little assertive fighting for her rights, oh well. They are her rights under the law, which the mayor of all people should know.

I love the proactive stories like Olivia breastfeeding. It's so current anf very debatable. Jean is bringing us those magic moments on the GH stage

I don't agree.  Liv's place of business is irrelevant.  The meeting could have been postponed until Olivia didn't have a kid latched to her tit.  That's very distracting.  This is just another FAIL by GH!  They continue to suck at tackling social issues, even outdated ones!
