Real people would not make the leap from "this man in front of me has amnesia" to "the only way my husband who is dead wouldn't come home would be if he had amnesia and this man in front of me has amnesia, therefore this man must be my husband"

There was a lot to crititiicize about yesterday but not having Sam figure this out isn't one of them. Jason is dead, the always to be believed Robin said so. You could trot out 40 amnesia victims and Sam would have no reason to suspect any of them were Jason. The only angle she might pursue is a need to talk to Robin face to face for closure.

As for the episode, I had to FF the entire thing almost. Children in danger? They must have focus groups showing people love Spencer or something. I think he is fine to come in once in a while and be precocious and a plot point, but this thing with Emma and Cameron is such a waste of time.

Exactly! I actually liked Spencer and thought he was adorable when Nik first returned and they only trotted the kid out for holidays and events like Laura's wedding or the occasional plot point. But this sh-t with him (and the others) being on all the time and having his own story and love triangle? Hell no!

I get what you're saying. And I'm not saying Sam should make the leap the way you stated. I just think there should be a shadow of a doubt that Jason is dead. Which could lead her to have suspicions about Jake. I think Jason even went through amnesia when he was with Sam.

She had decided, long before she heard from Robin via Patrick that Jason was dead. But Robin was at Creighton Clark, a Cassadine facility. Helena Cassadine was dead, now she's not. Lots of people in PC come back from the dead, are the citizens not aware of that? Sam knows that she can't trust Faison or the Cassadines to tell the truth.

The puzzle pieces are all there. Helena's involvement/Danny's affection toward Jake/the dragon/the ring/the previous brain surgery/the previous amnesia/Jake's unwillingness to hurt Sam/his visions of being with her. We know that eventually she will find out that Jake is Jason, but the way the writers have gone about this story is ridiculous. It would have been better for Sam to have no contact with Jake, no conversation with him about her life, and let the reveal be a true and utter shock. I feel like this way dumbs down the story and characters,

In order to pass this off they have to make Patrick an a-hole that doesn't care about Robin and her whereabouts. They skirt the issue of Emma and Robin's lack of a relationship. They make Robin a victim, and a heartless person for not telling anyone about Jason for so long. Emma seems to have amnesia and forgotten she has a mother. Sam, the private investigator, does nothing to find out every little thing she can about the love of her life's supposed second real death. Everyone is unquestioning of why Helena is back from the dead, so they all look dumb. Then the writers toss Carly and Liz into the Jake story to misdirect the viewer from all the things I listed. They should have just recast Robin instead of this Rube Goldberg story.

It looks as though Jake is the new Fluke with a dragged out story and I have to wonder if the writers even know what they're going to do with Jason once he knows who he is. Whether GH makes it another year or not, I'm not sure I can.

Weird double post, edited.

I imagine this will be dragged out until KMc returns. There is just no way how they can have Jason regain his memory but not race off to free Robin. If Robin is not on the show he can't do that, so therefore he can't get his memory back just yet. Whenever KMc announces she is coming back the Jason story will pick up. Also, Helena needs to return with Lulu's baby.

You can do the occasional story with a kid. Robin and Mikey Webber both had decent airtime. It's just the stories RC tells with these kids are ridiculous. I guess it is cute to play them as mini adults, I don't know, but he seems to think so. They could have used Spencer more effectively by having him trail Luke and get caught and traumatized with the skeleton, thereby pitting Nik against Helena's plans. There are ways to use kids, just not this way.

Robin got to witness her mother being kidnapped and Filomena being killed and was in shock for awhile, it was a great way to give her a little mini story while not letting her dominate.

I keep thinking about that famous Monty quote about the number of kids and child actors on the show. It might be time for a bus accident.

*sigh* The news broke in again. But I guess in the long run it doesn't matter. I liked Maxie today, kicking Spinelli out. I was glad Diane got threatened by Luke, but if that was me I would't represent him. Stupid that Luke threatens a cop in front of another cop. That alone would keep him from posting bail. When Nic went to see Spencer I kept saying to myself, "pull the plug, pull the plug."

And I remember reading that bus accident thing by Monty too.

    • I am so over these reboots that on the one hand, want to trade off the nostalgia for the original and then change everything anyway. So those who liked the original will most likely be disappointed in the changes and it doesn't mean anything to newer viewers who have no connection. Maybe if they do have some knowledge of the original they will be turned off, thinking that it's some irrelevant old person's show. Anyone who watched and liked 7th Heaven would be way out of the desired demo by now.
    • I think that kind of thinking gives the writers a free pass. OK let's have Fred murder someone but not face any real consequences because Mary loves him. Maybe she'll be angry for a few weeks and Bill will swear to avenge the death but that will blow  over then we can just go on. The idea that a bit of self loathing and rejection is punishment enough is ridiculous. Especially when these type of characters never reform. It allows the writers to go for shock value over and over.instead of crafting storylines that really delve into a dark/ villianous character. Not many people IRL can get away with multiple crimes and still be apart of a community.
    • I guess Wayne felt it was now or never. He'd made a splash at Days and probably hoped that would lead to a primetime series. If he signed for another 3 years at Days then the momentum would be lost and he's probably have to stay in soaps like so many others. And in the back of his mind there was the knowledge he could probably get a role on SB or GH if he didn't luck out in primetime or Days didn't want him back. As it turned out he returned to Dynasty and got a couple of primetime gigs before agreeing to go back to Days.

I got to agree. The show was a mess.  The stories that are not working were the ones featured in today's episode. That was a red flag indicating how bad the episode was going to be.
    • Thanks as always @alwaysAMC The remote was panned in the soap press at the time, especially Philip wandering around in the costume as well as some of the comedy.  I have to admit it didn't bother me, even though I knew how ludicrous the idea was of the Spauldings having a wedding at a theme park. I thought there were some fun moments and I did like the scene where Lucy got to cry and grieve over what Brent had done to her.  I think I was just glad to get away from the stories in Springfield, which were bad and getting worse.  There are a number of attempts at revamping the opening music in 1996. I'll be interested in what you think of them. I remember being glad they updated the photos but also noticing how cheap they looked. The show did need a new opening. Sadly, Rauch would instead just not even have an opening for over 5 years.
    • BTG: - Shelley Curtis first listed as Director on May 19   Another FOJulie director.
    • It’s been awhile since I’ve seen a good soap cat fight so this was highly satisfying. Loved the Drew/Curtis scenes. Drew may not end up murdered but someone is going to try and kill him and it feels like it’s going to be much sooner than later. Who thought Dante ranting and raving for weeks on end would be good writing just to create angst between him and Gio. I really don’t think you needed to make Dante this fuc.king annoying.
    • I get what you're saying, in that this is what allows you to accept what you are watching, and that works for you. But for me, changing the traits of a character that much with a recast and new writing, then they are no longer the same character.  I am unable to accept that a villain is now just a nice dude because the show wants me to, I just cannot.  If they want a grey character, then they should write off the villain and *create* a new character who is grey.  I'll never accept that Sonny Corinthos is a nice guy, despite what GH wants me to think.  Same goes for the villains on DAYS. It's frustrating for me, and not enjoyable.  It occurs to me that I watch soaps to be entertained, and the current show is just making me angry and irritated. It's not fun for me.  I want to honor Drake to see John's story conclude, but there isn't much of interest to me anymore at all, so I'll probably stop following the show in a few weeks.
    • The wikipedia article doesn't explain much. I watched the Party of Five reboot, it was on Freeform in 2020.  It was five years ago, but I'll tell you what I remember: In the original Party of Five series , the parents died, and the five sibling orphans worked together to raise themselves with the older ones looking out for the younger, while managing the family restaurant.  The oldest child wants to have fun but ends up assuming the responsibility. In the 2020 reboot: The family were Mexican, the parents were undocumented, and the oldest child is an adult who could stay in the US for DACA.  In the reboot, instead of the parents dying -- in the first episode the parents were arrested by ICE and sent back to Mexico.   The five children were left in the U.S. to raise themselves with the older ones looking out for the younger, while managing the family restaurant.  The oldest child wants to have fun but ends up assuming the responsibility.  The teens go through teen stuff and the older ones explore careers.  The child daughter feels sad without her parents, and there is also a baby.  But the children were able to have periodic phonecalls with their parents in Mexico, which were very emotional.  The children hire an attorney to try to get their parents returned to the U.S.  The dad phones them to check on the management of the restaurant.  The younger children crave talking to the mom on the phone. The viewers also see how the parents are coping with the strain in Mexico:  the mom works as a nanny and the dad gets odd jobs-- they almost divorce, and the mom wants to stay in Mexico.  I think a few of the children got to take the bus to Mexico to visit their parents. The youngest child was a baby and the next-youngest missed the parents very much.  In the season one finale, it was decided that the youngest two would remain Mexico and live with their parents.  The older children remained in the USA and were following their dreams.  Season One finished airing just as the COVID epidemic began and everything shut down. The show was not renewed for Season Two.   That's all I remember.  It was good but very different from the original. Edit to add: Amazing how the world has changed in five years.  The reboot was filmed in 2019 during the first Tr*mp presidency, and aired in 2020.  The immigration situation was tense then, and that was explored in the series.  But it seems carefree in comparison to the real world today in 2025. Edit to add more thoughts.  I have no idea what would have happened in future seasons, since the five siblings were no longer a "party of five" at the end of Season One.   Supposedly the cancellation wasn't even announced until after the Season One finale aired.  But the season one finale was 90 minutes and wrapped up some lose ends, so maybe the producers anticipated a cancellation, and did that just in case? Perhaps if it there had been future seasons, the younger children would age and then return to the USA and the five would reunite? I don't know.
    • Probably not. Then again, if any character defined the final 25 years of GL it was Reva.
