IMO, I cant understand why JFP and SONY wont allow or asked Kay Aldan back, this woman is a Nancy Curlee/ Lorraine Broderick style type of writer, and Jill worked wonders with them two at GL!! she knows the history and characters, worked with William Bell and is a great storyteller!! come on Y&R get with it. I honestly believe Phelps and Aldan would make one hell of a team!!

There's no way I'm the only one bothered by Vicky's hair? She looks like a dirty hippie!

I am bothered by Vikki in general.

Bridget was a mess but I loved her--she reminded me of the early Nina Webster. These are characters that despite their f*ck-ups, could still make you root for them to get themselves straightened out. Even when they got on my nerves for their foolishness, somehow I managed to like them because it usually wasn't coming from spite. Probably the fact that they each had to grapple with desperate circumstances.

GL, was particularly adept at seamlessly integrating its cast. Hamp and Billy's friendship seemed genuine, I was convinced these guys went way back to H.S. football days. Kat, David and Bridget were a good young adult set-- David was a little older but Kat was so precocious, it worked.

I wonder though how those writers would fare in today's environment. There would be a lot of contention with the studios, I think. Do today's audiences have the patience for building relationships and story? If someone isn't paired up right away, people tend to get carried away in their judgement.

One of the reasons, I hope that they take their time with Hillary. They've done well but it's important that they give the audience time to get to know the character on her own merit, so that regardless of what relationship she gets into, people will care, not just about pairing but about her. I think for years, this was done pretty well with Nina--through her ups and downs, people cared about Nina. Hopefully, they'll do a better job with Hillary's relationships though-- Nina's relationships were either incomplete or terrible. After awhile, it seemed as if the writers no longer tried with her.

Exactly. I miss the days when soap fans hated characters, it was love to hate because you disapproved of choice, but deep down you still cared. Nowadays, most characters I loathe and wish they'd take a flying leap. And I'm hoping the ground Hillary and make her the new screw up/vixen/schemer like Jill & Nina once were.

But all this talk about my GL & ATWT makes me well up. Oh how I wish we could return to Oakdale and Springfield just one more time.

I was able to enjoy the Christmas episode for the most part outside of those scenes where Ghost John came back to tell Jack how pathetic he was for sitting in an empty house alone talking to a ghost. Were we supposed to enjoy the visit from the !@#$%^&*] of Christmas's past?

I adore the Jack and Hillary relationship. PB and MM have excellent father/daughter/mentor chemistry.

I HATE Ghost John..why can't he just disappear into the Big Tanning Bed in the Sky forever.

Even though the Ghost John scenes were pretty pointless, this was a decent Christmas Eve episode but compared to what we've had to ingest in the past, most any coherent script with sensible use of the cast would be an improvement over the past few years of junk.

This was nice but it's the holiday season and creating nice is not that difficult. Hopefully after the glow of New Year's eve festivities are through, there will be more to look forward to.

They should have never killed John off. It was a BIG mistake. The show was rather dull today. I didnt care for most of anything that was on today. The Katherine piece at the end was the only thing interesting.

I love Jack and Hilary. I'm tired of him pining for comafied Phyllis though. Either recast Phyllis or let Jack move on. Abby is so annoying. Thank goodness for half naked Tyler in those scenes.

Jack speaking into a phone for minutes on end is not riveting nor poignant...move him on. But not to Hilary though...

Ghost John Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Jack and Hillary are so great together. I look forward to this relationship developing (non romantic).

Why does Leslie seem like she'd rather be anywhere but at that dinner table? Is AC completely bored and unable to hide it?
