DAYS: Month of July discussion

I am loving this show. I agree with 'SouthofSoap' that even though there wasn't a ton of movement this week the cast interaction is amazing!! I believe the dialogue is outstanding, as are even the slow beats of story being played out. Even though there is not a TON of movement right now in story, the show is still very enjoyable and fun to watch.. and that's an accomplishment! My thoughts..

1) First things first... on Mon's episode when Rafe appeared to be crashing Kayla yelled for an "IV STAT!" I'm an RN and of course recognize this as a soap.. but there are a few things (as I'm sure you all understand) that just errrk you at times. The fact that Rafe has been in a medical-induced coma for over 2 months in critical condition and does not ALREADY have IV access is so unbelievable. haha. Again, I know its a soap.. I know its all for dramatic purposes.. but it's just one of those things that is SO outlandish that it would NEVER happen. haha. Ok.. off soap box.

2) Continue to love the cast integration and interactions: especially between Brady/Eric as brothers, JJ/Abe was nice to see Abe as the patriarch he so rightly deserves to be, Will/Marlena were charming as ALWAYS (loved how she had her leg propped up on him) These two need to spend more time together, Loved Sami/Marlena and Marlena's reaction to the new portrait in DiMansion, and I still really enjoy Kayla/Abe and would totally root for them!! Roman/Teresa were awesome too and her calling him "Uncle Ro" Love her as a bad girl

3) The slow build up of Adrienne actually seeing the video was so JER-esque and played out So well... I love how we actually got payoff of seeing her actually see the video, but how many close calls we had leading up to it!

4) Loved EJ/Sami evil-ish laugh as the new "Bonnie and Clyde" with all the DiMera power.. it was classic. I really can't wait to see more of this storyline play out. I know Joe isn't working a ton.. but since he hasn't been shown that much in 2013 I'm hoping he has quite a few episodes on his episode guarantee saved up so maybe he can be used a little more in the fall/winter and they can play out a lot of beats of the "Stefano comes back for revenge to get his empire back" type story.

5) Love seeing Father Matt... and seeing Julie/Doug's photo in the Horton house makes me miss them. I feel like we haven't seen them in a long time.... We've seen them what? Once this year? It's time for Doug/Julie to make an appearance to meet JJ and talk to Hope/Ciara, etc.

6) John Black....it was good to see him in his two episodes this week.. I've said this before but at this point I think the best thing the show can do is keep DH on recurring to show up once or twice. Have him and Marlena reconcile and John can just show up occasionally to support Marlena/Sami/Eric/Brady, etc. Marlena can definitely still drive story with John over on the sidelines just making an occasional appearance from time to time. For me John works best as the loving nice guy, not the jerk he's been recently.. so just have him reconcile with Doc and he can pop in on holidays and 1-2x/month to support and love his family. This show really needs a patriarch who is a good "heart of gold" guy and that is who John could be again.. The one who Brady/Eric/Sami go to for advice and support.

7) 2 best moments/lines of the week both involved Kristen/Nicole... Nicole to Kristen "Is your hearing going along with your looks?"..... and Nicole's "air kisses" to Kristen on Friday.

8) Last thing... JJ is still rocking it! Casey Moss is making Danifer more tolerable... I am LOVING being able to root for JJ even though we know he is the one in the wrong.. I like his friend Rory.. His connection with Teresa is amazing... and he and Missy Reeves are playing off each other so well!!

Nicole's air kisses to Kristen were hilarious on Friday. Eileen nailed Kristen's reaction perfectly.

Devil in a blue dress Kristen is so much fun to watch. Her annoying shouting at Brady when he was actually trying to talk to her and then her fantasy with the child and then her staredown with all of the Brady's, including Eric's visible discomfort. And her 'forgive me, I have sinned' ... wonderful end to the episode.

UGH Dannifer. I hate you so much. Jeannie has become a delightful little bitch. JJ's hate of Daniel is great.

I think I have an idea of where they might be going with Jeannie/Theresa. I've noticed her dependency on drugs, her pulling away when JJ touched her, and then being uncomfortable with religion/church. IDK, I think she was sexually abused, just like Kim was. JMO. We'll see if they would ever bother to tackle it now.

What the hell was Marlena wearing on Friday? However her talk with Sami was my everything. Spot on and Marlena's reactions were perfect. Sami's arrogance was in full display. They are so setting EJami up for a big fall. I can't wait.

Kristen, Adrienne and Marlena's reactions to the portrait has been spot on.

Side note, JJ's friend Rory is hilarious. I enjoy their friendship and I'm glad they gave JJ a friend right off the bat. I like all of the supporting characters DAYS seem to be using regularly. It's nice. I miss soaps using strong recurring/supporting characters (and I'm not talking about former contract actors who are now relegated to recurring, though the show is using several of them quite well and appears to be improving with others).

My god, Jennifer NEVER works. After showing up to work for 10 minutes to bitch at Teresa, she goes home to get her MP3 player and then goes for a jog and spends some time playing with Daniel and Parker. She goes back to work for 5 minutes to check on Teresa and then goes back home to spend the rest of the afternoon with Daniel. Why does she even bother to show up at the hospital? I wish I had a job like hers

Daniel and Jennifer got back together. I was about to write, I wonder how long till they break up again. Looks like it took less than 40 minutes. That's a record for them!

I forgot to mention about JJ's friend Rory; they should make him T's little brother! Ive been wanting more T and what a great idea if they were connected as it would instantly give them both a family connction besides just being best friends to two core characters. Maybe he smokes too and wants in on his younger brother's hussle. He and Teresa could probably hook up and get in trouble together

Today was a such a great epsisode. The bait-and-switch with Kristen's sex tape to Sami's new arrest was great soap. If it had been just a standard JER fakeout, I would of thrown something at the tv lol

Never been a Ej/Nicole shipper because the dynamics of their relationship are so emotionally unhealthy, but wow their chemistry is smoking, way more than anything that EJ/Sami has ever given us.

Ciara had the best line today: ""I love weddings. When I grow up, can I get married as many times as Sami?" Also her "Mom! Isn't she AWESOME?" about Kristen was hysterical.

Victor/Nicole character-relationship growth is an example of the little things that the show does so well.

Glad Kristen spurned Brady, but we'll see how long it lasts.

Love this soapy routine of Kristen deciding to do the right thing and then Marlena kicks the hornet's nest again and sets her off.

Melinda Trask is fierce! Adrienne cries too much.

I love that the show is basically implying (over the course of many episodes) that Dannifer are atheists/agnostics - how ironic for Missy.

It was just a throwaway line yet his absensce is glaring. I wish they would give him a proper exit instead of leaving him in limbo

Can't wait to see that scene! And yeah - Bo's absence has GOT to be addressed. It is insane that we haven't gotten closure on him yet. Bo is WAY too much of a legacy character to just disappear.

It was a treat to see that many people on screen -- cast members and extras. They spent some money on that school set, so I imagine they'll be using it going forward. Seems like an odd choice for a setting in which people can interact, but at least it's different. I really enjoyed the bait-and-switch from Kristen's reveal to Sami's arrest, the Kristen-Marlena confrontation and some smart scripting for Ej & Nicole, EJ & Sami, Victor & the Archbishop, and Ciara. It's tough for me to recognize the Adrienne of old in her actions in the current storyline, but I appreciate that she's there and Judi Evans is totally committed to it.

And yes, they need to address the Bo situation.
