FWIW, her role on the show wasn't really all that prominent in terms of a speaking role.  She was really part of the all important dance sequences. Ironically, I think Stephanie was probably featured a bit more prominently when she was on the show because judging from this photograph, her character had dated Leroy at one time.

Watching clips such as these makes me wish I were working in the theater.  (Who cares if you don't make any money?  It's LIVING ART).  Also, I heart Dinah Manoff.

Thanks, Franko!

Wow its ironic that these never had a open relationship at one point both of them never seem to stay in eachothers orbit too long clearly, and 1992? I thought they had a 1 night stand in 1996 im so confused

I wonder if john ever found out about this or anyone for that matter cause that is some old school soap drama.

I think John did find out. I know this caused a bit of a debate, even to this day if Billy could be Victor's son. Not that I'd want that to really happen at this point.

1996 was the year Jill was suspected of shooting Victor.

According to the description this was the only scene Michelle Stafford's Phyllis and Alex Donnelly's Diane shared. It was pretty standard soap fare but when you have two dynamite actresses (before MS became tic central!), Y&R excellent score and exceptional direction (that shot of Phyllis through the handle of Diane's purse was SO simple but they would never take the time for something like that on soaps today) you get something that rises above the rest.

I finally watched the two 1975 and 1978 episodes I'd saved up. Thank you to @YRfan23 and @ltm1997 !!

I wonder if these are from a hardcore Leslie fan as many of those that pop up seem to heavily involve her.

The two episodes were the strongest contrast between Janice and Victoria that we could have possibly gotten. Janice seems so alive, even as we also know how much Leslie struggles, while Victoria's work is so much more internalized. I wonder if that pushed JLB to become more over the top, as she seems restrained in that episode, even in fantasy scenes she could have easily hammed up.

Always enjoy seeing Janice get to perform. Why she never got a vehicle in primetime I'm not sure. Unfortunately her attempts to do this on AW just weren't as effective.

I laughed out loud at the ludicrousness of that "fan" of Leslie's showing up at her concert brandishing a hate memoir that drove her to a breakdown. This was just so Bill Bell.  Of course some "fans" are bitches from hell, so it's not entirely far off, especially these days. Ahead of his time, Bell was.

I thought Victoria Thompson, while not as good in the role as Jaime, was, oddly, a good contrast to Victoria Mallory's version of Leslie.

    • I'm not sure it's as unpopular as you think.  I just think the show knew they were in a bind, and needed a proven couple for the viewers to invest in. Trying to reunite Vanessa and Ross had just failed in 87. I don't think Ed and Holly's affair was well received, as Simon and Garrett had a brother/sister chemistry. Enter Billy and Vanessa, who give you history and an out not to try and do a Josh/Reva/Billy triangle, which would've really wrecked the relationship between Josh and Billy. I'd have been ok with trying Vanessa/Ross again, and doing a Vanessa/Ross/Holly/Billy quad for a while. I hated Nadine. HATED. She had to be the most insufferable also-ran before ATWT's Julia Lindsay.
    • GROSS. Michael Swan was hot back in his ATWT days. Now he's 76 and WAY past his hot years.
    • Since she kidnapped, locked up and tried to kill her father's wife I'd say that is still a pretty big deal
    • I'm good with the gushing, too. There aren't many soap icons like John Black, and that's important to celebrate and remember. And yes, life does go on for other characters, but as they say, timing is everything. Going sky diving the day before the funeral? And during a week of shows that were so powerful emotionally? No.
    • No. There might have been a slight pause for dramatic effect after his "death," but pretty soon after they showed him in France getting plastic surgery and getting involved with his doctor, then planning with her to bring Christina to France. (She thought he had good reason to do it; she wasn't a bad person or anything). Now that I think of it, there must have been some kind of pause before that, during the 70s. Rita was accused of killing a private patient for an inheritance when she lived in Texas. Part of the backstory was that Roger had been there, too. Not sure exactly when or how long that was.
    • I've already stated that I don't like Doug being written as this meek and submissive. It was so lame watching him leave her like that. Vanessa can divorce him, but she then needs to get her thot ass into therapy. She's not only having sex with every guy she runs into, but is now having  sex with a skeevy perv on a poker table. I'm going to give the BTG some credit here. For months, many on this board were delighting in the Vanessa/Joey flirting and what they saw as chemistry. I think we're now seeing what the writers always intended -- that Joey is a disgusting POS wannabe mobster.
    • John Black actually was the ultimate good guy soap hero. So I don’t mind the town gushing over him. It’s deserved.
