November 13, 20196 yr Member TBH, I haven't had much time to watch the livestream but on a break, I did catch a glimpse of Reince Priebus trying to spin basic facts away. He just looks so pathetic.
November 13, 20196 yr Member Thankfully, my state - and all but one of my state senators (I think, there could be one more, maybe) - are Dems. But the lone (?) Republican, Elise Stefanik, also was in lockstep with the criminal cabal that is the GOP and was a huge bitch. Because, naturally. I guess it is only okay to impeach Democratic presidents that lie about consensual sex. But extortion for aid? Digging up dirt on political rivals? (Illegal any way you look at it...) "A sham impeachment!" the GOP rages. Why, that's "undermining the president". The GOP needs to go the way of the Whigs and become extinct. They are an enemy political party of democracy now. Stefanik is one of those who gets gushing press because of lip service about wanting to bring women into the GOP. We see how well that is going. The media and the GOP have already set the narrative and have declared victory for Trump. I am just hoping the Democrats will somehow scrape through next November.

Speaking of another African-American running for president, I hear now that former governor of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick has decided to run. Whew, Elizabeth Warren can't be pleased about this. November 14, 20196 yr Member I think it's going to affect the moderates more than her, I guess aside from Pete Buttigieg, who has mostly white support. If Biden keeps falling apart then I could see Patrick benefiting (at least if he'd entered a few months ago). If Biden doesn't fall apart further then I think Patrick's arrival will help shore him up.
November 14, 20196 yr Member I think Patrick's very lucrative association with Bain Capital could be a big problem for him. I mention that because Bain Capital is venture (some would say "vulture") capital firm that is not so much known as a 'turnaround company' as it is best known for stripping struggling companies for parts and making profit from the process. It's not about making corporate speeches or anything like that. Bain Capital did Romney no favors during his presidential bid, and I foresee it being a similar, if not larger problem for Patrick in his run. People talk about Obama the centrist but Obama came out of public advocacy, not the corporate world.
November 14, 20196 yr Member Is it any wonder why people can't take Politico seriously? Bernie Sanders' health scare has not spelled the end of his campaign as some pundits thought it mighthttps://t.co/YUFAEot5Th — POLITICO (@politico) November 13, 2019

November 14, 20196 yr Member CNN doesn't want to be left out, of course. Everything you need to know about how @BernieSanders has handled his return to the campaign trail since his heart attack. W/ @GregJKrieg and @ryanobles https://t.co/446Vxtme0I — Annie Grayer (@AnnieGrayerCNN) November 14, 2019 And then there is the NYT. 6 weeks after he suffered a heart attack, Senator Bernie Sanders is adopting a more wholesome regimen — more exercise and a healthier diet — to persuade voters he is healthy enough to be president https://t.co/oOyEEBecoQ — The New York Times (@nytimes) November 13, 2019 Geez, what if all these publications had given that same energy with printing articles that pushed back on the narrative being built about Hillary's e-mails? We might be in a different (better) place right now?
November 14, 20196 yr Member The heart attack made him even more of a martyr, and allowed his supporters like AOC to be openly cultish with less blowback. It is also a boon for the media, who do not like or trust Warren and are fonder of Sanders (likely because they know he won't keep his promises - Warren probably will).
