It’s an odd one. They’ve been saying for a large part of the year that Adam Woodyatt is taking a break from the show but very recently, I’ve started to think that the information being released is a red herring and that Ian is in fact being killed off.

If he is, either Woodyatt has decided he’s wanted a change (because unlike the other ‘episode one’ originals, Letitia Dean and Gillian Taylforth, who have both had extended periods away from the show, AW has, more consistently been there for all 35 years) or Jon Sen/Kate Oates are making a VERY bold statement and writing him out.

I've had a hard time getting Peggy's last scenes out of my head, and the double meaning of them. Barbara loved Peggy so much, and got to have a second chance at fame and happiness through Peggy. The scenes now end up feeling like Barbara getting the chance to say goodbye to the character, but also in making sure Peggy did not meet the fate she knew she was facing.

I disliked much of what the show did with Peggy in the character's last 10-15 years, but Barbara was such a wonderful dramatic actress when given the chance, alongside her charisma and humor. You could see how much everyone on the show loved her - generations of cast members.

The writing for her 2010 exit, as Peggy chose to leave the toxic dynamics she belatedly realized she'd spent so many years reinforcing, was extremely brave (and, unsurprisingly, later forgotten). That's how I will always remember the character.

    • I stopped watching Another World in 1990. Simply, lost interest in the show.  I had watched the show from 1973 to 1990. The 90 minute show started the decline of AW.  NBC panicked with expanding AW due to the GH hoopla. As mentioned above, 1982 was a trainwreck for AW.  The introduction of the Shea family, the movie storyline involving Jamie, and Steve Frame favoring Rachel over Alice. The writers went into that direction due to the forgettable performance of Linda Borgeson.

    • Ive seen that theory thrown out but the one thing against it is that Leslie and her family lived in Chicago. She only came back to DC last year after her husband died. Unless they say Alan made a trip to DC and died while away, she wouldnt know about that. However I do think the angle of her finding out that Martin was involved could work as that gives her leverage against Bill too for covering it up. She'd want to get revenge on him by threatening to have him disbarred
    • What a good write-up @Errol! Nice seeing the nod to Duplaix's lead.
    • The Egypt location shoot was cancelled because of the Achille Lauro cruise ship hijacking

    • And, to me it is a little bit hilarious that AW fans all over continue to refer to it as Egyptian Dust Recently elsewhere I've been running polls. When did you stop watching AW or What storyline caused you to stop watching AW. You may be interested to know that sticking it out till the bitter end is winning by a landslide. Next highest vote getter is - no surprise - Frankie's murder. So that covers like 60% & next 20%. Then the votes drop way down to 10% and well below but a wide array of reasons are given, including but not limited to  Justine Lumina Rachel having twins at her age, how ridiculous Mac's death the 90 minute show firing JC, George R & Dwyer Hmm, I know there are a few more, in the 1%-3% range but I cannot think of what they are. Sorry, my bad. Should have made notes but I didn't know I would be posting about it. LOL!!
    • A kind angel has added both episodes to the vault (UK Diva TV broadcast version).
    • Yes, I think that is the most likely situation.  TPTB were unhappy with the offer(s) they got from the tourism board in Finland, and decided the trip was going to be too expensive for P&G/NBC to finance alone.   I would also speculate a similar situation likely occurred a few years later with the planned location shoot in Egypt, which was also cancelled after the storyline had already started, and changed to Arizona.
