Strangely, I was able to see a lot of the 1998 episodes on PBS, but didn't get a chance to catch most of the 1999 episodes (until the material that came towards the end of 1999). It's always felt weird to me since I've seen most of 1998 and 2000.

Does anyone know/remember when exactly Charlie Brooks joined as Janine in 1999? I know she arrived after Frank and Peggy were married (and I loved how disgusting she was towards Peggy).

I agree about Jamie Borthwick probably not having much of a shot at working steadily on US TV and/or in feature films. As much as I don't like Jacqueline Jossa I always thought she had "the look" and could see her on some youth-oriented shows for The CW like Reign or The 100.

I think Rakhee Thakrar has the biggest future ahead of her in the US, if that's where she wants to go.

What a ham that Claudette actress is. Yelling her lines all the time. Her son isn't much better. Some of it was painful to watch. I don't know who I hate more, Babe or Claudette. Well I guess Claudette is somewhat entertaining with the overacting, Babe is just rotten.
Then you have Mick throwing a tantrum over his kids.
One thing I'll say is that the Jordan actor seems like a fine addition so far.
I personally find the Stacey storyline to be the best part of the show at the moment so I hope it's returning this week. The nurses and the doctor have all been well portrayed. I wish they'd show us more of Stacey's stay in psychiatric units and her getting better which could make for a good story but they focus on Arthur and Martin (whom I really like now that being said).

Ellen Thomas (Claudette) is painful at times but I do think that she is a decent actress. I do think that she hammed it up a bit in her performance. I think that the story is more painful than the acting b/c it retcons so much of EE's history. Now I guess we can assume that Vincent might Phil, Sam, and Grant's half-brother from the fact that Claudette used to screw Eric on the side. It's obvious that DTC is about to go that route.

Jordan/Denise are the only saving grace to EE at this moment; however, I don't like how Jordan is all for running off with Lucas. Not after he killed his mother and numerous others. I did enjoy Denise putting her foot down and refusing to allow Jordan to take JJ with him if he was to go.

The Carters drama.... I can't say it enough but I really don't care about Nancy, Mick, Linda, Oliver, etc. I hate this family running the Queen Vic and I want their asses gone. Lee is the only one I like. The rest can go.

Vincent might be Phil's half-brother? A Livergate storyline with Vincent as the potential donor? Oy.

I agree that Ellen Thomas is a decent actress 100% defeated by the material she was handed. Claudette's tits do deserve a BAFTA, though.

I can't with EE tonight. It was just abysmal.

DTC recycle the same story twice in one day. First, Gavin was left in the basement to be buried and he got up and escaped. Now Claudette does the same. Yep, it's time for DTC to go.

I don't like how they had Jordan reacting tonight too. Thank God for Joivan and Diane b/c they held the climax of this story together.

Ronnie rushing to stop Jack's supposed wedding to find out it isn't his was stupid too. I just don't give a damn about Jack/Ronnie. Never have. Never will. Also, if Honey was brought back to be Jack/Ronnie's cheerleader then she can leave the Square again. I always preferred Billy with Lil Mo anyways. Honey was always f-cking annoying to me.

I don't think Jordan or Lucas ever needed to be brought back for Denise have a story. To me, it showed how unimaginative and regressive DTC and company are given that the last time he was on the show with Santer (and the beginning of Kirkwood's tenure), it was the Lucas storyline that was going on.

Poor Diane Parish has to carry a number of really poor actors that are really not worth her time. I think they need to move Denise into a more community-based role, they've failed her tremendously with the characters they have surrounding her. For some reason, her family dynamics have never worked nor have they been allowed to work due to poor writing and bad actors/or actors not on her level.

    • I also really enjoyed Eva's scenes with Kat today. They have an interesting chemistry. I thought it really did feel a bit like sisters at conflict. Especially with the way that Eva was trying to convince Kat to forgive Ted and them both coming to the conclusion that the man they thought was their father was different wasn't who they really thought he was initially. And the way that Eva broke down when Kat said that she was dead to her was emotional stuff. I really do think that in spite of their conflict/bickering Eva really would have loved to have gained a sister, along with a brother, father, etc... Also, I thought it was interesting how Eva kept saying that she loves Ted and Nicole. That and Leslie mentioning that Kat/Eva are almost twins really does make me wonder if Kat may really be her twin and Nicole's as well. I would gladly welcome that outcome, even if it takes a while for it to come out. At this point Leslie doesn't deserve Eva as a daughter as far as I'm concerned. And I would forward to a storyline where we found out that she's Nicole's second baby girl, and all the complex and ultimately happy feelings that would bring Nicole. Eva/Kat could still have a rivalry, especially if Nicole ended up bonding more with Eva. And then we could get the rest of the family's reaction to that as well.

What you NOT gonna do to me!
    • Bravo to every single person responsible for today's episode. From the writer on down to Kraft services. Yall I'm getting emotional but I wish my granny was here to have seen this soap since she was the one to introduce me to this medium.

    • Everything is fraught with confusion. Why is Leslie pleading with the Duprees to accept Eva? She's not biological family so what is this? She's the product of an affair with their in-law so Leslie wants them to accept her? I'm getting GOOD TIMES vibes of Leslie and Eva minus the physical abuse.
    • Big fan of today's writing. In particular, I like EJ complexity, crying over Johnny and conspiring at the same is tough to pull off in the same episode, but it goes very far in explaining EJ's motives. I don't hate the idea of Cat and EJ, and I especially appreciate everyone trying to warn her, but she is sticking to the plan. Boy oh boy, when Brandon Beemer wears a shirt that matches his eyes, I get lost in the screen!
    • Yeah, I think that Leslie's speech would have had a bit more of an impact if Ted had been the Dupree's son, with Nicole being the daughter in law they loved like a daughter. But being that he's the son in law, and that Eva (at least not right now) isn't technically a Dupree, it doesn't hold as much weight. They aren't caring much for Ted right now and their feelings could be trickling down to Eva. Though, I do think they have some sympathy for her. I really enjoyed today's show. Loved a stripped, down hurt but still strong in her resolve Nicole. DD continues to shine and shows why she is IMO the heart of the show. I felt her words, and anger at Ted and how she broke down in Kat's arms at the end. She is just wonderful all the way around. I also loved the way that Anita read Leslie. She was spot on about her and how mishandled everything with Ted and Eva. And speaking of Leslie... I immediately thought the same thing once I saw that scene. That what she exhibited was trash behavior. I don't think she's a good mother. In fact, I think she's lousy. Granted, I have missed some episodes, but I haven't really seen her do anything to indicate that she really cares for Eva or her well being. All she's really done is try and manipulate/use Eva for her own agenda since she came to town.
    • I thought Brandon C was much more believable as Martin today.  Before, I watched an actor trying to portray a character.  Friday and today, I simply felt the character.
    • The way Leslie uses her love shower Eva with and then snatches it away when Eva doesn’t do what she wants is something that should be focused on down the road.    Great end to the episode overall and kudos to the writing and production team for carefully executing all of this.
