I watched this show the other night cause nothing else was on. I liked the Brother o.d.ing storyline. I like Sally Fields. But Calista Flockheart is terrible. The scene were she brokedown after 9/11 was just atrocious. I can fake cry better than her. :P

This show reminds me of Providence. :)

Absolutely agree Mulder!

Brothers and Sisters is the best ensemble drama in years. They better rack up on Golden Globe and SAG nominees next month.

It's so refreshing to seeing two NON-stereotypical gay men in a storyline, and the over 50 characters are allowed to have a love life.

Seeing Sally Field try to sneak back into the house like a teenager was priceless.

Not sure if this was posted but the often great poltiical playwright John Robin Baitz, who is co show runner and is THE creator of the show has an interesting blog

http://community.tvguide.com/forum.jspa?forumID=700009576

on the show. Glad thye're gonna address how wealthy the family is

I admit I intially watched the show largely just cuz I liked Baitz film and theatre writing and I liked the cast, and while the first few eps were good but not great it was refreshing to have a relatable relationship based drama on tv that wasn't based around a gimmic (the way 6 Degrees for instance is). Of course it's also one of the few to deal fine with gay characters which is good since John Baitz is gay as is new co show runner Greg Berlanti (most famous here for Everwood but remember he wrote the damn soapy--a bit too cliched but decent gay romantic comedy Broken Hearts Club).

It's still not quite Herskovitz/Zwick brilliant (my fave tv writers of domestic drama with thirtysomething, So Called Life and Once and Again) but it's getting up there and I enjoy each ep more than the last

Agreed on both accounts.

Re Sarah it was kinda hypocritical (but realistic) that after all the stuff about accepting him into her family the reaction she had to Rebecca's existance was interesting...

And ya I'm not quite sure if the writers think we should sympathize with Scotty or what? Ya he comes from a very different background than the uber priviledged, but come on give the guy a break. Sheesh

As usual I watch the show just last night. And as already mentioned: Brilliance!

Globe and Emmy nominations for Sally Field, Calista Flockhart, writing and Best Drama are a MUST. This episode was fantastic. Calista showed that she's more than just Ally McBeal, Sally Field sneaky-act and her reaction to the army letter were fabulous and overall this episode really killed me.

As Eric said, B&S is not yet up to Once&Again standards but they come pretty close. The show started of rather mediocre and has improved every week so far. Now, I love it to pieces and it just pains me to realize what daytime soap operas could be like if they were braver or simply more intelligently written.

There is a new episode tonight but not next week? How shall we get through a whole week without the Walkers, ABC!?

Tonight's show was great - I didn't realize it was Part 2 of 2. Glad to see more flashbacks to understand the whole Army/Justin/Kitty/Nora thing. And more Tom Skerrit is nice.

I enjoyed Rob Lowe - wasn't sure if I would or not. Rob Lowe, Kitty, and Warren might just be the hottest threesome on TV right now! lol

LMAO at the Army guy and Kevin. Nice to see no Scotty and Kevin said he was his ex...so maybe that means no more Scotty ever? Hope so!

I love that all the business stuff is settled...they can move on to Rebecca and that mess.

Once again, I thought it was excellent!

I loved just about everything last night, especially how the flashbacks were entertwined with the present story.

The only weak part for me is Nora's flirtations with David. I still think she's moving too quickly after William's death.

It was great how Justin took responsibility for his own actions and told both Nora & Kitty to stop blaming each other.

The Warren/Kitty/Senator storyline should be fantastic if they play out the political differences along with their personal feelings for each other.

I'm so glad they wrapped up the missing money mystery so now we can move on to more of the family dynamics and with Kevin & Tommy now knowing about Rebecca, it seems inevitable for one of the siblings to seek her out. I can't wait for that to happen!

Anyone know a good site to get them? Besides bit torent stuff? I don't do that.

    • Today May 11, 2025, Pope Leo briefly addressed the crowd in the square.  He sang the prayer to Mary and then said:   Dear brothers and sisters, The immense tragedy of the Second World War ended eighty years ago, on 8 May, after having claimed sixty million victims. In today’s dramatic scenario of a piecemeal third world war, as Pope Francis stated many times, I too address the world’s leaders, repeating the ever-timely appeal: “Never again war!”. I carry in my heart the sufferings of the beloved Ukrainian people. May everything possible be done to reach an authentic, just and lasting peace, as soon as possible. Let all the prisoners be freed and the children return to their own families. I am deeply saddened by what is happening in the Gaza Strip: may there be an immediate ceasefire! Let humanitarian aid be provided to the stricken civil population, and let all the hostages be freed. On the other hand, I have welcomed with satisfaction the announcement of the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, and I hope that through the upcoming negotiations, a lasting accord may be reached soon. https://www.vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/en/angelus/2025/documents/20250511-regina-caeli.html
    • Lol! I'm quite sure it would.
    • But that is pretty much situation normal for all soaps. They do not tend to continue to show things like surgical scars. They also play fast & loose with hospital procedures.
    • re: prior two posts about Trump's new opulent plane contrasted with utter starvation in Gaza... Trump and Netanyahu are giving "Let them eat cake".  And it's horrific. In 2013, Pope Francis removed a bishop from running the Limburg Germany diocese because he was constructing an opulent 31-million-euro building. This is from Reuters obit of Francis: https://www.reuters.com/world/obituary-pope-francis-shook-up-church-with-simplicity-raising-conservative-ire-2025-04-21/ From the start, Francis sent clear signals to priests and bishops about the type of Church he wanted. He said there was no room for "careerists or social climbers" among the clergy, told cardinals they should not live "like princes," and said the Church should not "dissect theology" in lush salons while there were poor people around the corner. "If investments in banks fall, it is a tragedy and people say 'what are we going to do?' but if people die of hunger, have nothing to eat or suffer from poor health, that's nothing. This is our crisis today. A Church that is poor and for the poor has to fight this mentality," he said early in his papacy. -- Pope Francis stood up for the poor, the unhoused, the migrants of all faiths.  He lived simply and ordered that when he died, that he wished to be interred in a simple wooden coffin. I sincerely hope that the new pope Leo will follow Francis' example.
    • Co Sign!!!!   I have been watching the show regularly over the last few weeks and am pleasantly surprised by how much easier it is to watch each day. This definitely is confirmation for me that Paula and Jeanne wrote the stroke episodes, cause I felt the same way watching those. Could be more exciting for sure, but interactions now make more sense and everything seems to be a bit more character driven which is great. I will add though, there are still about 10 or so characters i'd love to see gone, and hope a few will exit in the future! Otherwise, happy with the changes so far.

    • There is suffering everywhere you look, says mother of emaciated baby girl trapped in Gaza https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/czrv5rl73zdo Quoting excerpts from BBC article: The baby's mother Najwa, 23, is changing Siwar's nappy. She weighs just over 2kg (4lb 6oz). A baby girl of five months should be around or over 6kg. "There was no food when I gave birth to her," says Najwa. "If I wanted to feed myself so I could breastfeed her, I had no nutrients to make my health better... She now only drinks formula milk, and we don't know how we'll be able to provide it for her." Israel has banned international journalists from entering Gaza to report independently. According to Siwar's doctor, Ziad al-Majaida, "Nothing enters through the borders, no milk, food or anything. This leads to big problems here for the kids. This baby needs a specific type of milk. It was available before, but because of the border closure, the stocks have run out for a while now." Since the beginning of the year, according to the UN, about 10,000 cases of acute malnutrition among children have been identified. Food prices have rocketed by as much as 1,400%. Charity kitchens, which have helped hundreds of thousands of Gazans, are shutting as food supplies run out. Twenty-five bakeries supported by the World Food Programme have been forced to close. Israel cut off all humanitarian aid and other supplies from entering Gaza on 2 March, and resumed its military offensive two weeks later The United Nations has said the Israeli blockade constitutes "a cruel collective punishment" on civilians. The UN's humanitarian director, former British diplomat Tom Fletcher, said that international law was unequivocal. "As the occupying power, Israel must allow humanitarian support in... Aid, and the civilian lives it saves, should never be a bargaining chip," he warned. From the BBC reporter: I put this point to Boaz Bismuth, a leading member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party. He (Bismuth) denies there is an aid crisis caused by the blockade. "There is food in Gaza... Israel wouldn't do such a restriction if the population didn't have food. I mean, I know my country perfectly well," he (Bismuth) said. BBC reporter: I put it to Bismuth that he was denying the evidence of people's eyes, that children were starving. "There are not starving children. I repeat again." He (Bismuth) said that there had been allegations months ago of famine, ethnic cleansing and genocide in Gaza "which was crap". ----  ----  ---- A UK-based advocacy group for Israel has the nerve to claim war may reduce obesity in Gaza https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/may/10/uk-lawyers-for-israel-condemned-over-claim-war-may-reduce-obesity-in-gaza
    • Joel Crothers would have been perfect as Owen (maybe because Margo wasn't too far off Denise). A shame he couldn't have played a dual role. Eliot did have more room to grow. I wonder if whatever allegedly happened with Denny Albee played a part in both their exits.
