ATWT: Week of Aug 28 Discussion Thread

This Raven Lake stuff is fun so far...that mask is crazy scary. Oh Luke just came out to Kevin - and he's not taking it well :( Lots of filler with the extras who I hope get murdered...just to keep making this more entertaining of course.

Anyway, I noticed that on today's show (Monday) - that out of everyone on the show, only Carly, Mike, and Casey were in the opening. That's really odd to me....I'm still not over the fact that Luke isn't in the opening.

EDIT: Ok I take that back - they showed 3 others in the episode after awhile --- Katie, Margo, and Tom? Yeah.

Katie is obviously jealous of Simon and Katie.

This slasher story is dragging.

Really didn't like the Inturn pimping at the end.

Maybe the slasher story wouldn't seem so bad if it wasn't filled with dayplayer teens.

I think that something is truly up with Kevin; I don't think he's so much as angry at Luke as he could be angry with himself. I think Kevin has his own secret...now that Luke has come out to him, in many ways, that bothers Kevin, therefore the reason for the over the top macho attitude around his peers. He knows that his peers will mock and laugh at Luke being gay and he wants to keep himself from being the brunt of all that.

That whole scene where Zach and his chick found the body really reminded me of the very first Friday the 13th (minus the nudity) where they were on the bed kissing and they zoom over to the lifeless body.

Jade has lurking down to an art. How one manages to speed between bushes and cabins to ear hustle Gwen/Will conversations and Luke/Kevin arguing is a great accomplishment for the girl :D

-I loved Tom and Margo's scenes today. It was nice, simple and very well done. Not much action happening, just a married couple sitting down and talking about the present and connecting it with their past.

-Sick to death of Mike and Katie.

-The Slasher stuff is fun. I like the shooting style and the over-the-top campiness.

ETA: I'm BEGGING (on my knees here) PLEASE don't post who the slasher is!!! I'm spoiler free....

Right now, I can't even begin to say how much I can't stand Mike and Katie (and they are one of my favorite couples). All that they are about is getting busy; or dwelling on what Simon is up to with Carly; it's rather sad that this is the only thing we see out of a couple. Katie is spending more time focused on Simon that she's going to make herself sick with envy of Carly. I am so glad they don't have Jack in all his scenes whining to Mike about what Simon is really up to when it comes to Carly.

I loved, loved, LOVED seeing Tom and Margo together today! While Tom was right in that there's no way Margo could have read Maddie's mind, it was interesting to see Margo express remorse at kicking Maddie out of the house and not seeing what she was hiding. I didn't think they would pick up that thread of the story again. I also liked Margo re-examining all her choices about Casey and Maddie in light of what she knows now; maybe it's just foreshadowing of something else, but it was nice to see part of the story come full circle like that.

Casey's daydream about Maddie was sweet. I really hope we get some satisfying resolution between those two when this is all said and done. I liked how he tried to bring it up with Gwen via his comment about Will sticking with it. Even though he's been talking a good game about having fun and forgetting about everything, he isn't and he can't.

All the scenes up at Raven Lake look great and come across well -- even the cannon fodder/day players. They're doing a great job at ripping off (in a good way) so many slasher flicks, but it's not nearly as hokey as it could have been.

I agree with your assessment about Kevin, SweetGal. One of the things I've really liked about that storyline is that the two actors always play it with lots of surprisingly subtle subtext; Kevin may say one thing, but there's just something in the way he and Luke are together that makes you think there's something else going on further down.

Mike and Katie are the two most annoying characters on ATWT. I don't know which one is worse b/c they both suck so much. MC and TC are good actors, but the material they get is awful. If I were them, I would have quit by now.

I tried to stay spoiler-free, but then everyone was talking about how Jen was dying...so it ruined everything. It is really annoying that people discuss spoilers on what's supposed to be a spoiler-free thread.

The thing, though, is that it's usually not regular members who do it. There will be a new member (or fangirl) who decides to bring it up and ruin things for the spoiler-free viewers. That's what happened last time I think. Someone who doesn't comment on the board started talking about how Jen was getting killed off, and then that started everything.

Also, ATWT really needs a new opening. I'm sick of them just using the same characters over and over again (like they do/did on the bumpers). It's really aggravating b/c I feel like ATWT's becoming really similar to GH, where they pimp out the characters that they use all the time in the opening, and you can automatically tell who's on the frontburner and who's on the backburner.

And maybe this is a turnaround for ATWT, b/c when's the last time they showed Tom and Margo in something like how they were today? Just b/c a couple is happy, doesn't mean that you can't create s/ls for them. It seems like a couple has to break-up in order to get them a s/l, which IMO is untrue. I think ATWT should know better than that since this is the show that uses/d family relationships the most out of any soap.

I like the Raven lake stuff too! Don't really care about the nerdy guy though, it's not a challenging role.

I was starting to think the nerd was the killer until I saw the lurker.

Loved today's show except for Matie/Simon/Carly.

The Luke and Kevin scenes were so good. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Alex did a bang up job. Vote for Alex!

Nice seeing Tom and Margo together for a change.

Maybe it's just me but I felt let down by Luke/Kevin reveal.

OMG I just read the killer is Jade and I can't believe it :o

LoL, I kid, I kid. :P

That's a good point. Unfortunately, I think it's only because Jack's been on about once a week for the last two months.

I haven't watched InTurn, but I loved Alex in his scenes and the bonus footage of him at the end. I'll definitely vote for him, he seems cool and he was the uber geek! LOL! Loved that outfit.

I was ready for the slasher story to be over, but this Raven Lake stuff is GREAT, I love it and I know I'll love this week.

Luke coming out to Kevin was great! Loved the Gwill scenes as well as anything with Casey. BTW, who is the guy he's in scenes with? I know the girl is Ann, she's growing on me. Did these two come from InTurn as well?

The Margo/Tom scenes were insanely shocking and such a joy to see. I really hope we're on the road to seeing Tom and Margo as real characters once again. Things are looking good, but I try and be realistic when it comes to vets on this show...

That would be Zach, and no they did not come from In-Turn, I think we will see the other In-Turns later this week.
