Passions deserves to fall fall fall in ratings as long as they insist on keeping Whitney stuck with Chad (who audiences were told was her brother for the first 6 years of the show). That is a lot to ask of fans. You tease fans with how great life can be for Whitney and her new man.. you tease fans with the prospect of Whitney being free from the thug with no ambition.. you show Whitney falling in love with someone new, fantasizing about the guy.. then bamb! It is confirmed that the loser is her brother and she gets turned on by the prospect of bedding him. A tsunami comes along and she's spread eagle for him in his dirty little studio. What young female in her right mind would say oooh ooh I want to see more?

Consider it karma for the show. It has never rebounded from the ridiculous tsunami crap that ruined most of the stories. It will go down to 1.0 by the end of the year. Deservingly so. :D You can only spit on fans' faces so many times. It doesn't matter how well the other stories are doing. As long as Whitney-Chad live, the show will continue dying. It's karma.

Is it too cruel for me to hope DAYS ratings really suck after Matt Ashford/Missy Reeves leave the show?

I notice finally some acknowledgement today that the exodus of J&J fans will put a dent into the ratings, and John/Marlena aren't quite the saviors that other people on this board have claimed.

I'm sure this has been explained countless times so I apologize but can someone explain to me the impact of soapnet on the ABC ratings? If one included the soapnet viewers in the comparison ABC would not be so bad off...correct?

I read that last week soapnet had its highest ratings ever.

I realize a drop is a drop and has nothing to do with soapnet but in terms of standings, the ABC soaps would be higher if soapnet was taken into consideration. Do we have any idea how much higher?

That describes me. I am an 80s Days refugee that just returned to the show after 14 years because of S & K. They are pretty much the only thing I do not fast forward. Bo, Hope and Marlena weren't even on the show during the years I watched (or only on briefly). Jack and Jennifer were in the very early stages towards the end of my viewership--he still had the stigma of Kayla's rape and she was still basically in teen stories, so none of them were enticements to me to return. There are a lot of people I recognize only from magazines or whatever, and a lot of people (mainly the teens) that I have no idea who they are at all and don't feel compelled to take time to figure them out. One thing that's struck me as a cheesy gimmick since I've been back is how frequently this show does flashbacks of stuff that happened a show or few shows earlier. Overkill. But, overall, storywise, I am not compelled to watch anything beyond S & K (maybe that will change with the writer change). Same thing happened with GH...longtime viewer, on and off...off 2-3 years, back on for the Scorpios' return but, otherwise, the same stuff that bored me then is still boring me now. But since nobody's ever tracked me or anything, my viewership is apparently neither here nor there.
