Did it ever annoy you that actors who were leads would put themselves in supporting
Susan Lucci last nomination was 2002 but not sure if she submitted 2003-2012. Lead was for superstars and long-tenured veterans. Supporting was the holding tank for those who aged out of the younger category but were not quite at superstar level or had enough years to be considered long-tenured veterans.

ALL: From Daytime to Primetime...and back again
I am actually surprised ABC didn't try to make happen Susan Lucci in a short arc on Dynasty at the height of its popularity (Fall 1982 to Spring 1985). She had guest starred on Love Boat and Fantasy Island so Aaron Spelling was aware of her. Susan Lucci, the diva of all divas of daytime, vs. Joan Collins, the diva of all divas of 1980s primetime soaps, would have been the most epic diva battle ever. Speaking of which, Susan Lucci and Joan Collins both appeared on a celebrity Family Feud special in 1982.

Number of times various soaps have won in each acting category
I counted 9: Beth Maitland (1985), Jess Walton (1991), Michelle Stafford (1997), Sharon Case (1999), Amelia Heinle (2014, 2015), Jessica Collins (2016), Camryn Grimes (2018), Marla Adams (2021). I counted 8: Tracey Bregman (1985), Tricia Cast (1992), Heather Tom (1993, 1999), Camryn Grimes (2000), Christel Khalil (2012), Hunter King (2014, 2015).

Ratings From the 90's
James Reilly was part of that early 1990s writing team at GL and he worked fine as part of that team. AFAIK he was left to his own devices at Days, and we saw what happened from 1993-1997. Yes Days recovered in the ratings, but daytime was shaken at a level not seen since ABC's huge rise and domination some 15 years earlier.

Ratings From the 90's
From the last 1992 chart as of this writing, James Reilly is some 6 months away. I believe he was first credited December 1992. Days is such an interesting case in soap history. Started as a Bill Bell show which unfortunately I was not alive for, so for my generation its best known for the supercouple years and Reilly years. Now that we've seen a good portion of the ratings for the post-supercouple/pre-Reilly era, it makes sense why that era was not really talked about alot.

Ratings From the 90's
1990s babies would have started Kindergarten in the aftermath of OJ, and as we all know soaps were never the same at that point so it's interesting to learn what drew 1990s babies to soaps. Those born in 1990 and 1991 would have started Kindergarten Fall 1995 and Fall 1996 during Reilly Days. 1992 birth would have started Kindergarten in Fall 1997 and by then Reilly Days were done. I was born on a weekday but my birth week isn't in it's ratings thread yet LOL.

2023 Daytime Emmys Live Discussion Thread
"You are not the father!" will forever be Maury's catchphrase. Look at the list of Daytime Emmy acting winners that were born 1980 and later. That to me is proof as to how far the daytime talent pool has dropped over the last 25-30 years. The streak is over. 2023 was Thorsten Kaye 7th nomination in Lead Actor. He was nominated 2003 and 2004 for Port Charles, 2006 and 2009 for All My Children, 2020 and 2021 for B&B. Jacqueline MacInnes Wood 3rd Lead Actress win ties her w/ Helen Gallagher, Maura West, Heather Tom in the Lead Actress list and places her behind Erika Slezak, Susan Flannery, Kim Zimmer. It's crazy that B&B has more Lead Actress wins than Y&R. B&B 3 each for Susan Flannery, Heather Tom, Jacqueline MacInnes Wood. Y&R 1 each for Jess Walton, Michelle Stafford, Jeanne Cooper, Gina Tognoni, Eileen Davidson, Mishael Morgan.

Ratings From the 90's
Not to derail this thread, but B&B did have a bit of a cast switch in 1992. Departures of Lauren Koslow, Todd McKee, Peter Brown, Daniel McVicar, Colleen Dion. Debuts of Chris Robinson, Kimberlin Brown, Brent Jasmer. Michael Watson had a short run. Teri Ann Linn returned for a short arc.

So you're a May 1992 baby. Looking at Days ratings so far in 1992, James Reilly cannot get there fast enough.

Ratings From the 90's
May 1992 was a huge month for both Y&R and B&B. Y&R had the baby switch reveal, Sheila disappearance, Victor collapsing and Jack leaves for Victor dead. B&B had Sheila arrival, Brooke learns she is pregnant, Ridge and Taylor get married. Guiding Light April 30, 1992 Hamp and Gilly get married and Monti Sharp debut, and May 1, 1992 Roberta Flack guest appearance. So much jockeying for position. @JAS0N47 Again, thank you so much for bringing this part of daytime television history to us. You should be knighted 🤗
