  1. Same here. Kids are back in school, so there's going to be a drop in the fall. GL was very fortunate that Capitol didn't show growth and B&B wasn't a hit right away, that's how it escaped cancel territory in the second half of the 1980s.
  2. Days beats Y&R for 2 consecutive weeks and comes w/in 0.2 of Y&R in the other two weeks. In the 1990s AFAIK, the closest Days got to Y&R was June 23-27, 1997 when Days was w/in 0.3 of Y&R.
  3. @YRfan23 February 19, 1990 was President's Day and CBS broadcast a regular season NBA game that afternoon.
  4. There's also the EP change in October 1988 from Robert Calhoun to Laurence Caso. B&B still has issues with clearances. B&B doesn't really hit its stride until Darlene Conley (RIP) arrives in December 1988.
  5. Y&R hanging on to its audience during the writer's strike. Days on the verge of reaching #1 for two weeks. Its summer so lots of kids are watching. All those elementary schoolers that were too young in the Bo/Hope years became the middle schoolers/high schoolers that came on board during the Steve/Kayla years. ABC big three and Marland As the World Turns are jockeying for position in the Top 5. It looked like GL was regaining lost ground w/ Pamela Long return as HW but it wasn't. May 1988 I think was Chris Bernau departure. Robert Calhoun cannot get to GL fast enough but as we know from the annual ratings, there was a drop during his run as EP which I think is unfortunate as I really enjoyed his run.
  6. I think the summer ratings will show the affects of the writer's strike.
  7. You're welcome @Toups
  8. Y&R this week Nikki learns she is pregnant. MTS real life pregnancy written in Nikki's storyline. Supercouple Days one year into the Steve/Kayla years and its paying off. I wonder how much of it is due to change in competition. Bo/Hope years were facing off w/ strong All My Children, rising Y&R, middle ranked As the World Turns. Steve/Kayla years were facing off w/ strong Y&R, not yet a hit B&B, weakened All My Children.
  9. This appears to be from Fall 1981. Anna Stuart as Vanessa while Maeve Kinkead was on pregnancy leave.
  10. In recent years not so much. There was that boxing lesson in the 1994 episode we saw during the classics.
  11. @Taoboi Are you checking for JM?
  12. Taylor Swift is the 6th female solo artist to reach 10 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100. The female solo artists w/ 10 or more #1s on the Billboard Hot 100 are Mariah Carey (19), Rihanna (14), Madonna (12), Whitney Houston (11), Janet Jackson (10), Taylor Swift (10). If we do not count Elvis Presley's 11 pre-Billboard Hot 100 #1s, Taylor Swift is the 11th artist to reach 10 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100. Comparing Taylor Swift to the other female solo artists w/ 10+ #1s to see where she ranks in terms of length between first #1 and 10th #1 and 9th #1 and 10th #1. The dates are when each song reached #1. Length between 1st #1 and 10th #1 Rihanna: 4 years 352 days, between SOS (May 13, 2006) and S&M (April 30, 2011). Mariah Carey: 5 years 120 days, between Vision of Love (August 4, 1990) and One Sweet Day (December 2, 1995). Whitney Houston: 7 years 33 days, between Saving All My Love for You (October 26, 1985) and I Will Always Love You (November 28, 1992). Madonna: 7 years 230 days, between Like a Virgin (December 22, 1984) and This Used to be My Playground (August 8, 1992). Taylor Swift: 11 years 57 days, between We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (September 1, 2012) and Cruel Summer (October 28, 2023). Janet Jackson: 14 years 185 days, between When I Think of You (October 11, 1986) and All for You (April 14, 2001). Length between 9th #1 and 10th #1 Mariah Carey: 63 days, between Fantasy (September 30, 1995) and One Sweet Day (December 2, 1995). Rihanna: 147 days, between Only Girl (in the World) (December 4, 2010) and S&M (April 30, 2011). Janet Jackson: 231 days, between Doesn't Really Matter (August 26, 2000) and All for You (April 14, 2001). Taylor Swift: 287 days, between Anti-Hero (January 14, 2023) and Cruel Summer (October 28, 2023). Madonna: 1 year 216 days, between Justify My Love (January 5, 1991) and This Used to be My Playground (August 8, 1992). Whitney Houston: 1 year 279 days, between All the Man that I Need (February 23, 1991) and I Will Always Love You (November 28, 1992).
  13. I thought they were gaining lost ground with Pamela Long return as HW. Perhaps the drop is due to strike material.
  14. @JAS0N47 Thank you for the NBC pre-emption info.
  15. Thanks @Soapsuds
  16. @JAS0N47 NBC had the broadcasting rights for NBA games from 1991-2002, and many of those years NBC broadcast afternoon playoff games on Memorial Day. I'm guessing the NBC soap pre-emptions/change in schedule time on each game date but if you have any further info, please add. Thank you May 27, 1991 - NBA East Final game 4, 3:30 pm ET start. Days and Another World scheduled earlier in Pacific time zone. Another World scheduled earlier in Mountain time zone. Santa Barbara pre-empted nationally. May 25, 1992 - NBA East Final game 4, 3:30 pm ET start. Days and Another World scheduled earlier in Pacific time zone. Another World scheduled earlier in Mountain time zone. Santa Barbara pre-empted nationally. May 31, 1993 - NBA East Final game 4, 3:30 pm ET start. Days and Another World scheduled earlier in Pacific time zone. Another World scheduled earlier in Mountain time zone. May 30, 1994 you already posted. May 29, 1995 - NBA East Final game 4, 3:30 pm ET start. Days and Another World scheduled earlier in Pacific time zone. Another World scheduled earlier in Mountain time zone. May 27, 1996 - NBA East Final game 4, 3:30 pm ET start. 17. Now that the CBS block has been listed. CBS soaps on these dates 12/30/94 - Sun Bowl 2:30 pm ET start. Y&R and B&B were regularly scheduled in the Eastern and Central time zones and were scheduled earlier in the Mountain and Pacific time zones. 12/29/95 - Sun Bowl 2:30 pm ET start. Y&R and B&B were regularly scheduled in the Eastern and Central time zones and were scheduled earlier in the Mountain and Pacific time zones.
  18. One month into the Writer's Strike so I think we're starting to see strike material on screen now. As the World Turns I believe around this time was Julianne Moore departure but I haven't found the exact date of the last episode of her original run anywhere. I thought it was very classy of her to return for one episode when As the World Turns was coming to an end. Fun fact, her return episode April 3, 2010 was 25 years 1 day from her debut episode April 2, 1985.
  19. It's so funny how the fortunes of CBS daytime and primetime were in opposite directions in 1987/88. Daytime we saw Y&R regularly finishing #1, As the World Turns going strong, Guiding Light appears to have gained some lost ground with Pamela Long's return as HW, B&B was not yet a hit. Primetime we saw CBS entire lineup tanking and it was about to enter third place mess era.
  20. March 3, 1988 Y&R Nina Arvesen debut. March 15, 1988 Y&R Chance's birth. Writer's strike began March 7, 1988. We'll start seeing the impact of the strike soon. B&B one year and clearance hasn't really moved (94% to 93%).
  21. These dates will show up on all the CBS soaps 1/17/94 - Los Angeles earthquake coverage 2/21/94 - Lillehammer Olympics 3/17/94 - March Madness 3/18/94 - March Madness 9/5/94 - US Open 9/9/94 - US Open 11/24/94 - Thanksgiving 1/2/95 - Carquest Bowl 3/16/95 - March Madness 3/17/95 - March Madness 9/4/95 - US Open 9/8/95 - US Open 11/23/95 - Thanksgiving
  22. Yet somehow is not cracking the top 5. Y&R, the ABC big three, Days are all jockeying for position in the top 5. I know supercouple Days was popular, but I don't believe supercouple Days was a better show than Marland As the World Turns.
  23. That way the kids could watch after school instead of just on school breaks. All those middle schoolers and high schoolers that came on board during the Steve/Kayla years would be mid-40s to early 50s now, and I'm sure a good number of them are still watching.
  24. Sometime within the last decade I'd say.
