Y&R: ATWT alum joins
So how is it going to be explained that baby Eve survived? The only explanation I can think of is Jordan kidnapped baby Eve and replaced her with a sick infant.

Ratings From the 90's
Y&R big events: Sheila visits Scott, gives him drugged martinis, and we know what that leads to. Nikki learns she is pregnant. Victor and Ashley get married. Nikki's horse riding accident, a fall that results in a miscarriage and a back injury. Bill Bell is setting two big storylines for 1991 in motion, the baby switch and Nikki's substance abuse. Days has really dropped in September and October. The supercouple era is ending with a whimper. It must be close to if not already Stephen Nichols departure.

Ratings From the 90's
@beebs I took your 1987/88, 1988/89, 1989/90 season end ratings and calculated the net differential for the 11 shows that were on all three seasons and they rank as follows B&B +0.4 Y&R +0.1 General Hospital -0.7 As the World Turns -0.7 Guiding Light -0.7 Loving -0.7 All My Children -1.0 Another World -1.1 Santa Barbara -1.1 One Life to Live -1.4 Days -1.6 B&B showed growth and Y&R was stable. The rest dropped off.

@beebs 1989/90 was the second season in a row Days had a huge drop. 1987/88 was 7.0, 1988/89 was 6.2, 1989/90 was 5.4. The supercouple era is ending with a whimper it seems.

What happened to Days this week? We expect to see a drop off across the board in September once the kids are back in school but a 1.2 drop is pretty big. I take it the shipwreck storyline is over and Days is preparing for Stephen Nichols departure. I think its the aftermath of Kim Zimmer departure.

Knots Landing
Donna Mills was smart to walk away when she did.

1980s Trends
Foreign divas I'd say were a side effect of Dynasty influence. Foreign spies/secret agents I'd say were a side effect of action/adventure. Technically Eric Braeden (Y&R debut February 8, 1980) precedes Tristan Rogers (General Hospital debut December 2, 1980) in the foreign accent game. For whatever reason, Bill Bell didn't have Eric adopt an American accent but he also didn't factor in Eric's German heritage into Victor's back story.

Ratings From the 90's
Y&R been hitting 8+ since late May 1990. They are so far ahead of the pack. I haven't done a deep dive into 1991-1994 ratings yet, but I'm pretty sure Y&R dominates in the sense that they are far ahead of everyone until the start of OJ. We know that Y&R dominance was threatened in the aftermath of OJ when Reilly's Days blew up.

B&B June 25, 1990 Clarke and Sally get married. Y&R July 9, 1990 we saw during the classics. Nikki puts on a show at The Colonnade Room. B&B July 18, 1990 Caroline death. I cried so much afterward. July 16-20, 1990 As the World Turns in 2nd. @Soapsuds will be so happy to see this. Guiding Light July 20, 1990 Rick Hearst debut. Days getting a boost from the shipwreck. Only three months left of the supercouple era. One Life to Live is tanking.

Nikki's substance abuse was from self-medicating after a fall from a horse that resulted in a miscarriage and a back injury. She hardly left the ranch during the time she was self-medicating.

@Khan Days in between the shipwreck and Deidre Hall return had Stephen Nichols departure, which was considered the end of the supercouple era. I believe Stephen Nichols departure was in October 1990.

ALL: Favourite slaps on soaps
I hail Queen Stephanie and her bitch slaps were everything. It's a shame that the classics did not give us a week of the best of Queen Stephanie and her bitch slaps.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
@Soapsuds Those are the averages for the two weeks ending February 17, 1985 and February 24, 1985. Here's what happened on the soaps and two rookie hits those weeks. The Cosby Show - Vanessa's New Class (episode 18, February 14, rating 26.6, #1): Vanessa receives her first disappointing grade in school after her classmates made better science projects. Dallas - The Brothers Ewing (February 15, rating 25.0, 2nd): Miss Ellie sides with Clayton against her children. Ray and J.R. unite to fight Cliff. Sue Ellen agrees to accompany Pam to Hong Kong. Dynasty - Circumstantial Evidence (February 13, rating 23.4, 5th): Amanda spends the night with Prince Michael and then is heartbroken to learn he is engaged. Blake, Alexis, Dex, and Amanda travel to Acapulco for a conference. Krystle is disturbed when she calls Blake's hotel room and Alexis answers. Knots Landing - Rough Edges (February 14, rating 20.7, 11th): Joshua apologizes to Cathy and says he's making a lot of mistakes as he's never had a girlfriend before but he's unhappy without her. Galveston's men contact Greg and want to transfer power to him, but he refuses. Murder, She Wrote - Paint Me a Murder (episode 15, February 17, rating 20.5, 13th): A legendary artist's birthday celebration on a Mediterranean island paradise takes a turn when a murder occurs. Falcon Crest - Forsaking All Others (February 15, rating 19.4, 17th): Melissa and Cole want to wed. Lance learns Julia is alive. Lorraine considers the problems of pregnancy. Lance's trial date is set. Dallas - Shattered Dreams (February 22, rating 25.8, #1): A witness in Jenna's case is found dead. Cliff offers Jamie a job. Lucy learns Eddie has been romancing Betty. J.R. confides in Mandy. This episode is notable in that Dallas would not get another #1 episode until the season finale, and Dallas would not finish ahead of a new episode of The Cosby Show until the series finale. The Cosby Show - Clair's Case (episode 19, February 21, rating 25.1, 3rd): Cliff takes over the house chores while Clair investigates a shady mechanic. Of note is that the remaining five episodes of The Cosby Show season 1 would all finish at #1. Dynasty - The Collapse (February 20, rating 24.6, 4th): Tensions between Krystle and Blake mount as their suspicions of one another grow. Claudia regrets sleeping with Adam. Alexis hires a private detective to investigate the circumstances surrounding Jeff's marriage to Nicole. Murder, She Wrote - Tough Guys Don't Die (episode 16, February 24, rating 21.7, 11th): While doing research for her next book, Jessica hires a private detective to investigate a 25-year-old unsolved murder case. When the detective is killed, his partner Harry McGraw steps in to take his place. With Jessica's help, he tries to figure out which of the three cases his colleague was working on could contain the motive for his death. Falcon Crest - Recriminations (February 22, rating 20.2, 15th): Angela prevents Cole and Melissa's union. Lance prevents Lorraine's abortion. Richard hires Cassandra. Julia departs for a convent. Knots Landing - The Emperor's Clothes (February 21, rating 18.8, 21st): Ben's Empire Valley probe angers Gary. Joshua asserts his power. Galveston's aide threatens Laura. Karen begins to believe Valene.

Ratings from the 80's
@tybuki It bears repeating. NBC was a mess across the board in the early 1980s. Daytime starting showing signs of life in 1983 w/ the start of supercouple Days. Primetime didn't recover until Fall 1984 when The Cosby Show premiered.

Ratings From the 90's
This was the last Memorial Day that CBS broadcast NBA Playoffs. B&B this week Hunter Tylo debut. Y&R June 15, 1990 Tonya Lee Williams debut. B&B June 18, 1990 was rebroadcast as a holiday classic in the 2000s. Caroline asks Brooke to be there for Ridge after her death. Guiding Light this week Roger and Mindy become involved and Alan-Michael and Blake get married. Days got a boost this week. It must have been from the shipwreck storyline. I know that storyline was considered the last big action/adventure storyline of the supercouple era.

Knots Landing
Knots Landing was effectively over when Donna Mills left. Nicollette Sheridan practically ate the show during the final five seasons and those were a chore for me to get through.

@j swift 1970s might have had scenes at parties in homes or entertainment venues that featured pop music in the background.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Not just that, but Larsa didn't exactly grow up working class either. Her father apparently is a well-known real estate developer in Chicago, so I'd think she's got some family money too. I remember some NBA gossip sites once referring to Larsa as a Persian princess even though her family roots are in Syria (father) and Lebanon (mother). The princess reference had to have been to her family money.
