  1. Usher bringing back that 90s R&B sound.
  2. When was this, and is it online? I miss Terry Lester even to this day. Besides Y&R and As The World Turns, I also watched him as a celebrity player on Dick Clark's $25000/$100000 Pyramid and he was really good at the game. It's unfortunate that he left Y&R under a not so ideal situation; part of me wished that he would somehow return to Y&R but it wasn't meant to be sadly.
  3. I was looking at Billboard Hot 100 chart history and The Weeknd is the 41st artist to have 5 or more #1s on the chart. Those 41 are broken down to 17 male solo artists, 14 female solo artists, and 10 duos/groups. Male Solo Artists w/ 5 or More #1s 18: Elvis Presley 13: Michael Jackson 10: Stevie Wonder 9: Elton John, Usher 8: George Michael 7: Phil Collins, Bruno Mars, Drake 5: Lionel Richie, Prince, Diddy, Ludacris, Eminem, Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd Female Solo Artists w/ 5 or More #1s 19: Mariah Carey 14: Rihanna 12: Madonna 11: Whitney Houston 10: Janet Jackson 9: Katy Perry 6: Diana Ross, Paula Abdul, Beyonce 5: Barbra Streisand, Olivia Newton-John, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Taylor Swift Duos/Groups w/ 5 or More #1s 20: The Beatles 12: The Supremes 9: The Bee Gees 8: The Rolling Stones 6: Wings, Hall & Oates 5: The Four Seasons, The Eagles, KC and the Sunshine Band, Boyz II Men Bubbling Under (4 #1s) Male Solo Artists: Bobby Vinton, John Denver, Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, Nelly, 50 Cent, Jay-Z, Kanye West, T.I., Pharrell, Sean Paul, Post Malone Female Solo Artists: Donna Summer, Celine Dion, Cher, Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys, Pink, Adele, Lady Gaga Duos/Groups: The Jackson 5, The Temptations, Blondie, The Beach Boys, Bon Jovi, Roxette, TLC, Destiny's Child, Maroon 5
  4. I agree. I think her handlers (mainly Clive Davis) did a really good job of hiding it.
  5. There was a week in 2015 where between Drake, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, and their fellow Canadians Shawn Mendes and Alessia Cara, they had 7 of the Billboard Hot 100's Top 10.
  6. The Weeknd joins Drake and Justin Bieber in the group of Canadian artists that have had 5 or more #1s on the Billboard Hot 100. Besides these three, the Canadian artists w/ the most #1s on the Billboard Hot 100 are Bryan Adams (4), Celine Dion (4), and Nelly Furtado (3).
  7. Is it legal to sell your VHS recordings of television programs on eBay? AFAIK CBS/Sony never released any VHS/DVD/BluRay episode compilations of Y&R.
  8. Agree, 2006 onward are not classics.
  9. So we have MTS to thank for PB getting hired.
  10. From watching 1993 to March 1994 online, it was definitely the Buzz hour. In all honesty, it was quite a chore to get through the episodes from Maureen's death to Nancy Curlee's departure. JFP did bring the ratings up in 1991/1992, but I agree, all the momentum was lost after Beverlee McKinsey's departure. So the only good producer GL had in it's last 25 years was Robert Calhoun?
  11. I think this was Nancy Curlee's last episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bklg0iXFHnU
  12. I was thinking Rags as in the tabloid press. That title sounds way too cheesy Didn't Bill Bell Jr. and Maria Arena Bell create a show called "Coming of Age" but for whatever reason CBS passed on it.
  13. Wasn't B&B's original setting supposed to be a newspaper in Chicago, hence the title Rags?
  14. The Olympics I remember CBS broadcasting were Albertville 1992, Lillehammer 1994, Nagano 1998. 1992 was the last year Winter Olympics and Summer Olympics were held in the same year, therefore no Winter Olympics in 1996. Monday February 20, 1989 and Monday February 19, 1990 were NBA Basketball afternoon games; those two dates were President's Day. CBS Sports coverage of NBA Basketball was 1973-1990. Two other NBA dates for your list: Monday May 27, 1985 and Monday May 26, 1986 were NBA Finals afternoon games; those two dates were Memorial Day.
  15. I think this might be CBS Sports coverage of the Lillehammer Olympics. I think this might be CBS Sports coverage of the Albertville Olympics. CBS Sports' last Olympics was Nagano in 1998. If CBS did pre-empt the weekday daytime schedule for coverage of the Nagano Olympics, the most likely date would be Monday February 16, 1998, which was also President's Day.
  16. So it looks like CBS Seattle aired Search for Tomorrow. I wonder if CBS Seattle aired Capitol or if their noon news became one hour after CBS ended Search for Tomorrow. I know B&B didn't air in Seattle until 1994 so it's possible their CBS station had a 1 hour noon news from 1982-1994. Interesting that your Western Washington listings also included nearby Canadian cities and their network affiliates. No Y&R on the Vancouver stations back then. I know Another World was huge in Canada for a long time (the cancellation was even covered on CTV's national news) but I'm guessing Y&R overtook it in popularity sometime in the 1990s. I'm curious to know if viewers in Buffalo/Niagara Falls could pick up Global Toronto and watch the day-ahead Y&R.
  17. I've gotten through all of 1993 and I'm planning to watch 1994 until Nancy Curlee leaves the writing team. I know Alan returned in summer 1994, and Annie Dutton arrived in fall/winter 1994, but are any of the post-Curlee 1994 storylines worth watching?
  18. B&B in the Northwest states is interesting. As far as Washington goes, Spokane and Yakima aired it from day 1 it seems (there was a 1990 episode posted in the B&B old articles thread that was recorded from the CBS station in Yakima) but Seattle didn't air B&B until 1994. I think Portland was another city that didn't air B&B until the mid-1990s, but I'm not sure about the rest of Oregon or even Idaho.
  19. You're welcome @Franko . I'm sure you can unearth some more info. Seeing the schedules of different cities we get ideas as to which network is strongest in each market. It's been posted here over the years that CBS is strong in the Midwest and South and ABC is strong in the Northeast and West Coast. Not sure where NBC fits in regionally. I've always found it interesting that Y&R's number one CBS station was not one of the flagships (WCBS New York, KCBS Los Angeles), or even WBBM Chicago, considering Y&R films in Los Angeles at CBS Television City and the Bells were based in Chicago for years. I read once that on an international level Y&R's number one station is Global Toronto.
  20. The real Brooke Hogan was born in Tampa Bay on May 5, 1988. So her parents didn't get her name from B&B and thus had no idea how their daughter's name would end up being used by soap fan sites/message boards.
  21. The Spellings: Aaron and his spawn Tori and Randy Susan Lucci/Liza Huber
  22. I've often wondered if Bill Bell's original intention in 1990 was to pair Brooke with Eric (elements of the Jill/Phillip/Katherine and Jill/Stuart/Liz storylines from Y&R) or if he changed the storyline because KKL became pregnant in real life.
  23. This must have been Nancy Curlee's last major storyline https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1SsQHgcz2s
  24. Now we're at the end of the 1980s and getting to Y&R remaining at #1 until today. It's amazing that Y&R was in so much flux during the 1980s (1 hour expansion, time slot changes, 3 EPs, big cast changes) yet managed to survive and thrive.
  25. Keesha's race was never stated, but I'm sure it was implied that she was African-American, even though the actresses that portrayed her were of Puerto Rican and Italian heritage respectively.
