  1. Justin Bieber is the 10th male solo artist to reach 7 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100. He is the 22nd artist to reach 7 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100. Among artists not from the United States, Justin Bieber is the 9th artist to reach 7 #1s. He is also the second Canadian artist to reach 7 #1s. I still cannot believe that Justin Bieber has more #1s than Prince.
  2. I'd forgotten that Lane Davies was a temporary Ridge.
  3. Bill Bell also reused Peggy's relationship with her college professor storyline for Traci. Chris Brooks's storylines were reused for B&B's Caroline. 1987 Ashley's psychiatric hospital also had an aggressive Black patient.
  4. The Forrester sons had the same number of recasts as almost all their Y&R prototypes. 2 Snappers, 2 Lances, 2 Ridges. 4 Gregs, 1 Lucas, 4 Thornes.
  5. Bill Bell reused Leslie's emotional breakdown and Lorie's parentage storylines for Ashley.
  6. Cardi B is the 17th female solo artist to reach 5 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100. When all artists are counted, Cardi B is the 44th artist to reach 5 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100. Cardi B is also the first female rapper to reach 5 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100 and the fifth rapper overall to reach 5 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100. The rappers with 5 or more #1s on the Billboard Hot 100 are Drake (8), Diddy (5), Ludacris (5), Eminem (5), Cardi B (5).
  7. You forgot Jennifer Gareis in your recast list. The rest of the spring doesn't get better LOL. First half of 1997 was a lull and Y&R almost lost #1 to Reilly's Days in late June. Things pick up during the second half of 1997 with Malcolm and Olivia wedding, a drunk Nick unknowingly sleeps with Grace, Daniel's paternity reveal leading to Danny and Phyllis divorce and custody battle, Victor and Diane wedding, arrival of Veronica, Heather Tom returns as Victoria and Victoria catches Cole with Ashley, Phyllis and Michael become friends with benefits. I think that covers the main storylines.
  8. If we do not count Elvis Presley's 11 Pre-Billboard Hot 100 #1s, Drake is 6th male solo artist to reach 8 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100. The male solo artists with 8 or more #1s on the Billboard Hot 100 are Michael Jackson (13), Stevie Wonder (10), Elton John (9), Usher (9), George Michael (8), Drake (8). If we do not count Elvis Presley's 11 Pre-Billboard Hot 100 #1s, Drake is the 16th artist to reach 8 #1s. Drake is the 7th artist not from the United States to reach 8 #1s on the Billboard Hot 100. The artists not from the United States with 8 or more #1s on the Billboard Hot 100 are The Beatles (20), Rihanna (14), The Bee Gees (9), Elton John (9), The Rolling Stones (8), George Michael (8), Drake (8). Drake cements his record as the Canadian artist with most #1s on the Billboard Hot 100.
  9. OMG this is gonna be good. What a lineup!
  10. @ironlion @sheilaforever 1998 was the last excellent year on the whole.
  11. Maybe it's me but I've always gotten the impression that British society on the whole is very class-based, which is rather sad in this day and age.
  12. Hahaha. We all know EB loves dropping F-bombs when he rants to the soap press.
  13. Wow, you remember the week that the frat party started 😆 So instead of the Vietnam rewrite, you would have had Keemo be John's son? Keemo's birth year was established as 1972 and Dina abandoned the family in 1971 so the timeline works. John in his devastation over Dina's abandonment turns to Luan, resulting in Keemo.
  14. No Winter Olympics in 1989. February 20, 1989 was President's Day and CBS aired an NBA Basketball afternoon game.
  15. Bill Bell gave an interview around 1996 where he regretted having wrote the story where Malcolm took advantage of Dru. Well, the frat party started in June 1994.
  16. Thanks @FrenchFan for these recaps. I am loving reading about Vanessa Prentiss.
  17. Hahaha. Yeah, Marc was way too Dynasty. That was fine for 1983, 1984 when Dynasty was at the height of it's popularity, but by 1987, 1988 Dynasty was way past it's prime. Another late to the party Dynasty element Y&R used: Victor moving from the ranch to a luxury penthouse that was more befitting of a foreign diva. I see what you did there Ed Scott 😆
  18. I can't see Terry Lester playing out any of Jack's 1990s storylines.
  19. Summer teen/social issue storylines didn't really become a thing on Y&R until Cricket arrived.
  20. We're going to be seeing "All I Want For Christmas Is You" hit #1 every December.
  21. I think the Christmas 1980 scene was a flashback from Julia's 2002 return but I could be wrong. 1980-1981 Julia was Bill Bell's version of Sue Ellen Ewing.
  22. Usher - Bad Habits (Official Video) - YouTube
  23. From watching the August 1988 episodes featuring the summer social issue AIDS storyline, does anyone else find the dialogue a little too heavy handed? I know the time the story took place was during the height of the AIDS crisis and Bill Bell was trying to educate the audience but still, it came across as very PSA.
  24. @BetterForgotten You forgot Olivia Newton-John in the list of female solo artists w/ multiple Billboard Hot 100 #1s before the Madonna/Whitney dominance during the second half of the 1980s. Madonna's 4th #1 Papa Don't Preach made her only the 5th female solo artist to reach 4 #1s; the four female solo artists that had reached 4 #1s prior to Madonna were Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Olivia Newton-John, Donna Summer.
