  1. Well Bill Bell did reuse the Jill/Phillip and Jill/Stuart storylines for Brooke/Eric. I also think he changed Brooke's storyline because KKL became pregnant in real life.
  2. For B&B fans in French-speaking countries, here's a good resource https://www.soap-passion.com/amour-gloire-et-beaute/ As of now, France is at February 4, 2019, Luxembourg is at March 11, 2019, and Switzerland is at January 30, 2020. Looks like Switzerland will be getting repeats in a few months. One of the French language channels in Canada is at March 13, 2019.
  3. Bill Bell liked the messy matriarchs LOL.
  4. You're welcome @BoldRestless As of now, France is at June 20, 2017, Belgium is at July 6, 2017, and Switzerland is at July 11, 2017. One of the French language channels in Canada is at June 18, 2012. Any Canadians here watching the French episodes in addition to the Global day-ahead episodes?
  5. @BoldRestless From the descriptions on https://www.tf1.fr/tf1/les-feux-de-l-amour , I'd say the episodes are from June 2017. Also https://www.soap-passion.com/les-feux-de-l-amour/ for other French speaking countries.
  6. Bill Bell used elements of Vanessa/Lance/Lucas for Stephanie/Ridge/Thorne and the Lance/Lucas/Leslie/Lorie quadrangle for the Ridge/Thorne/Caroline/Brooke quadrangle. Oddly enough John McCook played son to Vanessa and husband to Stephanie; I know John McCook left Y&R in 1980 so the 1981 episode will have the recast Lance. From what I've read about Vanessa, she's probably the scariest of Bill Bell's wealthy matriarchs (Jennifer, Katherine, Vanessa, Dina, Stephanie).
  7. In a way, I'm relieved I stopped watching live as of Fall 1992. It would have been painful to witness the destruction as it unfolded. Speaking of which, this month marks 25 years since JFP left as EP.
  8. Nikki and Paul were originally together in 1978/1979 and reunited briefly in 2008 to 2009. I don't count the rewrite of the Summer 1980 cult storyline that resulted in Nikki and Paul having Dylan.
  9. I still miss Terry Lester to this day but I prefer Jess Walton to Brenda Dickson. I also can't believe that Amelia Heinle has played Victoria the longest of all the actresses in that role, and that by this fall Heather Tom will have played Katie just as long as she played Victoria (13 years).
  10. Victor and Sharon were never shown in bed together. There was one scene where they held hands and walked upstairs together so the bedroom activities were implied. Victor and Jack have both been with Nikki, Leanna, Diane, Sharon, Genevieve.
  11. I'll watch episodes up to 2005. 2006 onward are not classics. Between LML, Josh Griffith, MAB, Paul Rauch, JFP, Chuck Pratt, Mal Young, Sally Sussman, Anthony Morina, I would say MAB is the lesser of nine evils despite her love for former sitcom actors and ABC leftovers.
  12. @Soapsuds Hahaha. Besides, I think that beef was aired out and squashed some years back.
  13. We all know Y&R has issues BTS, but I don't think rampant substance abuse was one of them. I figure Bill Bell probably heard about what was going on BTS at ABC/P&G during the 1980s and wasn't going to allow that at his shows. BB strikes me as the type that would have a zero tolerance policy at his shows. Remember JC went to rehab in the 1980s and it was also rumored BB fired B&B's first Thorne due to substance abuse.
  14. OMG I can't wait for next week 😍
  15. I remember Marguerite Ray appeared in the Y&R E! True Hollywood Story segment about BD so I think she was in the list of those that had beef w/ BD. Someone needs to compile a "who's had beef with whom" chart for Y&R 🤣
  16. At the time of the Mamie recast, Marguerite Ray was 59 and Veronica Redd was 41. Veronica Redd is about a decade older than both Tonya Lee Williams and Victoria Rowell, and 20 years younger than Norma Donaldson, who arrived later that year as Mamie's sister/Olivia and Dru's mother Lillie Belle.
  17. Dru, Olivia, Sheila arrive in May 1990 and Mamie is recast that same month. Dru and Sheila's first episodes were online years ago, but I don't think Olivia's first appearance has surfaced online.
  18. Cassandra reminded me of those film noir shady ladies. The murder mystery story started good but it dragged on too long; I remember it going on for about a year.
  19. After a best of Queen Stephanie week, there should be a best of Sally Spectra week. It was Sally's arrival that was the turning point of B&B.
  20. My online watching for the first time was episodes from September 1992 to March 1994 (I watched Spring 1989 to Summer 1992 both live and online). After Maureen's death, it was the Buzz hour. I stopped my online watching when I got to Nancy Curlee's last episode.
  21. Those four are the Abbotts to me. Y&R made a big mistake killing off John Abbott, he was the heart of the family. I still miss Terry Lester. I often wonder how he would've played Jack's 1990s storylines, if he would've gotten a Lead Actor Daytime Emmy after his 4 consecutive 1980s nominations, and if he would have eventually left Y&R before the end of his life. Much like the original families, the Abbotts were almost all recasts less than a decade into their introduction, yet Bill Bell kept the Abbotts on instead of replacing them with a new family.
  22. All hail Queen Stephanie. I want a week of her best bitch slaps from 1987 to 1999 🤣
  23. I remember Leanna disappearing without any explanation in early 1992 but Barbara Crampton remained in the opening credits until that summer I think. I don't remember Leanna returning until 1998 during the Victor/Diane divorce.
  24. CBS Daytime on the whole was so awesome in the late 1980s/early 1990s. There was the game show block and all four daytime dramas were amazing to watch. OMG, I can't believe we get to see an early 1980s episode! An all Victor week should include EB's first episode, Victor sees Nikki at the Bayou, EB's first scenes w/ TL and ED. I never thought much of Mark Derwin's acting on Y&R and then a few months after his role on Y&R ends he shows up on Guiding Light as a detective. Talk about contrasts in characters LOL. It was surprising to me how he became so popular on GL, with winning a 1993 Soap Opera Digest Award for Hottest Male Star (he beat Antonio Sabato Jr. for that award) and being nominated for Lead Actor at the 1993 Daytime Emmys.
  25. Had no idea. Now I'm embarrased. Other storylines from the lull period: A new chemist at Jabot was to be a love interest for Ashley but that pairing tanked; I can't remember the character's name but the actor was the same one who was Shawn Garrett a decade earlier. There was also little Daniel getting meningitis that lead to Danny and Phyllis getting together, and Cassie's arrival. By the second half of 1997 things starting picking up (Olivia and Malcolm's wedding, the custody battle for Daniel, Victor's pursuit of Diane) and that lead to an excellent 25th anniversary year in 1998.
