  1. That was a desperation play, AFAIK. Susan turned down Dena Higley's story and he had gambled that he could net Sarah Brown as the only supposedly unimpeachable recast of that role to pair with Michael Easton. Except I believe Sarah also turned it down, which left him scrambling to find anyone to play Marty when he should have scrapped it. I don't think Frank is dumb enough to recast Brenda, especially when he didn't do it with Robin even in a period when he still had most online soap press on his side. I do think he wants Brenda out of the picture for reasons myself, Darn and caroline have all enumerated, though of course we're not the only ones. Some characters and performers are too big for Frank to corral, and he's had enough trouble with that with Genie Francis (and in a different way, Tony Geary). I think it's the same reason he may or may not have rejected any supposed overtures from Jonathan Jackson, who has claimed in the past to be willing to come back but who knows.
  2. LMAO, he is at least 10 years too young and looks far younger. Leave Jax where he is. It remains to be seen if Mansi works, flops (a Dex triangle is not promising) or leaves either way for another shot outside daytime. Either way, if she doesn't it'll be Lexi back in again. This ain't the first carousel for Kristina.
  3. I'm still trying to find a way to bypass the Puck News paywall. Those people are gossipy insects and I refuse to give them my email.
  4. LOL at the Gottlieb-era opening getting a veiled reference in this week's Yellowjackets.
  5. Speaking of this era, in honor of Liz Hubbard I did dive into those Walsh takeover episodes in addition to my existing binge (I'm still plugging away in the summer of '86). Really great work by Liz (and good support by Heather Rattray). I hadn't realized this is when she founded Worldwide. Her examining her life and some of her choices seems like it is the intro to going into her backstory with her mother and her siblings, unless I miss my guess - did that fully pan out, or was that a little later? Did John leave Lucinda over something with Cal Stricklyn or something else? They appear to be together here but on the rocks; I remember seeing their divorce in the Bahamas or wherever episode but I don't remember much else about it or when. I also know nothing about Linc Lafferty, though I've heard about James Wlcek before. It is notable how many very physically similar yuppie white men the show has at this point. Many of them are hot, but still. I am always amused whenever yet another 'heir/spouse to a business fortune' turns up in Marland's work - the latest here appears to be Darryl Crawford inheriting the DeWitt fortune, just like Lily was a heiress, Quint on GL, Vanessa, I think Doug Cummings may have had family money, and soon there will be Rosanna Cabot. But hey, don't knock it if it works. I did always like the throughline from Holden coming on as the sexually aggressive, somewhat scheming stablehand who's good at math and aspires to bigger things who later moves up in life (just like Meg) and becomes an executive. I don't think there was anything particularly interesting about the Holden I've seen after Marland left, but when he was there I always think there's a charge to the character in the stuff I've watched. Especially the ice in his veins businessman Holden who (whenever I see that iteration of the character) seems to have completely transformed himself, maybe because of that whole amnesia thing. But I'm only seeing snapshots so I really shouldn't talk. I don't know when he totally became a boring doughy suburban dad, but it was there by the late '90s.
  6. Alice Krige in the sound booth:
  7. Marci is really good and I'd be all for her as Lulu. Frankly they could also stand to poach Dan Feuerriegel (did I spell it right at a glance?). He's wasted and GH needs better leading men. The show could use another sexy younger WSB guy or Cassadine.
  8. It could be true. But often in TV these kind of things are called 'mutual decisions' to allow the past performer to save face.
  9. I saw that too. Lisa has said before she thinks they were going to try to recast Brenda but didn't, and has said she probably would've turned the role down because as a viewer she knew it would've been suicide. I think it was all just tactics tbh. I do love that Lisa has never stopped roasting her terrible OLTL role. I was so excited to see her again after Loving/The City and then that happened. She was originally up for an even worse role on OLTL, that of Michael Easton's former partner/lover.
  10. I'm completely unsurprised by this news.
  11. I have no faith that Frank offered her anything but a guest spot or recurring stints. If he tried to do it to Genie he definitely tried to do it to VM. Vanessa is wild on a good day but she knows her worth.
  12. I'm sure they did stuff to try to spook VM. But I truly don't think they'd have ever gone through with it at least after '02 (JFP might've been dumb enough on her own pre-Guza). Same here. She's right to do it tbh!
  13. I think she's just doing Vanessa tbqh. I have a hard time believing they intend to recast, though allegedly Frank did once try to put over Budig as Robin lol. I can see them maybe asking her to come back as a guest spot or on recurring and VM laughing it off (which she should).
  14. Because they have no real investment in the Davis girls as is and wanted to get a popular soap name. I had not reckoned with the possibility of having to endure a triangle when Dex and Joss are already boring as hell but if it happens that will be mute material for me. Dex cannot get through scenes without choking up like Jamie Foxx's old impression of Terrence Howard and his true passion is for Sonny.
  15. Dex and anyone is a recipe for sleep.
  16. I remember people defending Lindsey Morgan's Kristina. These people were high and wrong! I know she went on to bigger and better things but she was real bad. Granted, Lexi came back and turned in some less than thrilling performances after that, but she's been here forever and she's not really been tested with anything substantive in many years. (Don't get me started on their not giving Hailey Pullos a real shot to sell legal eagle stuff, and this latest baby story sucks.)
  17. Lord. I like Kate fine, but Lexi could've handled new material. Watch Kristina beng bi go out the fuckin' window and get memoryholed now!
  18. IIRC Frisco has been in charge of the WSB off and on since at least 2012.
  19. No! He just had a mustache! He came on wearing a hoodie with a pornstache, threw Fake Nikolas out a window and we were all supposed to accept him hanging around having taken the Cassadine estate by force and through some skullduggery or something. That's around when I stopped watching full time for years. He was always deeply unintimidating to me. Then they tried to soften him up with Stafford's Nina and the mutant rape child.
  20. At this point I am convinced all Helena's gassing up of Valentin as 'the most dangerous Cassadine' was a red herring for someone much worse in the background. (And yes, I had a dumb idea of my own as always)
  21. Classic Fallon. Update: He buckled.
  22. Donnell will be out here astroturfing FB comment sections with burner accounts demanding 'more Curura/Laurtis.' It's been done before in this business!
