  1. That's one way to make use of an empty Macy's, I guess. My only question is if there were no Covid-19, would officials have detected the PCBs in the school building and soil?
  2. This doesn't deserve space in the Politics Thread, is notable nonetheless. It probably should have gone in the Hollywood harassment thread but eh, he's got so many cases against him that don't classify as Hollywood, it almost matters little where these awful news items are placed.
  3. Seems that those QAnon crazies are disappointed that no instances of child trafficking (or human trafficking of any kind) were found on the EverGiven container ship. What depraved people. Speaking of depraved people, another Republican touts initiatives that he voted against. And gets lots of pushback for it on Twitter.
  4. And Sharon Collins, on Y&R. Personally, I think it has rarely been employed well as a device. ATWT was particularly dumb, since we have actual scenes of Iva insisting that she could clearly recall every detail of giving birth to Lily. At least with Sharon, the specifics of her giving birth were never clarified in detail, so it didn't look as idiotic when TPTB attempted to rewrite the story.
  5. Seeing Iva tell Lucinda that she can remember the day and the hour she gave birth to Lily makes it even dumber that there was ever a Rose. The reason why Iva failed to remember she had two whole babies was absurd.
  6. The Lost Boys have some muthaf*ckin variety to their games (and the charisma to go with it), at least. Many of the NextGeners don't hold my interest.
  7. And CBS dumped ATWT for this?! I thought about bumping that article to the next page with a quote post but the less I have to look at Sharon's botched plastic surgery, the better off I'll be.
  8. Unfortunately, I don't think those episodes are on YouTube. If they are, I have yet to see them. There may a very short part of a scene when it's mentioned that Barbara had confessed to Kim and Bob about her part in driving a wedge between Tom and Margo. There are many pivotal scenes missing from YouTube.
  9. Sorry but there's no earthly way that Holmes and Dolan could've pulled off the sexiness that either Colin and Deas or Bailey and Marx portrayed. No disrespect intended, but no one will ever convince me otherwise. Dolan was perfect for the matriarchal role that she portrayed as Maureen Bauer but she bears no resemblance in mannerisms or characteristics to either Colin or Bailey-Smith. I don't think it's just the writing, although I do think the writing eventually was adjusted to suit Holmes and Dolan's perceived strengths.
  10. Believe it or not, I thought about this a few times and after watching one of the reunion livestreams last year, and hearing Gregg Marx say that Marland offered to hold his role open for him for nearly a year, in case Marx changed his mind and elected to return, I can only think that it may have been a combination of factors-- one big one, perhaps being that Marland was pressured to fill the role quickly, after leaving it vacant for so long. Another factor that I thought of was actor availability. Perhaps the top choices were all booked, and SH was available and seemed to have relatively decent chemistry with HBS, his on-screen wife Margo? So, perhaps he seemed to be a serviceable choice at the time. Something else that came to mind when Gregg Marx was talking about how unusual Marland's offer was- Marland may simply have decided that he wasn't going to find another available actor with the same appeal and chemistry that Marx had in the role, so he may have decided to just take the character in a completely different direction, personality and temperament-wise. And it seems somewhat evident when you consider how quickly Tom and Margo slid into the role of a middle aged, more settled couple after ED settled into the role of Margo. Soon after, Tom and Margo ceased to be that fiery couple, full of passion and pathos that they had been in the previous decade. For me, it was definitely a come down.
  11. Oh my, he repeated stereotypes too? I sort of remember the psychiatric storyline but I must have forgotten details over the years. I was in elementary school back then, I probably wouldn't have recognized the stereotype anyway. In 1987, at least viewers would have seen Detective Frank Lewis, his daughter Amy Lewis and Nathan Hastings was on the canvas by then, I think. The presence of those characters must have dulled any negative impact of that asylum character.
  12. The CBS brand is trash. Sharon was an albatross that needed to be dumped but the show had been losing viewers already so extending the controversy would only hasten the bleeding. If people want to see racism served up for ratings, they can find a stream of The Real World reunion on Paramount+. At least people care about those people. Very few people actually care about The Talk to that extent. Like someone else said, the news cycle moves fast and people were already moving onto other news stories.
  13. Why did she have to be the pig, terrorizing poor Leslie? White midwestern ladies must've been scandalized.
  14. One thing that I really appreciate whenever I get a chance to see episodes from this era of Y&R is the use of colloquial dialogue. As much as I love writing/hearing elevated dialogue, when it comes to seeing scenes that are supposed to feature people from everyday walk of life, a natural sounding dialogue usually works best. And it's so much more meaningful than the constant snark and one-liners that present day Y&R seems to prefer, at times. The acting seems solid and the patients and "Brett" all seem terrible, but did they have to make the one black character seem so overtly aggressive? She was bordering on terrorizing Leslie!. Just oof.
  15. Here's an actual news item where someone likely prevented a mass shooting. Honestly, people who work in the supermarket, shopping and delivery services just don't get paid enough.
  16. My thoughts exactly. People forgot about what happened the last time folks decided to count Georgia voters out of the equation.
  17. So these people, who dropped their other "Lost Cause", after it flopped, have latched onto conspiracy theory mongering over the vaccines. Someone needs to start following the money because, guaranteed, there are people making money from this, as they were with the other Lost Cause.🙄
  18. That scene where Lucinda informs her new butler that she calls all her butlers "Matthew", despite the fact that his name is Steven.🥴
  19. Here is the video. I think there is something really wrong with these people.
  20. While many people may be tweaked by him, I thought this video had some interesting insights into the nature of power and privilege and some humans seeming need to codify and enshrine these aspects in other humans, like the monarchy. I guess my question has always been why this is, especially in an age in which we are supposed to be so enlightened as a species.
  21. 90% of the WHPC need to be removed in favor of reporters who actually want to do their jobs. That press conference was an apt illustration of this.
  22. In her defense, Madison had COVID-19 and hasn't really played all year. Also, Keys has never developed a Plan B in her game. And she needs one.
