ALL: Couples you are surprised never reconciled for good
I'm glad Althea and Nick didn't reunite. They were toxic together.

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
My company already had their Christmas gathering last week in person. It was a lot of fun, and no covid cases 8 days and counting. Some good news: An at home treatment got authorization...so maybe in 2022 will be the year it does become like the flu or cold. https://www.yahoo.com/news/pfizer-pill-becomes-1st-us-172038134.html

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
Also in the US, patches of the US spared from Delta's reach (Northeast especially) are getting hit pretty hard from Delta and Omricon variants the last few weeks. The places in the US to see if recent immunity from Delta will provide some protection from a huge Omricon surge will be places like Texas (I was moving from Austin when Delta cases were sky high during the summer), Mississippi, Florida, etc. Lastly, if we truly were following the science...we would have foreseen mutations coming....and helped lower to mid income countries with vaccines, medical supplies, etc.

Like it or not, Covid isn't going away..and most people have accepted some risk to actually live life. Sad, but true.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Alexia always offered a bit of drama with ladies, plus had a lot to offer with the magazines, her 2 sons, her hubby, etc. And with her new Brady Bunch situation in season 4...that still applies

B&B: Bold from the beginning
I was curious about how season 1 ended with an episode titled in Feb 1987...and season 2 picked up in March 1988. I'm surprised that Margo and Clarke had hardly any build or hint of an involvement until a recent season 2 upload. A character like Margo is a prime example of a grey character. Some good elements, some not so good elements. Bradley could never write a character with shades like Bill Bell wrote for Margo

Unpopular opinions: cancelled soaps edition
One thing the EP of AMC did was invest in nice sets. Erica's set alone was nicely decorated in a style only Erica could live in. So while the stories were middling, at least the sets and lighting were decent. And I think Broderick managed to make the Ryan/Greenlee mandate make sense. With Gillian and Leo's visits at the end of the show, she showed that both of their loves had departed. And I could buy that Ryan and Greenlee came together because they both lost their true loves so each knew how the other felt. And I liked that Broderick sort of redeemed Janet, Annie, and Marian in those final weeks during the Oak Haven story.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
RHOC: The Dubrows are what's wrong with humans nowadays. Entitled and totally scripted. No wonder Heather's acting career tanked. She's the definition of a Karen. RHOSLC I'm waiting till the season is over to do a binge. I don't want to wait for the next episode. RHUGT: Kenya fulfills the old stereotype of a backstabbing friend. Cynthia..men make better friends then women.

All: Characters you thought would come back but never did
I agree about Zack. I liked his rebellious spirit..and he was a good contrast to Taylor..and he was good with Felicia. He even would stand up to Stephanie.

And Just Like That...
Samantha not being there took away the fun and zest that made the original show pop. While Miranda, Charlotte, and Carrie had their funny moments... the real spirit and humor came from Samantha. Considering how dour this show is, I think Kim C was smart to move on. She's always said she had a ball playing Samantha.... but that she wants to explore other characters (which she's done to varying degrees of success with the Red Riding hood fairy tale show, Filthy Rich, How I met your father and now the Queer as folk reboot). With that said, Miranda would have been the character I least expected to be an insert foot in mouth character. I wonder if that would have been intended for Samantha had Kim C returned.

All My Children Tribute Thread
I always liked Nick and Erica's interactions whenever he visited. He was kind of a father figure in the years after their relationship. Other than Nick, Palmer served as a good father figure for Erica...and oddly..she and Erica got along well in the 80s being surrogate sisters to one another (both were only children, both raised by a single parent, and abandoned by a parent).

Nina and Mollie were the 2 teen unwed pregnant teens in the summer of 1986. Mollie left with baby to reunite with her parents..and Nina ran away. Apparently Nina was meant to be a summer only character..but fan response made Bell bring her back. Summer 1991 had Julie...a pregnant drug addicted teen.

It seemed with the Brooks daughters, Bell had them in holding patterns moreso with Chris than with the other 3. Wes Kenney coming in 1982 was a godsend because he could be objective and tell Bell what was working and not working. In 1982, the William's family appeared to have more staying power then the Stevens family so it made sense why Wes said to deep six that family. Even when the William's family faded out by the latte 80s, Mary William's was more effective in a recurring element than any of the Stevens family.

All My Children Tribute Thread
Erica kind of was a mentor type in the 80s with Jenny, Greg, Dottie..and later Kendall in the early 90s (before she was revealed as Erica's daughter). I wish Erica as a mentor could have continued...Broderick had set up Gillian as someone that looked up to Erica in 1997...I just didn't understand why that didn't continue. Josh could have easily been a son figure for her..maybe made her wonder if the baby she lost with Phil..or the baby she aborted..would have been like Josh. Would have given Erica some much needed dimension that had peeled away in the last decade or so of the soap.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I remember Scott was paired 1st with Connor..but I can't recall what caused them to break up. I did think Scott and Lucinda had loads of potential..with Lucinda and Lisa not being keen on one another. And I do remember Ellen still had presence until the mid 90s. She seemed to be a mother hen to Courtney, Rod/Josh, etc...which made sense since she didn't have a strong foundation with her mom. And I do think instead of bringing back Dani in the 90s, one of Annie's kids could have stayed with her in the mid 90s..and been the 3rd wheel with Nikki/Ryder.

B&B: Bold from the beginning
Logans were dressed middle class/working class...so it makes sense their clothing is more practical then the Forrester's. And I like the bigger earrings..though the hair is a tad too big..but much better than the limp lifeless look of today.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I liked seeing Heather and Shannon with their kids. With 2 of the women now having teens..it reminds me of early recipe OC. My theory on Emily and Gina lasting: Emily is the show's attempt at a newer version of Jeana. Weight struggles, self deprecating sense of humor, odd marriage arrangement with hubby. Only thing missing is her kids are too young. Gina is what I imagine Vicky was like back in the 80s and 90s... a California transplant, basically divorced and starting over again. Time will tell if she will be like Vicky and build her own nest egg with a business...but i will say she has the best confessionals and facial expressions.

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
According to early reports, if you've had a previous infection, or been vaccinated...if you get the Omicron variant...you will have a mild case like the flu. However, if unvaxxed...well...chances of hospitalization increases. So if vaxxed...relax and enjoy your holiday. If unvaxxed, proceed with caution. Sadly the reverse will happen

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
From what I've read in regards to mutations, usually viruses will mutate to become less severe and more contagious. If the milder cases in South Africa were generally younger and unvaccinated, then maybe Omicron is proving that theory true in this case. And the 1st generation vaccines were more about preventing severe symptoms, hospitalizations, and death then it was preventing it from infecting you. I think down the line this will be a annual covid shot..much like the flu shot is annual. The flu pandemic took up to 3 years before it became endemic...so I suspect covid will eventually be like that as well someday. Also, I've has covid plus the vaccine...so I'm feeling more secure then most.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
It's odd with how dowdy they dressed Ellen in the 70s..when by the mid 80s..she had a more youthful look again. There were moments when Ellen would be fiesty..but it seemed like the show didn't know what to do with her. I figured when David was killed off in 1991..that it would open up some new avenues to explore..alas not to be.
