January 21, 201313 yr Member What was that scene from GL??? Someone posted about it here on SON as a scene that looked FAR too much like rape to be considered consensual sex. I went to YT to watch it, and I found it massively disturbing. It just goes on and on and on - a married woman is supposedly tempted to sleep with this guy, and he keeps badgering her, and she's crying, and clothes are being torn off, and the room is being trashed, and this is supposed to be hot sex? Sorry - I never really watched GL, so I have no clue who these people were.
January 21, 201313 yr Member Have him be the one JR shot... No, I wouldn't want to kill off Tad. I realize Megan McTavish did irreparable damage to him, but you never know when you might need him again, especially as long as he has children "out there" somewhere. Rather, I'd have him and Dixie leave town, because of the public stigma that lingers over her son, J.R., becoming mentally unbalanced and shooting several people (in my projections, killing Scott as well as paralyzing Jack from the waist down).
January 21, 201313 yr Member Terry McDermott. That story was soo disturbing. Lily was chatting w/him online and his screenname was "Asperger Boy" She ended up meeting with him in NYC and he was trying soo hard to get her clothes off. It was very uncomfortable to watch Jonathan faking continued brain damage so he could stay with Lily was also pretty disturbing. Frankly, I thought Jack should have asked for a refund from Lily's expensive autism boarding school - we clearly saw the character as played by a young Michelle Trachtenburg wearing red and holding Jack's hand, yet suddenly as a teenager Lily can't even look at the color red without freaking out, and no one can touch her. Ever.
January 21, 201313 yr Author Member I didn't really mean rape when I started this thread... I mean like titillating stuff. Like couldn't you just picture Kay Alden getting all hot and bothered as she penned the Victor Sperm Saga, as gross as the audience found it?

Yeah, no I am letting my hatred for the writing of the character cloud my judgement of the legacy status the character and the actor have.
January 21, 201313 yr Member And THAT, IMHO, is the problem with "super couples" - the fan following becomes a huge part of the problem in that they don't want the characters to be with anyone else. It takes a lot of creative writing to come up with adventures for them to have for years or even decades that keep the couple together and on the front-burner but still connected to the rest of the canvas. Writers get bored, actors get bored, and before you know it, everyone is tired of the endless cycle of get together/have an affair/break up, and they kill off one half of the "super couple" so they can put the other person with someone else. And that's how you end up where we were when AMC ended: Tad has come back from the dead once, Dixie has come back from the dead TWICE, and they've been married four or five times with apparently ANOTHER wedding planned. It's ridiculous. +1. They should have just left her dead that last time. At this point, I'd just rather both of them live happily ever after off-screen. January 21, 201313 yr Member It's ridiculous. IA, ellabelle. It is ridiculous. But after everything different writers had put Tad, Dixie and their viewers through, there's no other option. Either they're together, for good, serving as a new generation Joe and Ruth; or they're off-screen and maybe, down the road, one or the other can return to bail any of their SORAS'ed kids out of trouble. And if the former option isn't good enough for MEK or for Cady, then they might as well stay away.
January 21, 201313 yr Member I remember another one. The blood oozing out of Roman and Kate's wedding cake during the Salem Stalker storyline, that qualifies as gross. JT Cornell's dead body falling out of Chad and Whitney's wedding cake on Passions.
January 21, 201313 yr Member Gwen listening to Theresa get raped on Passions and not just ignoring it but turning the music up so Ethan wouldn't hear it. Who does that???
January 21, 201313 yr Member Whenever it comes to PASSIONS, especially during the latter part of their run, it's better not to ask questions.
January 21, 201313 yr Member JT Cornell's dead body falling out of Chad and Whitney's wedding cake on Passions. I remember reading about that, but never saw it. Gwen listening to Theresa get raped on Passions and not just ignoring it but turning the music up so Ethan wouldn't hear it. Who does that??? That was over the top, even for a soap. The writing on that show went too far a lot of times.
January 21, 201313 yr Member Anything with Tanner Jordan on AMC. Anything. I still have memories of Hayley's groggy POV as he was on top of her about to rape her. ::shudder:: For me, Tanner Jordan was the moment I fell out of love with AMC. That broke the spell for me. On Y&R: Malcolm's rape of Dru while she was zonked out on cold meds was a huge mistake, and they should have left that alone.
January 21, 201313 yr Member I remember reading about that, but never saw it. If I recall it was a Christmas Wedding as well!
January 21, 201313 yr Member ON Y&R: When Paul raped Christine and they wanted to confuse the audience if it was an actual assault or a seduction. When Derek raped Christine after he finished he started fixing himself something to eat. Victor forcing Michael Scott watch him and his first wife Julia make love on the closed circuit tv system while he was locked in the basement. The Sperm Saga. Hope crying how pleased she was after Goat Daddy Victor took her virginity. In the 70's Laurie Brooks fell in love with her half brother Mark Henderson and after she found out the truth she considered ignoring it. I think there was a scene where they kissed and there was a long string of spit. It was live on tape then. Pretty much anything Victor does. He keeps marrying sweet young things and knocking them up after so many vasectomies. Phyllis and Deacon's sex scene out at the dumpsters. Adam cleaning up Ashley's bloody dead fetus and making her think she was still pregnant. Nikki's father watching her undress and later trying to rape her. Both Chris Brooks and Peggy Brooks getting raped. Chris saved herself for marriage and her virginity was taken in a horrible way. The rapist was played by Anthony Geary who later raped Laura on GH.
