Tricia Cast is a strong actress, but since I don’t care about Chance (with all the cast changes), her tears won’t affect me. Besides, we know Chance isn’t dead. I blame the show for that, which doesn’t know how to surprise.

Mariah is sickening with her stories about how emotionally affected Dominic is by Abby. She needs therapy. Maybe they can get her to stop talking about Bowie.

I wish that Nick and Phyllis would both get off the show.  I have never liked Nick because of what he did to Sharon.  He cheated on her with 2 different women.  Phyllis stole 2 women's husbands and tried to kill 2 people.  She's a psychopath who belongs in prison.

Sleeps as always, especially when it comes to Y&R these days lol.

Adam vs. Billy & Lily:

Boring! With Ashland & Victoria now married the whole Gaines story is a non-story. It reminds me of that half assed retcon story about Adam killing Hope’s abuse last year that didn’t make any sense. Like that story, I don’t see anything of consequence out of this story at all.

Chance is dead?:

Yawn. It would be interesting if everyone found out Abby impulsively left to look for Chance herself, but no Abby is still written as the princess who must be locked up in the medieval castle. Yikes. At least she hasn’t had an affair with a returned Ronan who claimed he was looking for Chance.

Noah’s secret:

Potential is there but then again JG is the same HW who gave us Noah & Adrianna…yuck!

Sad.

At least Nina Is back and at least Nikki is in on some of the Newman schemes. I guess the old saying about a broken clock being right twice a day still rings true with Y&R

The rest of the show is just bland and uninspiring.‍‍

Oh @Paul Raven I had to laugh when I saw a couple April 2020 Eps air on Pluto TV over the weekend. I counter 7 extras at Crimson Lights and 5 extras at Society before they stopped for COVID

Y&R has had a hollow empty feeling for a while now. In all honesty, the last episodes I really remember enjoying were the 12000th episode and EB's 40th anniversary episode.

Who has the next big anniversary? I think it was November or December 1991 that CLB arrived as Michael, but he was gone for four years after his initial storyline so not really an anniversary.

The most thrilling moment of the 'Chance is Dead' storyline is in the Canadian November 8 / American November 9 episode there is a scene between Mariah, Devon, and Nina behind the Chancellor living room - finally I get to see what's behind the reconfigured doors. Spoiler alert: it's a hallway.

    • To bring over from the May Sweeps Thread from @Chris B   I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.   I agree. While it has been hit and miss no question, I have found it fascinating to watch what the costume designer is attempting to do with the various characters and their clothes. Some have been overdue. Some have been fascinating. But (outside of Billy) not boring to watch. I definitely find it more modern as well.   My growing issue has been it's not good that the best reason to watch Y&R as of late has been to see what people are wearing rather than the writing. It feels like a red flag.
    • Haha. The fact that I stopped regularly viewing at the same time and know what you are talking about is chef's kiss.    I'm slowly bingewatching Nurse's Ball Week. But it's slow for me because a lot of the same tics and writing flaws for me that made me throw up my hands is still evident *cough*CVE*cough* Thankfully, there are some things I like also and from a glance in the GH May Thread, it seem like it had a good Sweeps with good fallout. And do I even need to mention Nina finally slapping the taste out of Carly's mouth? See? Regardless of her flaws, I do enjoy Korte-headed episodes over CVE-headed episodes because they always seem to have more emotional resonance to long-time fans.
    • And that charity does still get mentioned from time to time. I want to say the last time was some time this year, too.
    • Oh, no. Vernon has definitely had his moments.   Choose silence anyone?
    • Search YT for Edwyn Sanchez, he posted an AI enhanced episode of ATWT and it is beautiful.
    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
