I feel Days is starting to do the B&B thing where they play stories by cycles of episodes instead of balancing the stories. We get one or two stories dominating non-stop for a week and then a different story dominating the next week instead of them being played concurrently or a balance of A-story front-burner and a couple of B stories moving on the sides.

I believe MM/BB are away for a bit currently because MM's mother passed away and she was off for awhile.  It doesn't excuse everything before though.  It's weird because Belle share scenes with Phillip, but not with Chloe or Brady in this triangle.  It's like the show is allergic to Brady/Belle scenes which is so bizarre.

It is very weird how fast this is happening since they had to plan it way in advance.  It reminds of when VM returned as Brenda in 2010 and Guza knew for months, but every single character suddenly started talking about her the day before she appeared after not mentioning her for years.  It's a little clunky and quick, but I did enjoy the show today.  I just worry about the momentum going forward long term

Well, Marlena would probably sacrifice herself for almost anyone but yeah, Belle would have made a lot of sense. It's unfortunate that she's written like an extra. Shawn and Belle deserve better treatment as younger leads. I imagine if Ron tried to have Belle possessed someone would say "who? why?" LOL and that's sad to me.

Why are they even on the show? Are they on recurring? They should be. Days needs to trim its cast. Philip needs to go. He's been a total disaster in his return. I'd get rid of Gabi too and I'd put Rafe on recurring.

So many need to go. Better writing for many of them would help but I don't have the patience anymore.

 

I agree to an extent. Why are they there? If you aren't going to write for them or use them ... I love seeing them, personally, over many others, but there's no effort to write them as their own characters really, if that makes sense. I think as legacy characters they SHOULD be there, but they're written as forgettable.

 

I guess if Justin is gone like I heard, we need a lawyer so they'll use Belle I guess. Shawn should be in Rafe's spot. Rafe should be dead.

Nadia Bjorlin, JKJ, Madison, Beemer, etc. do not need the unemployment line bc this show just brings them back every 6-9 months.

Madison has never been a lead actress and never will be so her being in the Possession is out, and I doubt you can recast Belle at this point sadly. The character has been a nonentity for the better part of 15 years.

MM/BB are on contract.

I assume Belle will be a part of this story.

And, yeah, it would have made more sense for Marlena to take Belle's place.

Because, obviously, this would never happen on a soap and Marlena would never do this, but letting Doug die to avoid unleashing the devil on an entire town/world was probably the better choice for Marlena.  Not advocating killing off Doug or anything.  It would have made more sense to be someone a little closer to Marlena.

That's what it feels like too.

 

I'd really like more mixing of the cast (it was great seeing Kayla in the Brady Pub on Friday and then later at the hospital ... mix it up!) but it seems almost impossible at times with how they schedule, plan and tape things.

I love Madison but yeah, she's not a lead actress and they aren't going to write her as one. And yep, the character has been a nonentity for so long ...

 

They've had numerous opportunities in between her firings. Would you bother recasting a character they treat like, as Vee said, a nonentity?

      I never understood the point of Marchetti. Summer left the show for a job there in Italy. OK. When she returned they had Jack buy the company. Why couldn't Summer have returned and simply stated it was not a good fit, she missed her home , family/friends etc It was absurd that this internationally successful fashion empire could just be bought by a US cosmetics firm at the drop of a hat. What was the point when they never did anything with it at all? Summer simply could have gone to work at Jabot. And wasn't there some nonsense about an offshhoot called Marchetti Home? Was Phyllis attached to that at some point? This show...

      Haven't seen today's ep yet but so will be interested to see the clothes. So far I think they have been very character specific (even if I don't like some of them eg Kat's cutsie style) Anita is very showy/glittery, Nicole classic elegance, Dani sexy/bold colors etc. Unlike Y&R which seems much more generic. Also BTG pays attention to the men's wardrobe and has developed a style for the boyz-which is harder to do with male fashion. The absence of any of Derek/Ashley at any of these big events again demonstrates how they are in a different universe to the rest of the show. Not that a nurse and a fireman would be there but still they seem destined at this point to stay in their own lane and have little interaction with the core of the show.

      Agnes had written for Bernard Grant for many years on TGL as well as Ernest Graves and Joe Gallison,Doris Belack,Robert Milli,and  Antony Ponzini at AW. So she would probably gravitate to writing a role with an actor in mind or choosing someone she had written for before who she knew could deliver.

      Once Johnny Dallas' cut himself off from Laurie Ann Karr and their son, and once Laurie successfully recovered from her mental problems, she wanted a new, fresh, and healthy start for the next chapter of her life. She legally reverted her name and changed John Victor's  surname to Karr. After moving to the country (when Teri  Keane was dropped from the show), Bill and Martha Marceau legally adopted Jennifer, the baby girl whom they had earlier taken in when the child's biological mother, Taffy Simms (and other bio family members) proved to be unfit to raise her. Jennifer legally and emotionally became a Marceau, and gave that name to her own daughter, whom Jennifer birthed through surrogacy as a single parent. Et...voila! The Karr and Marceau legacies live on.

      BLQ is having second thoughts regarding putting her baby up for adoption. Chase is upset he can't tell Dante. So both are putting this on at lulus feet. Saying she is holding it over them. Lulu is doing none of this.

      Yes she absolutely was involved in that story which seems to have gone nowhere.  She didn't start to remove herself from the writing until 1973.

      Y'all are bringing back great memories of AMC 2.0 for me.  I haven't thought about it and the new characters in so long, well since it aired, and I plan to go re-watch it now. When AMC ended, I finally came to peace with it and accepted that I will never watch an hour of a TV show daily in my life again... something that I had been doing since I was 6-7 years old. I was starting a new career, relationship, and chapter in life when AMC 2.0 came out.  I found a way to watch it, but things felt differently for me at the time and when it was so short-lived and gone, it became such a distant memory, sadly.
