If the goal here was to bring back the Brookses, why couldn't they have brought back a now-adult Brooks Prentiss instead?  I'm sure there's a way to do it that would interest newer and older Y&R fans alike!

Theo said his dad died of a heart attack when he was 15 years old. But if he were still alive today he would be around the right age to be Stuart/Dina's son. The actor cast to play him (John Briddell) is 53 years old. I could see the show making a small adjustment to his character's age and saying that Eric was in his mid 50's when he died. According to soaps.com Eric Vanderway is supposed to make an appearance on the show on November 8th. I think it will be in a flashback.

The Theo twist doesn't give me heartburn.  I'm OK with expanding the new generation through legacy families.

However, I'd rather we find out that Traci attempted in vitro and one of her eggs was fertilized or misplanted, which actually has happened, and she finds out she has a bio child out there.  Traci is such a beloved character who has remained untainted every generation of writers, that I believe the audience would welcome it. Compared to other soaps, Y&R doesn't make too many mistakes, but taking away Traci's only child was a big one - right up with John's death.

You wouldn't even have to go the long-lost child route for Traci.  She could meet an orphaned teenager -- perhaps, even one with weight issues similar to her own as a child and young adult -- whom she takes in and becomes a foster mother to.

With as many times as this show has revived Adam from the dead, they could at least do a solid for the Abbott clan.  It is actually not that hard to write a story, while slightly stretching the boundaries of logic, wouldn't be nearly as outrageous as other BFTD stories on soaps.

If these writers had any imagination they'd be able to write a story where Colleen has been incapacitated yet alive and Victor eventually discovers that he has someone else's heart (it was always stupid that someone of Colleen's small stature would've been a fit for Victor anyway).

I'm not going to go into details but I did a short script on this in a blog post years ago.  Seriously, folks, it's not that hard!

Y&R might even be able to get one of the actresses to make an appearance for a short-term story arc and if they could get Thad Luckinbill to return for all that mess with Nick in a mask and Nikki with a fireplace poker, over the past couple years, they could probably get him to return for this too. The Colleen character could occasionally show up (like Ashley or Lily) for appearances and Traci could still adopt too (maybe Colleen convinces her mother to adopt too after Traci realizes that she cannot make up for lost time with her adult daughter who, reunites with J.T. and once Colleen is well enough, the couple decides to move to NYC, or something, blahblahblah).

I still think that it's unfair that Colleen was killed off.  One child cannot make up for the loss of another, so why not let Traci get Colleen back and adopt?

Or maybe a baby switch is uncovered at GCH and the real Colleen is discovered. They could get a lot of story out of this new character as she rejects Traci/ feels disloyal to her own family/is from a poor background and eagerly embraces the Abbott lifestyle etc etc

No offense but Y&R should aim to do something different from what's become the usual story over the last twenty years, they owe the actors that much.  Baby switch storylines just elicit a groan from me these days because most are written so poorly, with the same retread of an earlier baby switch story.

Someone let me know if we get a "Jill rips into Cane" scene...I could really go for seeing Jess Walton toss her hair, scream, and slap someone in some classic Emmy bait.

The B&B spoilers don't sound bad at all. The show has finally turned a corner and is fun to watch.

Also, Traci shouldn't have to put away all those memories with Colleen the way they've made Sharon put away Cassie in order to make Mariah viable.  Victor's heart story was illogical anyway and it wouldn't be difficult to see the lack of logic and fix it.  It could be an interesting story to find out who the real donor is.

Here are some upcoming spoilers from SOD for Y&R:

Chelsea will cover her tracks, Jack will keep the peace and Adam plays with the truth, Phyllis will connect the dots and Chloe and Kevin will go undercover. Also, Billy and Nikki will play with fire, Amanda will run from her past and she will be forced to come clean. Victor will also surprise Adam, Ashley will come home with surprising news and Chelsea's past will catch up with her. Chelsea will also be threatened by the new character Simon Black.

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
    • The Bell soaps, B&B and Y&R: cannot watch. If I went by the last time I did I would have to give them both D- but I really don't think it counts when you're not a daily watcher.  DAYS: B+ (Now this is with the knowledge that for years I have given this show a D- because I've been a fan for too long to give it the F it deserved.) GH: A+ (With Korte driving this bus to me the show is so much better! IMO we just had the best NB in so many years I cannot count!) BTG: A solid (Things I love, a few I do not, nothing I hate, still find it in general remarkable.) As always, thanks for doing this thread. I count it. I always look for it & I always post.
    • Okay, I continue to maintain that what is so good about this particular reveal followed by umbrella storyline is that you can see & understand many different points of view where there is not one bad guy or one 100% right person.  About your stated opinion, that Lois & Gloria did the right thing, you know that this was technically an illegal adoption? For it to have been legal the father, if known, would have to have been informed & have signed off on terminating his own paternal rights. And, of course, it is clear how many people they lied to.  Personally I feel like Lois is going to take the biggest "public" blame with Lulu a close second in the blame category. I am looking forward to a tongue lashing I hope Brook Lynn gives to Gloria. I continue to be more than annoyed with Dante. First his attitude toward Gio with regards to Rocco & a drinking game & its results. Second his attitude toward Lulu. Meanwhile enjoying the show every day!
    • Lois and Gloria did the right thing I feel knowing it was Camila that raised Gio has BL feeling some jealousy No one is saying that Camila was a bad mother to Gio I believe it will be Gio saying that Camila was great to him, thanking Lois and Gloria to get BL to see truth
    • Its realistic for Dani and  true of how the character thinks and operates. We've known her long enough to by that this would be consistent with her past characterizatioin
    • Random takes: - What was even the point of that jeweler guy? Also—Dani was borderline harassing him. - I know I’m probably in the minority here, but I want Jacob and Kat to happen. I need something messy to completely dismantle the Duprees—and Katomas just isn’t cutting it.  - I officially can’t stand Jacob and his wife. Same goes for Anita and Vernon. - Hayley’s corset was just as ugly as it looked uncomfortable. - I genuinely don’t remember when or how Derek and Ashley reconciled—and I’m someone who didn’t even mind their storyline! LMAO. - Tuesday’s episode was a mess. - Dani finding out about Hayley’s pregnancy and immediately thinking, “She’s faking it”—huh?! What writer thought that was a realistic reaction? I get denial, but that leap was absurd. I agree the ‘Leslie Victorious’ moment was way OTT. But hey, at least I wasn’t yawning. The following episode, where she handed over her daughter’s last few belongings was much better. - I can’t with the constant back-and-forth between Orphey Gene’s and the Country Club. I forgot this was such a soap trope, but even back in my loyal viewer days (late ‘90s, early 2000s), it wasn’t this bad. While GH has a ton of beautiful sets, we’re stuck with the same three—and half of them are ugly. Also: it’s been way too long since we had a party, gala, or any kind of event. I know the Richardsons’ anniversary gala (back in late April) has had a big ripple effect, but I was kinda getting used to those large-scale episodes. Fingers crossed they don’t go with Guza.
    • The horrific comments execs and writers make when they justify rape storylines or keeping rapists as love interests is just so icky. I remember Ron Carlivati's comments about the reraping of Marty storyline on OLTL. Made my skin crawl.  No matter what you think of her, Susan Lucci could have demanded front burner storylines but she never did. She was happy to be part of an ensemble. I never got that vibe from Zimmer.  For me, Reva was just not a character I cared that much about after a certain point no matter how talented Zimmer is/was. I think Zimmer had a keener eye for what made a good storyline, but she was less willing to take a backseat if it meant someone else got to shine. I'm trying to recall if she ever mentions Michelle Forbes in her book--one of the few times the viewers did not care about Reva in a storyline. My sense is if she did, it was probably some backhanded remark about how she had to show Forbes the ropes.
