The loss of some of the iconic sets (the Chancellor Estate and Victor's office) is truly a travesty.  While I really like the new Newman Ranch sitting room, it is too small a set -- especially for the mighty Newman family.  Like other sets (Victoria's house, the GCAC, and Nick's home) it has no entrance or foyer.  From a production standpoint, Mal Young was a complete failure!  Shrunken sets, classic and spacious sets struck down, bright, bright, and more bright lights that make everything look washed out and cheap.  I was watching some of the classic episodes posted in the Old Y&R Articles thread and was taken aback by how lush and classy the show was pre-JFP and MY.  The old courtroom set and the GCAC suites were just grand and elegantly Gothic.  The Newman Enterprise Boardroom was so big and quite the dynamic set.  Still, nothing beats the old-school Chancellor Estate... The cream colored living room, that French toile mural in the foyer, and the mint green dining room.  Jill Foster Abbott should be living it up as the lady of the manor.  I'm just grateful that MY didn't strike down or shrink the Abbott mansion.  I hope the new regime reconstructs some of the older sets and adjusts the brassy lighting.  Just as the classic music cues add substance to the scenes, the sets are almost as important as the characters.

Completely agree about the importance of the sets. That cannot be understated.

I would love to see the original Newman ranch and Chancellor estate again. IMO, those were timeless sets and should have never been destroyed. I even prefer Neil/Dru's apartment to that boring space Devon is in.

The floor plans of some of these sets are OK - it's the set decoration that is abysmal.

Everything is so generic and cheaply decorated - they need to pick up a few decor magazines to get hints on how to get the look for less.

The lighting issue is interesting to me. When I watch the show live or dvr, the lighting is darker, though not as moody as pre-2012. But when I streamthe show with the CBS app, no what what device—ipad, roku, or apple tv—the lighting/ picture is pale and washed out.

I'm just happy Devon was able to get his own home. However, I would have preferred of Neil had been allowed to stay in his home set instead of that 3rd hand condo he was moved into.

I am so tired of Summer.  She never grows up and is a petulant brat.  This twist in the story today is so stupid...Kyle - I'll marry you to get at your liver.  LOLLLL.

I now have a different office situation and can’t watch during lunch, but I don’t feel like I’ve missed anything.

I think Kyle marrying Summer is great — a soapy old soap trope that never gets old. It’s ridiculous, but just have fun with it. It’s better than seeing him with sadsack Lola.

The whole point of the Kyle and summer marriage is to turn Kyle and Lola into star-crossed lovers and Lola into a classic heroine that we can root for at the expense of Summer.  I, personally, hope it backfires and the story boosts Summer's popularity instead.

I thought that Lauren Woodland did a nice job tonight when Brittany was grilling Rey about the night Sharon confessed to him. I enjoyed those scenes, she really did give it to Rey.  Rey is the only Rosales that I like and I do like him and Sharon together but he did kind of turn his back on Sharon after she confessed to him. He didn't seem like he cared that much about her after her confession, even though they had exchanged ILY's.

I understand he has a job to do but he didn't even really check up on her much or act like a man worried about woman he loves being locked up. Even if she is guilty of her role in the JT's disappearance. I thought that Brittany did a good job of painting a scenario where Rey could have been using Sharon.

Also, I think that both Kyle and Summer did a nice job of selling their engagement to Phyllis. Especially MM/Kyle. I thought he came across as believable when he was saying he realized that Summer was the one for him.

They're desperate to try to make Summer into Phyllis and I don't think Hunter King has the kind of range for that type of role.

How many times have they tired to make Summer relevant? Does the feedback mean anything to these people? Do they not see her tanking in pairings? Does she move the ratings needle? Gawd...I hate Summer and have never ever cared for her.

Neither female is rootable. I don't think Summer has ever been popular with the audience.

I think Hunter King has been doing a much better job as Summer since she returned. The writing is different for her, and she’s made it work.

Jordi is doing a really good job of being mysterious as to whether he loves Sharon or not — and ditto for Mia. It’s much better than an actor who’d give it away.

i’m per Tired of the “Get rid of the Rosales family” crew.

I don't think she has either. Not since she was soras'd and bullied Jamie.

However, I'm hoping viewers don't fall for this attempt to make Lola (and Kyle). I hate when writers hurt one character to prop up another. It's always so heavy handed.
