Watching yesterday's episode and while the Hilary and Jack scene was way too brief, I still loved it and it was the first time the story has made me tear up. Hillary and Jack truly was my favorite friendship on the show and he really never judged her and vice versa. I really hope we get one more scene with them, I really do.

The Lily scenes rang hollow to me. You hated this woman and you only feel bad now because you killed her.

Bryton has also been doing good work.

I guess they wanted to tie up everything with a neat, little bow where Lily and Hillary were concerned.  But, man, I still think it would've been so much juicier had Hillary used her last, grasping breaths to blame the [!@#$%^&*] out of Lily.

Hillary should've lived. She finds out that Devon still sides with Lily and dumps his sorry ass. Later, Hillary dressed a la Deborah Shelton visits Lily and tells her to watch her back because one day she will pay for all that she has done to her and says "You'll hear from me again" and drives off in her car. Only to return a year later for her revenge.

I usually don’t like fanfic but my god this would’ve been a ten times better way for Hillary’s time to end. It truly has to be spite against Mishael for knowing her worth, to kill off Hillary in such a permanent way.

Even though Sony is likely prohibited from doing it for a while, I wish they'd axed KSJ instead of MiM. Neil's story has been played out, while MiM is a freaking star (OK I'm very biased.)  My second choice would be PB - heck his salary saving could probably pay for MiM & ED! Honestly, Ashley should be the head of the Abbott family instead of Aunt Jack.

I do think it's interesting that Sony dumped 3 very high profile women on contract this year, but no men (RA never rose to more than supporting/recurring). And all we got in return was HHK, which was probably mandated by CBS since LIP isn't coming back until mid-season.

And the parade to Hilary’s bedside continued today.

Honestly, as I said yesterday, I hate this string of goodbyes. Total cliche-driven mess. Although Mishael has been great, I’m so pissed about her leaving that I can’t cry or feel for Hilary. I’m too angry about MiM.

i still can’t get over that Hilary is near death while EVERYONE else in that car crash is in great shape, with nary a frickin SCRATCH.

Tessa and Mariah are an insufferable BORE. I don’t give a rat’s ass about their relationship or their trumped-up problems. There’s no story there.

Nick starts Dark Horse, and 3 days later he’s hired top advisors and analysts and management? Guess he did all that between breaks at Crimson Lights.

TBH, I haven't been watching the show but I'm currently reading an article that discusses a trial for an Alzheimer's drug that is said to be showing great potential for slowing down the progression of the disease and looks to be reducing the plaques (associated with dementia) on the brain.

In case any Y&R execs are reading this: are you going to have Ashley, Jack and Traci decide to sign Dina up for a trial of this drug?

C'mon Mal, here's a way keep Dina on with less misery and to stop bleeding talented actresses from your show.

You're welcome.

EDT: The patients in the trial are in the beginning stages of the disease or have mild symptoms but that's where the imagination comes in.  Perhaps the wrong medication protocol was what was causing Dina's symptoms to appear worse?  Whatever, Y&R needs to fix it because they're losing two talented actresses and others like Jess Walton and Beth Maitland are barely on.  What high-caliber actresses does this show actually have left? Grimes, who has been stuck in a subpar coupling and storyline? Who else?  Okay, there's Case and then Tognoni but what are their storylines?

The wedding was beautiful and lead up to it was well done.  I can see why Lily is upset but it's starting to be too much.  As long as they are resetting Devon's role in the Winters family by killing off Hils, let's do the same for Lily.  Have Cane succumb to a fall down the hospital's elevator shaft.  Or eat some contaminated food from the cafeteria.  Anything.  SOMETHING to get him off my screen.

Yes, the visits to Hilary have been schmaltzy and (at times) cliched, but they've been effective.  And I think @ajsp35801 mentioned, the music has been pretty much on point.  I'm still upset about they way Sony handled Mishael, but I'm going to watch her as long as I can.

Tomorrow I'm going to be a mess.

Whatever happened to just having a character realize that a town no longer serves a purpose for them and they leave.  They could of had Hilary decide to leave Genoa City to regroup, vowing to return once she has a new game plan in mind, and as she's waiting for her plane to take off.. there is a montage of Hilary/Devon's best scenes.. as well as Hilary's best scenes as a character.. than the plane takes off with Hilary determined to look ahead, but planning to return when the time is right.

Of course, that requires imagination and creativity... which Mal Young lacks in spades.

    • So, I have been in the hospital all week. I am close to being up to date on my soaps. Now I have to go to the Infusion Ctr daily to get IV antibiotics, for 6 weeks. I am frankly exhausted. A hospital is no place to be when you're sick. Hooked up to machines that go beep beep beep all day & night long. Someone wakes you up every hour on the hour for something, either to stick you with needles or to take your gosh-awful blood pressure for the umpteenth time. So, you don't get any sleep. Now I have a central line, upper right chest. After they "installed" it, I said, I am now Borg. They just stared at me. Apparently scifi is not general knowledge. What happened? I have an infection inside my big toe right foot & it burned the skin on my foot. The burned skin is already better. It was like a bad sunburn. The infection inside the toe is the issue. Oral antibiotics won't even get its attention. So, IV antibiotics plus time.

As Salem bids farewell to John Black on Monday, the "Days" family and fans say a final goodbye to Drake Hogestyn.   From his time as a young man playing baseball in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees to his almost four-decade run as John Black, Drake always did his best. And, while becoming a soap opera icon, he spent almost 40 years at "Days" telling the best stories and taking the younger cast under his wing to make sure they would do their best as well. Thank you, Drake, for the legacy you have left for everyone at "Days." The impact you made on the cast, crew and fans will never be forgotten...and that's a fact.
    • I found an interview with Joseph Breen (Will Jeffries) where he mentions that Reva was put in a coma so Zimmer could go to Hollywood to do a pilot (OMG, if ONLY it had been picked up, LOL) and that Sonni and Josh and Will became a popular with the audience while she was out of commission.  If you want to read the whole thing: https://www.authorsden.com/visit/viewarticle.asp?id=47394 Breen was known for being very candid in interviews, I wish I could find more of them. I seem to recall he made a couple of snarky comments about Zimmer, implying she was not above acting like a diva. Sounded to me like he had a lot of respect for Forbes (who went on to have a very strong and varied career after GL).
    • I was so confused why Devon was prying into Nicks love life and then it clicked and I remembered they’re brother-in-laws. Shows how little I pay attention to this show anymore. I was like uh? Do these two even know each other this well?
    • The Bell soaps, B&B and Y&R: cannot watch. If I went by the last time I did I would have to give them both D- but I really don't think it counts when you're not a daily watcher.  DAYS: B+ (Now this is with the knowledge that for years I have given this show a D- because I've been a fan for too long to give it the F it deserved.) GH: A+ (With Korte driving this bus to me the show is so much better! IMO we just had the best NB in so many years I cannot count!) BTG: A solid (Things I love, a few I do not, nothing I hate, still find it in general remarkable.) As always, thanks for doing this thread. I count it. I always look for it & I always post.
    • Okay, I continue to maintain that what is so good about this particular reveal followed by umbrella storyline is that you can see & understand many different points of view where there is not one bad guy or one 100% right person.  About your stated opinion, that Lois & Gloria did the right thing, you know that this was technically an illegal adoption? For it to have been legal the father, if known, would have to have been informed & have signed off on terminating his own paternal rights. And, of course, it is clear how many people they lied to.  Personally I feel like Lois is going to take the biggest "public" blame with Lulu a close second in the blame category. I am looking forward to a tongue lashing I hope Brook Lynn gives to Gloria. I continue to be more than annoyed with Dante. First his attitude toward Gio with regards to Rocco & a drinking game & its results. Second his attitude toward Lulu. Meanwhile enjoying the show every day!
    • Lois and Gloria did the right thing I feel knowing it was Camila that raised Gio has BL feeling some jealousy No one is saying that Camila was a bad mother to Gio I believe it will be Gio saying that Camila was great to him, thanking Lois and Gloria to get BL to see truth
    • Its realistic for Dani and  true of how the character thinks and operates. We've known her long enough to by that this would be consistent with her past characterizatioin
    • Random takes: - What was even the point of that jeweler guy? Also—Dani was borderline harassing him. - I know I’m probably in the minority here, but I want Jacob and Kat to happen. I need something messy to completely dismantle the Duprees—and Katomas just isn’t cutting it.  - I officially can’t stand Jacob and his wife. Same goes for Anita and Vernon. - Hayley’s corset was just as ugly as it looked uncomfortable. - I genuinely don’t remember when or how Derek and Ashley reconciled—and I’m someone who didn’t even mind their storyline! LMAO. - Tuesday’s episode was a mess. - Dani finding out about Hayley’s pregnancy and immediately thinking, “She’s faking it”—huh?! What writer thought that was a realistic reaction? I get denial, but that leap was absurd. I agree the ‘Leslie Victorious’ moment was way OTT. But hey, at least I wasn’t yawning. The following episode, where she handed over her daughter’s last few belongings was much better. - I can’t with the constant back-and-forth between Orphey Gene’s and the Country Club. I forgot this was such a soap trope, but even back in my loyal viewer days (late ‘90s, early 2000s), it wasn’t this bad. While GH has a ton of beautiful sets, we’re stuck with the same three—and half of them are ugly. Also: it’s been way too long since we had a party, gala, or any kind of event. I know the Richardsons’ anniversary gala (back in late April) has had a big ripple effect, but I was kinda getting used to those large-scale episodes. Fingers crossed they don’t go with Guza.
    • The horrific comments execs and writers make when they justify rape storylines or keeping rapists as love interests is just so icky. I remember Ron Carlivati's comments about the reraping of Marty storyline on OLTL. Made my skin crawl.  No matter what you think of her, Susan Lucci could have demanded front burner storylines but she never did. She was happy to be part of an ensemble. I never got that vibe from Zimmer.  For me, Reva was just not a character I cared that much about after a certain point no matter how talented Zimmer is/was. I think Zimmer had a keener eye for what made a good storyline, but she was less willing to take a backseat if it meant someone else got to shine. I'm trying to recall if she ever mentions Michelle Forbes in her book--one of the few times the viewers did not care about Reva in a storyline. My sense is if she did, it was probably some backhanded remark about how she had to show Forbes the ropes.
