Jack and Paul are unlikeable.  Ashley isn't to me right now.  But Paul has been God awful for a few years now, no matter who has written.  He's been written as a crotchety old Man.  He can go as far as I'm concerned.  Veteran or not.  Don't care.  As for Peter Bergman/Jack - just never cared for him in the role, but I'm from the origin of this show.  So my opinions don't matter, and I know Terry Lester is gone and dead - but - Peter Bergman is no Jack Abbott.  I remember him holding that Emmy trophy and saying that he made this role his own.  No you didn't.  You just did not.  That is all.

Ashley actually pissed me off today. And honestly Mal’s writing in general is. Genoa City is now a town full of a bunch of as sholes and Bitches who all hate each other. There’s literally like two people in town that are nice to each other at this point.

Of course not, not with Sheila now being an aspiring and up and coming restaurateur who is currently as of this month LA's new busybody, going around gossiping as if she was Mary Williams, Lisa, or Aunt Liz. They may not like Sheila, but they still visit her restaurant

The next Y&R/B&B crossover will probably be Lauren, Phyllis, and Hilary giving Sheila positive tips on how to get Eric away from Quinn.

So, um yeah, I liked the Ashley/Jack scenes. I found both had valid points, and it was nice to see Eileen Davidson get some good material for once. The scenes played on history, and both actors carried their weight. Also, nice to tie Hillary into that one by having Jabot sponsor her show.

The Hillary/Cane scenes were good in the hospital. MM can make anyone tolerable. Her charisma is off the charts!

I also liked the Paul/Christine scenes.

This almost feels like Y&R circa early 200's (minus the speediness), with high stakes drama, and I for one welcome it. I'm actually interested to see what Mal has for Jill.

And PLEASE keep SHEILA AWAY FOREVER!!!!

Again, everyone on here is so negative - and yet you all will say I'm trying to stifle your opinions, but I'm really not, it's just so weird coming into a monthly thread hearing people talk crap about a show they barely, hardly, or no longer watch. And it's mind boggling because some of you wanted Sussman gone too. I truly think that some of you won't be happy until the show is cancelled, and then you'll rejoice and say I told you so.

Also, Terry Lester has been gone for decades, and I have no idea how he would have handled Jack's development over the years. For the most, Peter Bergman has done a good job, and he's got the short end of stick many times losing to Victor. For the record, I don't mind if people have a problem with PB Jack and prefer TL, as I know some also prefer Brenda's Jill over Jess.

Despite what some were saying, you missed out on some great scenes, and Traci also had a good point for all the animosity.

MY is writing all of the characters to be completely unlikable.  The Abbotts we know would have been supporting each other, not fighting like cats and dogs.  And Jack would NEVER have said that to Ashley.

Sally may not have been the greatest, but you could recognize the characters.

Given everything that has happened, I don't see the snarkiness of the characters as being contrived, except for Paul and Christine thinking Victor could have been involved in the sex ring, even as much as I loathe him and all that he does.

I think Victoria has gradually changed since her fall and at times she is more emotional than logical. And I don't understand Jack involving Jabot with the Hilary Hour. Unless he thinks he is eventually going to mold her and her show into something that can last long term. Seems very risky at this point. But to put the kibosh on Ashley's deal didn't make sense to me. Ashley brought up a lot of good points in the meeting which obviously stung, for him to say what he did to her about John. I am sad that she's made Ravi feel unimportant (uncomfortable to watch given current events about workplace behavior) but perhaps Phyllis' advice will make her open her eyes if there is really something there.

My wish for Y&R right now is for continuity and, as always -  to knock Victor off his pedestal.

I wonder if they went through with it, given pics she posted of them on Twitter.

Okay, I'll try (desperately) not to become too long-winded in this. (I can't promise though

).

In dramatic writing you essentially have 5 components in how you lay out dramatic structure (i.e. storytelling).

1.Exposition 2. Rising complications/action 3. Climax 4.Reversal and

5. Dénouement/Resolution

With MY's brand of storytelling many aspects of telling a story are missing. It's like he goes straight from exposition to resolution-- sometimes there may be a rising complication but the reversal, the dénouement, all go begging.

(I can give you an example when I have more time to go into detail, if you wish).

Many people have made excuses that he was finishing up Sally's old stories, so he had to rush but even if you're finishing up someone's old stories, why wouldn't you take the time to properly lay out the next group of stories? I still have yet to see that.

Don't get me wrong, SS could be basic at times in her storytelling too.  And just because a writer is basic in execution doesn't mean that he/she cannot have really effective scenes, both have had really well done scenes regularly but MY's overall, comprehensive story execution (taking a story from beginning to end) has actually been worse than SS'.

Ashley IN JACK'S OFFICE trying to stage a coup?  Honestly!  Just beyond the absolute ridiculous!

Watched the other day and Hillary does the total opposite of what she did the eppy before. Her on air antics and consistently catching her co host off guard its not cute or must see.  I saw pics on Twitter when she was having a tender moment with Devon over the nudies (I think).  It's like 2 different writers are penning this character and neither communicates/or even knows the other!  Just awful!  They have no idea what they want to do with this character from one day to the next.  REEEEEEEEdiculous!

Tessa, the abomination, continues.

Still got Sharon with that homeless person who's making a fool of her!  I don't like Sharon, don't like Scott, mildly ok with Abby but there is nothing to see in this insipid triangle!  NOTHING!

That's all I got.  Terrible show!
