Daniel Goddard was fine. Honestly, I don't know what some of you expected Cane to do at that point. Christel Khalil was excellent. She gets a lot of grief on this board, but she's been playing the hell out of Lily.

 

For me, too, the sex trafficking story is like a PSA. They can't and won't make it as realistic as it should be, so why do it? We'll get a stupid vanilla take on a topic that has no vanilla. We already got the stupid today when Paul ordered all the on-duty police to look for Crystal. Ugh.

Agreed on the trafficking story. This is a very delicate matter, and I'm not sure Y&R should touch it. I would've preferred if Crystal never bumped into Nick/Sharon and the gang.

Exactly. She's writing Victoria as if a solid capable actress is still playing her. Heinle's stepped it up a bit here and there but she's called Boretoria for a reason.

Why would he run away from home? He has a great life and he is good with his mother?  

 

They do need to recast Victoria but other than that he is very happy being with her and also his personal life is doing good. He loves Mattie to pieces and they look great together.

Cane vs. Victoria is one of the most organic rivalries to come out of this show in awhile. It's a shame that both actors may not be compelling enough, but I believe if they keep getting good writing/directing, they will be challenged to do better. It's quite ironic when the "stronger" actors are getting more fluff these days, but I'll excuse AH and DG here because they've had subpar writing for years.

 

Edit: Has anyone checked out Victoria Rowell new show? It premiered July 28th - thread here but no updates. 

 

 

This show always ruins a good thing with a hook up. 

I feel as if Y&R has truly lacked a strong director for years now.

I agree. But there's only so much a director can do if someone can't properly convey an emotional breakdown. He's a director, not a magician. 

 

Also on yesterday's show, Lauren and Phyllis were talking about the idea that was brought up 3 months ago about Chelsea 2.0 and Fenmore's. What? I forgot that was even a thing.

 

Victoria crying over Abby's shoulder?  I feel so traumatized right now...

The Trafficking story is wayyyy too after school special for me. When they started going through all the stats and such I just shut my brain off.

Totally inorganic.  I watched yesterday and it just rang as a PSA.  Ridiculous.  Just tell the damn story!
