Oh my lord.

Another new clip from the premiere:

Another with Darlene and Becky:

I do quite like the first clip - it's the old magic. The second's end with Becky remembering "I don't live here anymore" cracked me up.

Looking around The Internet, Mark's teacher is indeed named Miss Crane. Judy Prescott is playing her. I've no idea if that is the original woman or not. But the similarity is great if it isn't and I love the teacher is again Miss Crane. She'd have been teaching for over 30 years at this point, lol. So we'll see how they handle it.

Also, thanks for the newsclip from '88. Love seeing lil bits of TV history like that. Wow, amazing numbers right from the very first episode!  Thankfully, their success didn't go the same way as Joanie Loves Chachi!

I remember this:

I cannot remember what happened to Bonnie on the show - I know they all got fired from the mall, but I thought she and Roseanne had a falling-out (onscreen) and I don't know if they patched it up.

Allegedly it was unscripted - they had supposedly planned to use another song then found out they couldn't, so did this one at the last moment. The cast's reactions are apparently genuine.

Yeah, Bonnie (and Crystal to a lesser degree) was phased out after season 4. Roseanne and Bonnie had a rift when Rodbell's was closing down and Roseanne asked Leon for a recommendation to be in management at the mall (Bonnie thought she was more qualified). They made up though when Crystal gave birth at the end of season 4, and I don't think Bonnie was mentioned again after that.

Leon was also phased out after season 4, but they brought him back in season 6. I guess because they wanted Roseanne to have a familiar adversary. I still think it's kind of strange Leon isn't in this revival. However, if they do get another season, I do think they'll try to get Martin Mull to make a few appearances.

I wouldn't be surprised if Leon shows up, though they have yet to announce him. But as much as I loved Martin Mull I thought Leon became just such a cartoon by the end that I'm much more happy Crystal, Chuck and Anne-Marie are back - to me those are the characters from the greatest years that deserved a bit more attention. Natalie West's comic timing and deadpan was especially underrated.

I think that's what Whitney Cummings said in the 20/20 special, but I don't know if they actually have someone cast in the role of DJ's wife.

Also, not to sound insensitive, but the little girl playing his daughter doesn't look biracial, so I'm wondering if she's his biological daughter (not that it matters, family is family).

I remember reading somewhere that the wife is serving in Afghanistan, but I dunno if that's correct.

I hope Becky's life improves a bit since we know she is still working in the service industry - I get that it's realistic, but I always held out hope that at least one of the kids would get out from under as planned, and Becky had the rockiest road of it due to her rash choices. I just rewatched the Season 5 two-parter where she leaves and Roseanne tries to hope for the best, that Becky will finish HS (which I think she does) and then go to a local college. I can't remember if she ever did when they moved back; I don't think so. And that rang true then, but I always hoped she'd eventually get back on track. We know Darlene and her children move back home in the new series due to hard times (I think Darlene lost her job), but I hope it hasn't been nothing but misery for her either, as she was the big hope later on.

    • But she's a DUPREE and that makes her immune to any and everything!
    • About the only thing that could really get me interested in this show right now would be a "Who Killed Victor?" storyline IF he stayed dead. The writing for him is atrocious! And the lineup of possible suspects would be most of the canvas. Months worth of great story if done well.....of course...not getting done with Griffith.
    • I really hope you’re wrong. Dani Desperate Dupree being right will make her even more insufferable than she’s already been.
    • I know this board has very strong opinions about Scheffer's reign which run the gamut from brilliant to the nadir of the series.  I'm one of the fans. 2001 - 2005 are, imo, the second best years for the series. The first being Marland.  As The World Turns won Daytime Emmy Awards for Best Drama Series in '87 and '91. However, it wasn't until Scheffer came along that it won again...in '01 and '03. Plus it won for Best Writing Team in '01, '02, '04, and '05, an award it had never managed to win before and didn't again. When Scheffer left and Passanante was the main head writer (along with various other co-head writers) the show began to seriously tank. However, it wasn't just the writing. The budget was gone. The sets were made to be smaller or destroyed. There was all that weird hand held camera directing for a while. Scenes that were obviously shot in the hallway where the series was filmed. I think '06 - '10 is a roller coaster. There are some storylines I really enjoyed and some that were eye-rolling. Looking in the rearview mirror though, I can see that the actors, writers, directors, and crew were working their best with what money they had.
    • They are idiots! It seems crazy that Leslie is inserting herself so much into this investigation but everybody is falling into her traps. I find it to be an interesting back and forth and I'm still not completely sure who will win. I have a theory but I'm going to wait for more to develop before I say more. I feel like Haley has been more on the sidelines so I'm enjoying this new desperate streak she appears to be developing. I'm curious how it'll manifest overtime. I also agree with Dani that I am not convinced she's pregnant. I think she's trying to get pregnant but really just see's herself fading into the background and wants attention and validation from Dani and her family.
    • Thanks for sharing; the set, wow. Ten times better than the "penthouse" she lives in now (is that a surprise, though?).
    • I'd be happy to!

I just read the intro and first chapter and I'm already hooked. I know she had a co-author, but I can tell Kim is a firecracker and I'd love to have wine with her and talk sh!t haha. It makes reading the book pretty easy and entertaining. Intro - I had no idea she got a DUI! She shared 3 bottles of wine with a friend at dinner one night in LA, got in her car, was pulled over and thrown in jail overnight.  She admitted it wasn't her first time drinking and driving, but learned a valuable lesson that night. Out of the gate, she's not holding back or hiding anything. Chapter 1 - the announcement that GL was being cancelled. She was driving to Peapack and got a call from Bradley Cole who told her the news. First, that's BS that as one of the faces of GL, you hear the big news from a fellow co-star on your way to work. Granted, the "suits" were traveling to Peapack that day to tell the cast and crew, but still, seems icky. Ironically the news came on April Fools Day. Apparently that was the last day the network could decide whether to cancel or renew, but to Kim's point, couldn't they just pick the day before to avoid the callousness of the 'holiday'. Obviously a sad day in GL history. I thought it was funny, she said the one thing she thought of is "what would Susan Lucci do" in this situation, post-cancellation. And of course she said she'd "find something to hawk on the Home Shopping Network"  You all would know better than me, but part of the title of her book is "seven husbands" and in her intro, she uses Reva's full name: Reva Shayne-Lewis-Lewis-Spaulding-Lewis-Winslow-Cooper-Lewis-Lewis-O'Neill.  However, in the first chapter, she said Bradley Cole was "her 8th (or was it 9th?) husband". Well, Kim, that already contradicts the title of your book and your character's name you touted.
