I'll concur on that. I know that they quickly abandoned Philly, but that was the former regime. I believe they should bring it back. It's interesting in a gender twist that Billy has suffered the consequences rather than Phyllis - in terms of public perception in GC. It's usually the WOMAN who must suffer to an extreme.

And, yeah, Hilary's duplicitous ways revolve around BUSINESS. If she was a male aka Victor or Jack, she'd be branded as 'aggressive,' 'shrewd," and 'strong.' However, that's ALWAYS the double-standard applied to strong business women. Imagine if Ashley initiated the eviction or did deals like Victor.

With Hilary though, it's a cumulative effect because of what happened with Neil/Devon, what she did to Ashley, how she came to town, etc. The character has never been given a 'moral' center that is good. I'm glad they did have Hilary mention her mother at the benefit and more scenes with Jack, where Hilary naturally reveals her vulnerability. What happened today IS a good step to making her a more well-rounded character - at least that my hope. MM has far too much presence to be wasted. She completely commanded those auction scenes and it felt authentic.

Well past regimes have ruined so many of them (especially the female characters) that it's almost impossible to bring many of them back.

Y&R could always recast Mackenzie, Heather and/or Avery (or bring Skye back from the dead) to fill out the female half of the 30+ group but since the writers have no idea what to do with Chloe & Chelsea it's best for them to stay gone.

Do you remember the viewer reaction to Ashley firing Phyllis after learning she cheated on Jack? Which was around the same time Ashley supported Jack evicting Gloria from the Abbott house.

The outcry was crazy. ED was lucky she was able to crossover to B&B.

@DeeeDee I'm with you. Not feeling JT as Billy at all.

I totally see what you guys are saying about Hill always on the receiving end of someone's ire but I don't wish to see another black character as a relationship counselor to white characters. I'm happy she's a vixen. We do have "black for pay" Khalil and yr could use Leslie more.

Don't want Hill as a goody 2 shoes so I'm happy with her. BTW, MiM was really bad with he elevator scene. She's got a lot to learn. But I'm looking forward to Hevon's separation and watching them come back together without having that soul draining jackass, Neil, in between them!

I really enjoyed today's show. It was light where it should have been and heavy where it should have been.

Ravi is now coming across a little better. He doesn't seem like a stalker. Having him interact with others was a good way to round him out. He speaks a different language...math. his sign was Pi. I loved it.

I felt bad for Chelsea missing Adam and I never cared for her or adam or them together. I'm assuming Sally will keep her and nick as friends then turn this toward Phick 2.0. Wish I cared.

It was obvious that there are only a few legit couples with the small amount of NY kisses.

Mariah does something bad and she's the conquering hero. Every failure she has becomes something good. She's never wrong. Ever. Always painted in the best light. The show continues the propping of her.

Chloe's comment about not apologizing about meting out justice. I hollered.

Hilary is "evil" for possibly causing a trip and fall. Out of all the stuff that Hilary has done, this seems like small potatoes. This is what Devon leaves hilary for? It doesnt add up.

With that said, I'm loving the writing for Devon and Hilary. My shipper heart soars as it breaks. I thought their scenes were very well done. Devon's car scenes could have easily fallen into the cringy cheesy category. But BJ pulled that off very well.  Hilary's wall slide was perfectly executed by MiM. It hurts so good. Now, I hope Sally doesn't derail me into BS. I can't take anymore. Not with these two.

I wonder about his desperation though. When it comes from actors, I always think they suspect it'll have repercussions on their story long term. I couldn't imagine JM worrying about that though. When has he not been in top 5 in epi counts? Is it ego cause he asked for it? What is he scared of?

I don't like Hillary treated as evil incarnate but Mariah has a better relationship with most of those people. Their reactions make sense to me even if I don't like it. Are they suppose to praise Hillary for tripping Mariah? (But Mariah should have been just as berated for what she did, too, it should work both ways if they do it at all). But Devon wanting to dump her over it? Was it just to get their crash? I mean, of all things, that's what had him fed up? I guess it was meant to be presented as all of these things adding up to him just finally having enough but still ...

And I know Lily still hates Hillary but her standing there glaring at them sipping champagne. Are they trying to make Lily as unlikeable as possible? They need to work on her.

I liked Jack going to Hillary and being there for her. But then Victor has to come over and run his big mouth.

Meh to Chelsea and Nick. I didn't mind their scenes TBH but I don't care about them at all.

Same.

I think he's a better actor than given credit for.

I thought yesterday's show was rather weak. Where was Lauren and the rest of GC? Why were Kevin and Chloe there?? I thought ATWT did this story better with Lisa and John when he embarrased her in front of ALL of Oakdale. Yes, the show is a tad better but has a long way to go.

If anything they've de-aged Victoria and Nick to fit with Billy. I remember when Billy was a year or two older than me. Now he's 10. Nick and Sharon next to this Noah looks ridiculous, they look youthful and he looks his age. I have no idea why they aged up him or Abby or most of their young people because they've done nothing to define who the characters are so why should I care that they're suddenly 25 and f*cking everything that walks?

On soaps once you hit a certain age you remain vaguely 30-nth.

I've always liked him as an actor but he's too serious for Billy.

I hated the writing for Billy Miller's Billy & a lot of Billy Miller's acting tics but he got a lot of Billy's spirit right.

That's why I'm not really feeling Jack's ongoing problem over Billy/Phyllis because JT doesn't really have a connection to PB/Jack & because his Billy is too serious for me to believe he'd cheat with his brother's wife (let alone Phyllis).

    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
    • It’s not about a lack of faith and trust in MVJ, it’s about a a lack of faith and trust in Ron Carlivati, who I think can be very sneaky and manipulative when he wants to be.  And, all that “He’s just a breakdown writer” talk never changed my mind about anything, because at Days, it was “just a breakdown writer” that gave us some of the worst episodes I’ve ever seen.

    • I think they’re desperately trying to cover his awful tattoos. But anyway them being unable to style short kings properly has been a major pet peeve of mine for a while now.  I honestly don’t understand what some people expect from actors to even begin considering them for recognition. Let’s be real—awards mostly mean that an actor is respected by their peers and has some level of cultural relevance. Actual judgment on the acting itself? That’s often secondary—highly subjective and shaped by the times. I completely agree on both points. If you’re an actor or a dancer you shouldn’t get any tattoos (sorry not sorry). Tomas’ tattoos are ugly too. And regarding the couples- you’re completely right. These writers are unable to write romance.   Further comments: - Kat cannot be this dumb to keep tampering with evidence over and over again. And I’m officially not a fan of the actress—every time she’s in a scene with Leslie, she doesn’t seem intimidated at all. She plays it like comic relief, which is just too much, especially when paired with Leslie’s histrionics and over-the-top antics. Leslie is older, dangerous, and has literally been portrayed as homicidal—Kat should be at least a little scared. • I also didn’t like Kat playing damsel in distress with the hotel manager. It gave off the same weird energy as Dani with the cop. I would’ve much preferred the version Paul Raven suggested, with her sneaking in through housekeeping. • And yes, Dani again accused Hayley of faking the pregnancy—this time even specifying she might be using a pillow under her shirt. (No fake miscarriage being mentioned) I stand by my take: this is ridiculous writing. No one in the real world—except us, the chronically online soap watchers—would even think of such a conspiracy theory. Haley is no Beyoncé. • What in the world was Chelsea wearing in her hair the other day? And this whole thing with Madison is beyond cringe. Chelsea’s coming off as needy and toxic—basically like every other Dupree. • I’m glad the casino storyline is moving forward, but it’s still boring as hell. Honestly, I’d be so here for a plot twist where Vanessa and Doug take Joey out. • The direction and editing lately have been rough. Abrupt cuts, weird pacing… something just feels off overall. There’s a strange uneasiness to how it’s all coming together. • And finally: Tomas is too much of a saint. Where are the messy sluts when you need them? (Vanessa doesn’t count.)
    • I was watching some August 1987 episodes and they brought back so many memories. I had some thoughts: Lisa and Jamie were so dull. Lisa was such a nothing character. It boggles my mind that so much story was centered around her in such a short amount of time. Joanna Going is a talented actress, but the material was just not there.  It was so good to see Wallingford and Mitch again. I know there was talk about Felicia a while back, but these episodes reminded me how integral Felicia was for the show.  Sally Spencer was done so dirty. She is turning in superb performances in an icky storyline. I wish she had stuck around longer. She has chemistry with everyone. The McKinnons should have lasted longer. Spencer had some strong stuff with Stephen Schnetzer and Mary Alexander. AW waster such a talented actress by getting rid of her. Justice for Cheryl too. I also missed Ed Fry when he left. Sandra Ferguson was a star from the moment she came on. She was charismatic and just popped. She had immediate chemistry with RKK and blended in well with Wyndham and Watson. I'd forgotten about the teenage Matthew.  I have no memory of Peggy Lazarus. She must not have lasted long. Was the original plan for John that he was going to turn out to be the twins' real father?
