The thing is, NO character is written well anymore. If you're not a veteran or favorite (we can't call Rafe a vet, so we'll call him the latter... producer's favorite?), you could go at any point. JPL didn't have a chance, but did anyone in his storyline? Shawn and Belle will be gone, and they were both played by returnees (Shawn even had BOTH actors reprise the role!). Of the Last Blast crew, the only one with staying power is Chloe, because she isn't written as Chloe anymore. She hasn't been Chloe since 2005. 

 

But let's also talk about these casting notices. "He's outta here! Yay... Oh, but wait. He's still here until January 2017."  At this point, whenever they cast a new "2 year" contract role, they might as well post their exit date as well. This is ridiculous.
