You're right. She looks like a corpse. I'm not sure if it's just photoshop, I think it's also a ton of make up but people are thrilled for her living her truth so they're overlooking all of that. It's interesting to me to see people compare her to Jessica Lange when Lange has allowed herself to age (fairly) naturally.

Frankly, all I see when I look at that picture is another Kardashian.

I thought Lange got some work done - her face hasn't seemed right to me in recent years. Either way, I do agree that there's a double standard. And if a non-white trans woman were on the cover I doubt they'd get the same reaction either, with the possible exception of LaverneCox.

Not so much obsessed but just [!@#$%^&*] tired of these people. I'm not going to suddenly like this unlikable (to me) person just because she's transitioned. My dislike of famewhores overwhelms my appreciation of her struggle.

She was mostly definitely a famous Olympian. However, when that fame started to wane, she hitched her wagon onto the Kardashian train wreck and has been a very willing participant the entire time. Famewhore.

I think you are correct about that, at 65 years old, most women would never be given a front cover like this and I think the whole beauty thing is more about the living of the truth more than actual beauty. It's great that she is living her truth, but I'm not really see the stunning beauty that others are seeing.

Honestly, I think that was partially the point. Even though Caitlyn was not spelled with a "K", she still chose a name that is basically the same phonetically. There is definitely an attention angle here.

I love that she is finally happy and living her truth, but then I think about the car accident she was involved in and the woman who was killed in it and all the attention makes me...uncomfortable.

I mean, yeah, she would have never tried to deliberately kill someone or anything, and I haven't kept up with the entire case, but that's the one part of her getting all this media attention that REALLY gives me pause. And frankly, it's a big one, too.

I suspect we would have had a few withdrawals next year if Israel had won. I don't think many people would relish going to Jerusalem as things stand now. Not to mention it would have been a prime target for terrorist attacks.
    • And they've given us plenty. Sets, outdoor scenes, music licensing, etc. And that was the point of me using DAYS... so. It's obvious the casino set is not intended for long-term use, hence why it's likely it wasn't as evolved as the other community sets, etc.

    • I just had thought of how to save the Perkins family. (Inspired by Rituals) -- What if Marisa Perkins was Augusta Lockridge's sister? Fictionally, they could've both been local girls, one married rich and one married poor. Originally, I was going to suggest that Marisa be Sophia's sister, but then I realized Joe and Kelly would've been first cousins.  Of course, it would've truly inspired Sophia was if Rosa Andrade sister, with Rosa and Santana moving in to help CC raise the kids once Sophia disappeared.  While this could've avoided both gross CC and Santana affairs, the times were not right for a story about intersectional inequity.
    • https://www.instagram.com/p/DJxW5DLJLId/ Another World is my forever favorite soap opera. But it's finale is almost universally hated by its fans. What this is, is an edit where I've deleted everything I didn't like!!!
    • The Perkins family had potential to be a nice alternative to the more dysfunctional Capwells and wackier Lockridges... but I think a few factors did in the family. 1) Recasting of Joe Perkins 2) Bad casting of the Perkins Patriarch, and the one note writing for that character. 3) Lack of antagonistic interaction between the Capwells/Lockridges and Perkins.  (There was no awkwardness between Jade/Ted.. or CC disapproving of his son being friends with that Perkins girl, etc). 4) Wasting of Jade thus wasting the potential of the actress (which was realized on Days of Our Lives).  She had more potential than Laken oddly enough. The only member of the Perkins family that had appeal and a somewhat thought out story arc was Amy.
    • @GymnastGuyThanks for posting the three new Capitol 1985 episodes today. The two labeled March 12, and 13 are misidentified. The March 12 labeled one actually aired November 12 1985 which I figured out because Kenny Rogers' movie Wild Horses aired November 12th and it was announced over the "March 12" Cap credits. In addition, Craig Carlson is listed in the April credits but not the March. Craig left Capitol sometime after July 1985 before he rejoined OLTL in the credits by October 15, 1985; he was replaced on Cap by Radcliffe and Hamner. In these posted episodes Radcliffe/Hamner names appear in the March 85 episodes but not in the April.
