  1. Amber isn't finished yet. http://www.teenvogue.com/story/amber-tamblyn-open-letter-james-woods

  2. Amber Tamblyn rocks. (And yes, when she was 16, she was still on GH.)

  3. The Taylor Swift Thread

You have an effortless bitchiness and a knack for the most random pop culture references. Combined, it's a beautiful thing to see.

Stay in your lane, honey. This ain't it. The pre-choruses are fine, but the rest of it...Jesus, no. Ack.
  5. The Taylor Swift Thread

Some of the music is good, but the title is what a lot of abusers say to their victims, and add that in with the idea that she's implying that she's a villain who thinks she's still a heroine...it's a mixed bag for me, for sure.
  6. The Taylor Swift Thread

Her looks AWFUL, like a rat's nest. And is that a SEX SWING? I'm curious to see how the parents who have always considered her to be a good role model, and a "safer" musical option for their kids, are going to react to this, because this stuff might be a dealbreaker. I mean, she's my age (well, almost...she'll be 28 in December), so *I* don't care; she can do what she wants. But that persona was her bread and butter towards fame for YEARS.

I'm surprised by that, too--even with her putting all of her stuff back on Spotify, Big Machine is known for holding off albums by ALL of their artists for a certain period of time.

I definitely think she should have focused on this WAY before now--Speak Now is the one album of hers that didn't do as well sales wise as the last (and the overall singles didn't chart as well as the ones from her other albums, either), but some of the best songwriting of her career is on it--and Red is actually a great singer-songwriter showcase when you take the three big singles out (although I'll admit "Girl At Home" on the deluxe version is a weak link).

I'm weirdly intrigued by it, but hoo boy. This has the potential to BACK. FIRE. I, too, am going to need some more listens before I have a firm opinion of it. I really feel that she has songs on her debut album--some that she wrote at as young as 12 years old--that are MUCH better written than almost anything else in her career, and that at the end of the day, her best album will probably actually be considered to be Speak Now. That's what I think it should be, anyway.

Fearless DID come out November 11th, 2008. I have a lot to say right now, but some of you won't like all of it, and I don't feel like getting shanked by a hardcore group of Swifties right now, so I'll just focus on the music for now, and hope it's really good. I'll leave whatever rage I may have for later on.
  11. 40 years ago today without Elvis.

  12. RIP Glen Campbell!

Sad to hear this. Such a brilliant singer and performer. Sorry his last years were a struggle. At least he's at peace.

  13. RIP to long time DC news anchor Jim Vance. (Anyone else from the DC viewing area here?)

The dad in Home Alone. It's unfortunate my immediate memories of him were his problems with Melissa Leo.

He also had a great role as Geraldine Page's son in A Trip to Bountiful.

Sad. The AFN and diplomatic satellite stations when I was a child played The Trip to Bountiful at least once a week so that's what I always think of him from (even though Home Alone is a the better movie, sorry not sorry).

  15. Welp, I found out how small JDP's role on GH was, and now I'm not sure I should even bother watching. I should have known I would never get nice things. Thanks for putting with me being so annoying over the years though, guys. It meant a lot to know how many of you thought of me when he was cast. That really did touch me a lot. :)

The good thing is it puts his name back out there and shows people he's still working. There's so much TV being made today he might get something.

  16. GH Actress Returns

    YAY!
  17. Happy 50th Birthday Pamela Anderson (shut up, I love her), and Happy 101st Birthday, Olivia de Havilland!

Princess Diana would've been 56 today. I heard her sons William and Harry are commemorating her with a statue.

Sorry, @Bright Eyes! All my love to Canada. :) And yes, I'll admit that Pam and Dame Olivia are weird to mention together, but I love them both. And yes, Princess Diana, too. I can't believe her death was almost 20 years ago.

  18. Actor returns to GH

And even if she DID ever join DAYS, I think she would quickly find herself in second place to Ken Corday anyway. Whatever input she'd want to make would be instantly shut down by him. Yes, this. I should've read this first before my post above.
  19. Actor returns to GH

Oh goody, the Cigar Store Indian Looking Monavie Pimper is back. What joy. I'm going to stay in my "JDP comes to GH" happy place for now, thank you.
  20. GH: Soap Vet Cast

I haven't watched GH in a long while--someone let me know when he first airs, or if he has already!
  21. An old clip of GH in 1984, featuring a guy I like a lot. ;)

  22. OLTL Tribute Thread

AMEN. Gabrielle will ALWAYS be Max's one true love to me. Yes, I'm pretty sure PL created Lindsay. And, to be honest, even though I like Nora overall, I have always more or less liked Lindsay. I LOVED the story where she went to Statesville, and she and Allison Perkins were trying to figure out how to escape together.
  23. OLTL Tribute Thread

She was, for almost all of 1999 after Pam Long was let go (although apparently Harding Lemay was consulting her in some way, somehow). ABC finally forced her to hire someone near the end of 1999, so she brought on Megan McTavish as her lap dog, er I mean her HW.
  24. OLTL Tribute Thread

She was the one there when Todd punched Tea in the face, which makes me think JFP snuck that in or something, because I could only see Pam Long writing something like that if she intended to break a couple up afterwards, not, you know, actually get married again (I know, that blew up at the reception, but still). I thought Harding Lemay only became a consultant once Jill became de facto HW in 1999. I could be wrong, though.
  25. The Politics Thread

My state--Maryland--would like to have a word with you on that one. Steve Scalise was the Congressman shot. Regardless of how divided our country is, violence is NEVER the answer. I hope everyone injured there, and especially Congressman Scalise, makes a quick recovery. This is very touching. http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/337719-dem-baseball-team-praying-for-colleagues-after-shooting
