January 3, 201510 yr Author Member I've always hated the name Sonny Corinthos. It just sounds like the most ridiculous wannabe "Godfather"-ass name in the world. Ryan's Hope has one of my fave actor/character name combos: Fat Thomas as Jumbo Marino. What in the hell. Well Sonny is a nickname taken straight from The Godfather. His really name is Michael.
January 3, 201510 yr Member GH: Dr. Seymour "Sy " Katz OLTL: Lucinda SCHENK... one of the Bio teachers at my high school had that name. He never did get caught sleeping w/ a friend of mine. How is it none of us have mentioned Darlene LUNA MOODY

January 3, 201510 yr Member DuAnn Demerest DuAnn always drove me crazy as a name. It's so hard on the ear. Now I'm thinking back to poor Nancy Barrett having to play a character named Deborah Von Druden. And I never liked Astrid as a name either.
January 3, 201510 yr Member Oh thank GOD. Not really knowing the history of the show, that makes a lot more sense. Apologies on coming off such a Luddite. I just crack up at the thought of some of these names existing in real life. In reference to Brick and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof...I actually do know a little boy named Brick. His parents have a common last name and wanted something unusual and tossed around random words until they settled on Brick. I mentioned Cat on a Hot Tin Roof to her later, and she loved the idea that her son shared a name with a Paul Newman character. IDK if she ever read the play and realized the character was really gay, a fact that was pretty much removed from the movie. And I never liked Astrid as a name either. I know Astrid is a legitimate name, but anything that begins with the "Ass" sound is potentially a poor choice when naming a human being. That said, I also know a child named Astrid Luna Lastname. Also mentioned upthread....I can't believe I forgot about Trucker on Loving and Seabone Hunkle on AMC.
January 3, 201510 yr Member I love AMC to death but...Di, Del & Dixie. I can't deal with any of those damn names! Also, remember they had a character named Mookie? Awful!
January 3, 201510 yr Member Didn't Megan McTavish basically rewrite history, changing "Hunkle" to "Henry" and "Seabone" to "Paul"? And IIRC, Ryan's name was "John Ryan Curry" before his middle name suddenly became "Aloysius" instead.

January 3, 201510 yr Member Dark Shadows had some pretty wild names. Magda Rakosi, Bruno Hess, Jebez Hawkes, Angelique Bouchard, Skyler Rumson, Charity Trask, Josette duPres. They're weird, but I wouldn't call them bad. ATWT had two of the ugliest family names ever: Munson and Snyder. I'm not even crazy about Hughes. "Edith Hughes Frye" is the worst. Which brings me to AMC and "Livia Frye Cudahy," which is just gross. Well Sonny is a nickname taken straight from The Godfather. His really name is Michael. I know. I was actually griping more about "Corinthos" than "Sonny." It just feels like a manufactured name that doesn't really exist.
January 3, 201510 yr Member From what little I've seen of Search, they had their crazy names too. T.R. Cagney Hogan Mignon (But my ass think that's a classy b*tch name ) Cruiser Ryder Renata Tourner
January 3, 201510 yr Member I know. I was actually griping more about "Corinthos" than "Sonny." It just feels like a manufactured name that doesn't really exist. It does exist as a name, but it's for a city in Greece. Not sure if that's where they got it from but it would be an incredible coincidence if they made it up.
