I HAAAAAAAAAAAAATE the new characters. They make me cringe. Quiin - yuck, that hairstyle is DISGUSTING, it makes my eyes hurt. But she can work if they make her Sheila 2. Wyatt - very strange and neurotic face moves, horrible hair, looks like Chucky the killer doll. And don't even start about Aly cat - this girl can't ACT even if her life depended on it. She makes Jennifer Garies look like Meryl freaking Streep. Annoying face and body. Please soap god, I want Brooke to sleep with Liam and have my 2 months of cheap and recycled campy drama.

I think they are moving away from the Carter/Maya/Rick/Carolin quad because no one really cares. The only interesting part of it is Rick and Caroline anyways. It makes sense they would just put them together and focus on a new storyline since they already have plenty of other more popular triangle amd quads happening.

I hate Quinn and her creepy son as well. At least Quinn could get mildly interesting as the resident crazy -- Wyatt is still boring and sinister in equal measure. Not that Hope is that much better off with Liam but at least they have some chemistry and he's not constantly discussing with his mother how he is gonna do what it takes to get her in his arms.

Honestly, is it too late for Hunter Tylo and Jacquie Mac to return?! Is JMW little party show really so much better than B&B? C'mon now.

I do like the actress who plays Ally, however. She is gawky and awkward and has a touch of Jennifer Finnigan about her, and if Brad Bell is serious about making her the Traci Abbott of B&B, I am ok with that. B&B can get a bit much with its parade of perfect Barbies.

At the risk of angering the anti-Honey Bear brigade, I thought if was nice to see JG last week and her Boop Boop Dee Doop curves. It's been so long since the Forresters had anything substantial happen to them that I thought it was sweet that Donna was all "Nobody has loved me like you" to Peepaw Eric. OK, I could have done without the honey licking, and it's not like Eric to turn down a free offer of rumpy pumpy, so I can only assume that this month's Viagra delivery hasn't arrived yet? In any case, I will be rooting for Donna against this crazy GH transplant. As long as I don't have to watch her much after that -- JG is hardly KKL in her ability to drive story. I would have loved a story where Donna, married to Eric, fell for Justin Barber all over again and had a naughty affair. But since Aaron D Spears is working on other projects, I doubt we'll get Justin back except for a few random appearances.

The whole Carter/Maya/Rick/Caroline quadrangle was so awful, I thought, and even with Caroline's brand new personality, I just was not invested in it at all. Now that they seem to have put an end to that, I doubt Rick and Caroline all on their own will generate much story.

I thought I was doing people a favor

If that was the case, Liam & Hope would have been dropped decades ago.

I think that could work. Then again, Katie's around and I'm still pissed about how quickly he just dropped Thorne and her for no reason. But he's never giving Thorne fulltime story anyways, so any pairing would be doomed and off screen.

Thursday:

A whole episode just about Liam/Hope/Wyatt. Geeze. How many times can Hope/Katie have the same conversation? How many flashbacks can they show?

I enjoyed Wyatt & Quinn's conversation. They may not be great but they are written with direction and specificity. Which all could change within two episodes.

Aly... that little scheming ho. I like her. A bit. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

It's sad when Quinn, a newbie, is the most interesting thing on this show. I'm excited to see her come unraveled and I'm praying this is long term and built slowly a la Sheila or what little of what I've seen of YR Vanessa Prentiss.

Sucks to hear that Dayzee being written off. She could've at least gotten a proper send-off. Still wish she would've ended with Thomas rather than Chicken George. -_-

Hope/Wyatt/Liam/Ali. Over it and called it day one. She'll shadow Hope then flip on her & want one of her men. Why couldn't Ali be paired with a wasted Oliver? Why does everything have to be quads & triangles on this show? Ugh.

Caroline/Rick. A bore. Where is Amber? Kimberly? Caitlin? Some heifer from Rick's past that I enjoyed to come back and shake this pairing up.

Brooke and her many conquests are bore now too. I'd get more joy from a story involving Brooke working on Brooke's Bedroom than getting piledrived by Bill or Ridge when he returns.

B&B could be so good a la 93-05 when the show was actually trying and SO good.

OMG - Clarence really hit it with Quinn/Eric/Donna - my favorite lines:

Donna to Quinn: "My SLUTUITION is screaming that there is something is off about you!"

******

Donna to Eric: "You need to watch Wyatt's mom, she called me a SLUT."

Eric: "She did?"

Donna: "We both know I AM, but that's beside the point!"

Oh, Clarence, thank you for making me howl at the end of every week. I am starting to get interested in this Quinn/Donna thing. I just hate that it's centered around Eric. Couldn't they please find a man 20 years younger? Please, please, please. It would be so much more believable!

LMAO at Hope having flashbacks of things that occurred while she was unconscious!

The exterior scenes looked amazing. BB integrates their exteriors with the interior sets perfectly (and is the best lit show in daytime, so that helps). But I had to laugh as it being sunset when Aly and Liam were outside and then bright day when Liam and Hope were talking.

Thorne and Aly are adorable. I'm glad her arrival has brought him out of the cobwebbed basement. I'm digging Aly and enjoying Quinn & Wyatt's craziness.

LMAO at Liam channeling Bill.

I'm happy Kristolyn Llyod is finding other work. She's completely wasted on B&B. It's a shame we've probably seen the last of her. I thought her character had potential. Not to mention KL is a talented actress, more so than some of the show's leading heroines. I think Maya's days are numbered if this AA female generates more heat with LSV's Carter. I'm surprised and disappointed that Bell didn't have Dayzee/Carter hook-up since Marcus is more than likely gone.

I'm looking forward to Ridge's return. Brooke/Bill/Katie/Ridge is a potential goldmine.

I watched a marathon of episodes on TVGN yesterday and a couple of things struck me:

1. Quinn/Donna - love the chemistry between these two women.

2. Quinn/Wyatt & Ally/Thorne - I like that these "kids" are able to have intelligent, adult conversations with their parents.

3. Ally - I know people are divided about her, BUT 1) she's new and 2) the character is SUPPOSED to be awkward (painfully so) and I think the comes across well. Everyone is usually so polished on B&B, it's quite refreshing to have someone with a different appearance and view on the world.

    • Regarding the mobster storyline: The scripts, the cardroom set, and the writing for Joey -- are all terrible. They seem to be writing a realistic depiction of compulsive gambling as an addiction, showing that it pops into his head all the time -- it has become hardwired into his brain.  The APA (American Psychological Association) describes compulsive gambling as having a similar effect on the physical brain as drug and alcohol addiction. https://www.apa.org/monitor/2023/07/how-gambling-affects-the-brain I think Jason Graham (Doug) is doing an adequate job playing Doug as a compulsive gambler, with the thoughts/urges coming into his head all the time, and being unable to stop. However, the cardroom set is awful and the mobster storyline is a bad cliché, so it's all so uninteresting to watch. I think Mr. Graham is doing the best he can with the crap they gave him to work with. If anyone reading or watching has a gambling issue, check out Gamblers Anonymous.  They have many types of meetings -- in-person, online, video, audio, etc.  They also have resources for friends/family of compulsive gamblers.
    • Today was painful (especially for Philip).  I still feel for Xander. He was clear he was happy sharing and working with Philip. It's just one more betrayal from someone he loved. Going back to last year when he found out about Victor and Fiona, then Alex and Philip. He forgave and tried. Then Philip went behind his back again. He's been walking on the edge for weeks. This is a man who was abused, neglected and has never had any therapy for his horrific past. He has zero coping skills because he's never learned them. I hate this but I refuse to hate Xander
    • Lucy Coe wasn't even this big of a whore.
    • Kate being the one that Alex called was a nice surprise. The cut to her looking all sheek made me instantly get excited for her to get back into business mode. And the Jack reference from when she first came to town (on-screen) was inserted naturally which is always welcome. When they were talking about how much sex sells, I almost got the impression they were sizing each other up in a May/December type of way.  All the Philip stuff was gruesome. I'm happy the show isn't shying away from Xander's ugliness. I love them both, and it just makes me intrigued for the aftermath for it all to be taken seriously. I cheered when Philip spat out at that Sarah knew the truth. I'm on tenterhooks for their eventual confrontation. I was surprised that Kate wasn't a little vicious towards Sarah for Xander's obvious behavior, but maybe that's still to come. How wonderfully entangled is it that both Philip and Shawn/Steve stopped each other from getting the drug. Both equally at fault. Who/what will ultimately save Bo? And with everything going on, is a Salem where it's looking likely that EJ is about to own the hospital imminent?
    • Oddly.. Chase and Steve seem to have both vanished from the canvas in December so the Estelle return loses impact when two of her kids stop appearing shortly after her return (and I assume TR leaves in early 1986 as well). The Steve recast doesn't work... but it's odd that he has a long scene with Teri with Cagney looking jealous.. when the majority of his time on the show previously was a relationship and engagement to Stephanie (who he barely has a scene with in the episodes I see). Your idea for Wendy/Bela/Stephanie sounds just like what Ryan's Hope did with Michael/Kim/Rae... and considering Louise Shaffer was playing Rae and Stephanie.. it would have been a lousy redux of a superior story on another soap (that had months of build-up) I think Quinn becoming assistant to Stephanie was Mayer/Braxton... but not 100 % sure. I don't know if Mayer/Braxton was setting up Sarah as a bad girl disguised as a good girl.. but the actress (Joyner) was playing the scenes in that manner.. and Tomlin wisely tapped into that when he took over.
    • She’s such a caricature - which is a shame because I think the actress is capable of so much more.   I don’t know why Cady often feels like she has overcompensated in her performances. She already proved she can play much more than just Dixie Cooley during her first stint at ATWT (her best acting era). Her performances in various roles since then have been quite strange at times.
    • It feels like the show suddenly woke up today and remembered it was Sweeps month. Lots of action and forward momentum, including a delicious Nina/Carly fight.
