HOLIDAY MIRACLE: Prospect Park Back On Track To Revive AMC and OLTL

  • Member

WTF!!!!!

EXCLUSIVE: Here is a great holiday gift for soap fans: I’ve learned that Prospect Park has revived its plan to continue cancelled ABC daytime dramas All My Children and One Life To Live online. I hear the company behind USA hit Royal Pains has inked deals with SAG-AFTRA and DGA for the soaps’ production, eyed to begin in the first quarter of 2013.

While I'm not going to defend Prospect Park, no one announced Jill Larson or Thorsten Kaye were joining "All My Children" except Prospect Park. The other actors took it upon themselves to announce their signing on (or in Debbi's case, outed Darnell). As for promotion, most shows that debut in the fall could only dream of all the press our shows are getting even before filming a single episode. Sure, the dynamics are different (online vs broadcast tv), but people know about the project whether they want to admit it or not. Does that mean we can expect Prospect Park to do nothing until April? No. But when a show is in development for primetime, you hear few stories about that show outside of casting notices that are reported via sites like ours, Deadline, TVLine, EW, etc. It's when critics see a finished pilot and get to meet the stars at such events as the TCA press tours do we see press amped up.

I'm of the belief that we'll continue getting our casting and assorted information via "sources" until the next press release (due out this week wink.png) and the first film date. Once the cast meets the production staff and filming commences, all the "I wish this" or "I wish that" will happen. It just takes time. April (whatever part of the month) is a long time from now. Marketing and advertising is being handled by Hulu, which only announced it "picked up" the shows two weeks ago, so they need time to plan their marketing and advertising campaigns. They need the cast to be working to take press photos, film promos and interstitials, etc.

When everything finally comes together, we'll be happy. We just need to be patient.

Hey Errol didn't you say you were going to retire this thread at 300 pages? I think a fresh thread might be nice. Maybe one with a link to the "no discussion" thread at the top. Just a thought.

I think he changed his mind to 400.

What's the significance to February 25th?

That's when AMC is said to begin production....with OLTL on March 11.

All the talk in this thread is testament that there is interest in the online soaps and that Prospect Park, leaks and all, somehow managed something right in getting publicity. I know I came back to SON and to the soap world because of the Deadline leaked information back in December and checking out this thread for updates. I have Prospect Park to thank for checking out Days and falling in love with it, in a way.

Can I get some confirmation on that? I've only been waiting for a new OLTL opening for nine [!@#$%^&*] years.

I didn't expect any openings on Hulu, actually - just the logo and onscreen credits.

Just read that AMC/OLTL will get new opening sequences.

And to think....it only took OLTL getting cancelled and rebooted on the Internet for them to finally get a new one.

I suspect they may only have title cards......but hopefully they will go ahead and to a complete opening.

Where did you read that at....just curious.

Aww neat! But I'd rather them do modern spins on their older openings, as they don't have cast photos, which requires updates constantly and potentially cutting from the budget.

Am I wrong in presuming PP could have not allowed those characters to go to GH in the first place? I sure wish they'd been brought on as new characters to begin with. We can debate whether they (the characters) actually benefitted GH or not. Apparently many think GH did gain since theywant tocheatPP out of the characters they own and paid for. And it remains to be seen whether or not PP benefitted from FV's and Ron's peculiar vision of keeping OLTL alive. Don't see how PP got anything out of it but a headache at this point. All pp gets out of the prevailing vision I see from GH fans is that the valuable components belong on the valuable show. Pp should take whatever is left and make do.

I think the time is right to update the old Peabo Bryson opening. Obviously the visuals can change a great deal, but I'd love to see the song updated and covered.

Technically that would be a new opening, wouldn't it?

Technically, yes, but that doesn't seem to be the implication here.
