I think it's still awesome that Finola is on contract! I wonder where Valentini found the budget, she could not have come cheap.

The promo shot when Finola announced her triumphant Daytime return (and last time she was on contract at ABC):

So we get more of PodAnna, complete with heavily rewritten past, who abandons her granddaughter to go hang out with the town child killer and Det. Droopy Dawg?

Yay.

With that said, I think it's for the best if they don't bring anyone over from OLTL. Natalie is too good a character to be used to prop the heavy breathers, and I don't care about the Victor story.

Isn't this from Staying Alive? Why on earth would she want to forget that role? It is definitely her biggest. She got to dance which she loves and she worked with John Travolta. Now Travolta probably does want to forget it. LOL!

I'm glad Finola is on contract. I've always liked her. I even enjoyed her campy soap opera novel, even though it mocked La Lucci, but I'm not particularly thrilled with the storyline she has right now. I hope it gets better for her, and soon.

But yeah... I still call BS on that being the big casting news. That's not "big" news.

I am beginning to have the same feeling, something must have fallen through. I guess all we can do is speculate; I just cannot think of a return that would be considered "huge" news anymore. Even if Genie Francis were to jump ship from Y&R, I think LnL reunions have lost some of their novelty. Perhaps Mr. Wagner was in final negotiations to reprise Frisco with ABC to provide promotion for DWTS, but his early departure caused him to change his mind?

As I said, the person they were/are talking to is "eh" in regards to "big" or "huge" casting news. Again, wonderful person...not so much a shock as far as possibly joining GH.

As for Hughes, I'm happy to hear that she's on contract but Valentini making it seem like that was his big news is just not right. Although, what could he do?

I've always said that "big," "exciting," etc...is in the eye of the beholder. One person's big news is somebody else's reason to quit watching.

I'm glad for Finola if this is what she wants. A woman over 40 being treated like she matters is a refreshing change at ABC.

I still think this means GH is headed for the chopping block though.

    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
