Rebecca Budig to Bethany Joy Lenz as Michelle Bauer on GL.

And, what's funny is the first ABC recast I remember (when I first started watching in 07) was Sabine Singh to Rebecca Budig. Though not a typical 'recast' just original actress back.

The first ABC recast I remember was Nathaniel Marston to Chris Stack as Michael McBain on OLTL. (Cause Marston hit a dude)

I remember the conversation came up because some of the actors in a showcase she was directing were screwing us up thanks to their nightly habits... She didn't say what kind of partying Gibson was doing, but that it was so hard and she got so caught up in it, that she wasn't able to handle her work.

I don't think she's done anything since... Pretty sure she wasn't the same person on Amazing Race, but then again, I've never seen it.

The first recast I remember is when DENNY ALBEE replaced ROBERT BURTON in the role of Dr Peter Janssen in OLTL. It happened in November 1980....but I could watch it at the end of 1986, when those episodes where broadcast in my country... At that moment, I was really puzzled....and I didn't know what a soap opera is.....

Being a child who only got to watch on holidays from school and the summer, I think (but am not entirely sure due to YouTube screwing up my memories) that Lina Rinna to Krista Allen as Billie Reed was my first recast. I think I remember Rinna's Billie leaving Bo for Paris or something and then the next time I saw Billie she was Krista Allen in that swamp story that introduced Greta. I remember Allen going on and on about some compact she had with the letter G on it, for Georgia. ... I'm sure you people know the story.

The first recasts I can distinctly remember are Liz Keifer being Blake on GL and Martha Bryne returning to ATWT. My first Days recast memory is Ariane Munker/Ariana Chase taking over the role of Kimberly. The first recasts I got upset over was Eleni on GL and Ashley(Sherri Shattuck of course) on Y&R.

I use the word distinctly as being that in those were first castings I really paid attention too.

    • I like Margaret well enough in what I've seen of her as Paige - she is green but she has real star power.  I agree about the actor who plays Brian. He's...mostly just there. Not bad but not great.  My main issue is with the guy who plays Owen. He's just not appealing to me. I can believe Nola being obsessed with him, but he's draining to watch.  I'm surprised people objected to the quasi-incest elements as it wasn't anything that new for soaps.  Speaking of Kim, here's a rare episode of an anthology show she did called The Evil Touch.

    •   I get what you're both saying, and I think the show was lucky to have even made it that long, but I think they could have still maintained a certain audience - Second Chances did before the earthquake. CBS was an older network anyway. I think the premise of Knots was still usable, it was more the characters who were a problem - many of the older figures were played out. If the show had done a better job building up its younger cast instead of making so many poor choices in the late '80s and early '90s, they could have kept things going a little longer.
    • I wish I cared about the homeless lady as much as everyone else seems to. After the nothing burger that was the lawsuit, this just feels like another boring Naomi storyline at Orphy Genes since she has no office.
    • That's great to hear. Thanks. I wish that was more readily available.
    • Just learned that Clifton Davis wrote this song!  I had no idea.

    • I think even if Marland had wanted to write more for Sara/Adam, his hands would have been tied as Robert Milli was one of the actors dumped by P&G due to his age.  From the bits and pieces I've seen of that period, Sara does have a key role in the Carrie plot, and Marland briefly gave her son Tim a more important part. I'm not sure if they just gave up on Tim once Kevin Bacon left or if they never really cared. I did not even know for many years that there was an actor in the part after Kevin...and then not one, but two. The Spauldingfield video on Tim doesn't even show the last actor (Nigel Reed), which kind of says it all. Anyway, I do get the sense Marland has some use for Sara, or for Millette. It's only after he goes that she is dumped. Of course he didn't ever hire her for his other shows, so maybe I'm wrong. (then again he never hired Geraldine Court either and he seemed very fond of her) Ann is an odd character to me as she is a proto-Lillian in being defined by pining for a Bauer brother and being involved in the death of one of their wives. I do wonder what else they could have done with her. She was friends with Diane, wasn't she? They could have had Diane manipulate her against Mike, I suppose.
    • Yassss....come on Maurice and Brandon...give us nothing!!! Wow, their need to develop their craft shone like a blinding light this episode. Brandon in his Martin and Smitty scenes sounded like he was reading and the facial expressions were giving Disney Channel. He did much better against Maurice in the Martin v Ted scenes. Now, Teddd-dyy (Dana's voice) was just flat. I watched the episode just now after reading the comment on here that Maurice needs to stop swaying, and now I can't unsee it. Has it really been this bad all along?  Ambyr carries. I don't need to say anymore. I am kind of excited to see this Kat/Tomas/Eva stuff play out.  Bill is such a dick to Dani. Like that's the mother of your children that you cheated on with your daughter's best friend but you look to take those low blows. Lord! When he said that thing about it being obvious he didn't care about Dani anymore since he was the one that walked out...that was cold. I even felt for Dani. Bill definitely is all over the spectrum. You can see a villain possibly surfacing, but you also see this great father. The elder Duprees move a little funny. I'm wondering what that is all about. Are they just overly protective matriarch and patriarch because they think it's what's best for their family, or are they afraid their secrets will come out or there's something more sinister there. Why would Vernon want to keep that information from Martin?  I hope something interesting comes out of this June stuff, but as of right now, I'm not too invested. It's not helping my interest on Naomi or Jacob either. However, tge actress playing Naomi has comes a long way from day one.
