She tells People magazine, "In April I had been diagnosed with stage one breast cancer. I kept it private, but now I'm cancer-free." And she admits it was her own campaign work to raise awareness about the disease which "saved" her own life. She adds, "I did monthly (mammogram) exams, but I missed it.
