January 23, 201115 yr Member And you also gotta love (which I'd just noticed) : "...one of the six soaps still on the air..." Oh, really? Thanks for clarifying! I was about to think the soap budget in question was Another World. Is it evident I don't have love for this douche dude? And I was so sure it was the City that was getting the budget cut. I though The City would have to let go that women who used to be a man or something. Edited January 23, 201115 yr by ER Tosh
January 23, 201115 yr Member I actually like the way that ABC is showing reruns now. It's more random, but I prefer the 1 or 2 reruns a month set up to them taking a whole month off, (which I think could cost them viewers). And I also prefer it to the option of them only airing 4 shows a week all the time. IMO, them deciding to air reruns on different dates here and there, is not much different than it would be if there more holidays in the year. Or if there were more press conferences/special reports happening that would prevent people from seeing soaps on various days. I don't mind the air an old episode on various dates like Feb 11th, or dates like March 13th, April 18th etc... type of set up. I just think it would be better if they let people know a few days ahead of time, when they will air the next batch of old episodes. And I would like to see them go farther back in the vault than like the 2000's for AMC or 95/96 for GH. I would like to see them air more classic episodes from the 90's, 80's, and 70's. Regarding the blind item, I wouldn't wish for any soap to lose 50% of their budget. But I definitely hope it's not AMC. AMC's my favorite of the soaps, and I think it would really hurt AMC to lose 50% of their budget. Especially since they have already been taking measures to save money. January 23, 201115 yr Member It sucks for any soap to have 50% of their budget slashed but I am hoping beyond hope that its not AMC and that its GH. I love AMC and I feel like a broken record saying that but I don't want it canceled. AMC, B&B and DAYS are the only shows that I actually look forward to seeing each day. GH had me there for awhile but Vanessa Marcil who I wanted to come back has ruined the show for me. Robert Guza needs to be slapped!
January 23, 201115 yr Member just say what show it is or don't, but these " I know something you don't know is annoying", it is almost like they want attention well of course he wants attention, he wants people to have a reason to check his site again and again. We can't blame him for that. There probably is no upside to revealing scoop on the weekend when traffic is lower presumably.
January 23, 201115 yr Member Surprise!! It's The Price is Right! Instead of giving away an ENTIRE living room, you get just a chaise! Instead of getting ROUND-TRIP AIRPLANE TICKETS to the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort!!!!, you get A ONE-WAY TICKET to beautiful downtown ABU DHABI!! Instead of a brand-new 2011 CHEVY VOLT, you get a second-hand 1991 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER!!! GOOD LORD, don't give FREEmantle anymore bright ideas.
January 23, 201115 yr Member Maybe they're robbing Peter to pay Paul... It could be, if GH is given the bigger allowance of the three on ABCD, they'll take 50% of its budget and give 25% to OLTL and 25% to AMC... if this is even an ABC show this giddy "journalist" is talking about.
January 23, 201115 yr Member And I was so sure it was the City that was getting the budget cut. I though The City would have to let go that women who used to be a man or something. I was thinking maybe it was Dark Shadows that got a budget cut.... But seriously...just imagine what that soap would have been like on an even tighter budget than it aldready was.
January 23, 201115 yr Member LoL, I could only imagine if it was DAYS. 2011 Dool minus 50 percent of the budget would be the 10 cast members that are left (after cuts) doing a story where they are under house arrest in the DiMera mansion. Edited January 23, 201115 yr by ER Tosh
January 23, 201115 yr Member I would be totally against long breaks. If they wanna save money, just air 4 times a week and air a classic episode every Friday. One good way to shut off a big drain on ABC-Disney's budget: fire Frons and do away with the Daytime Division altogether. If ABC soaps aired 11 months of original content annually with 1 month of reruns/something else OR 58 reruns annually instead of the current 18, how would that generate income for ABC's soaps?
January 23, 201115 yr Member @Jamey_Giddens Jamey_Giddens @follthestars A source tells me ABC has three talk shows ready to go at any moment. @Jamey_Giddens Morning! Rumblings are that an ABC soap is in TROUBLE & the ax may swing. I think #AMC over #OLTL. Thoughts? — Gazin@theSTARS (@Gazin_theSTARS) January 21, 2011 Aisha Tyler's talk show pilot failed after two tryouts in mid-2009. At the time, ABC insisted the pilot was for syndication or cable. It wasn't a replacement for one of their soaps. There had been strong rumors earlier that OLTL or AMC would be canceled (this was before they announced the AMC move). It slipped out to the business press that a Canadian affiliate had asked ABC for one hour of their soap block back. Between the two lowest-rated, they preferred taking the OLTL hour back because its low ratings/demos were losing it the most money. Here's their latest talker pilot: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2010/11/abc-finds-man-for-tori-spelling-and-is-developing-show-for-food-networks-danny-boome.html

I think you mean "parking lot." I can't wait to see Erica and Bianca having picnics with the girls in the vacant lot next to a Dollar General.
January 23, 201115 yr Author Member Anyone know if Tony Geary gets paid vacations? If so, then I think that's something GH could cut if that's the show getting the budget cut
