I suppose Dalton was another old school Hollywood hire by that point but knowing that crazy Phyllis was the daughter of crazy Julia Cumson from Falcon Crest makes sense in a cosmic way lol. I have no memory of Phyllis mother. I'm guessing a short arc in spring or summer 1995. I haven't revisited 1995, mainly because I associate that year with Nick/Sharon eating the show.

October 9, 2025Oct 9 Member Does anyone recall Dalton as Lydia? What was the story there? Was there another Lydia at some point? What about Phyllis' dad? If they wanted to keep Phyllis front and center maybe they needed to do more with her family.

I feel like he might have played piano and sung to Patty in one of the 80s recaps, but not sure about in concert.

He should avoid his rhythmic thrusts and fist pumping. It usually looks awkward bc the songs are not fast-paced. He would look wayyyy cooler behind a keyboard, like Christine McVie from Fleetwood Mac. Or one of those giant portable keyboards you wear across your torso, with a big strap, like Prince and the Revolution.
October 17, 2025Oct 17 Member Here’s what bothers me about the beginning of the Victor/Nikki/Jack/Ashley quad… It happens SO FAST, less than a year, after Niktor’s “fairy-tale” wedding, which overcame close brushes with murder by both Rick and Eve, Victor’s groin injury, and stupid lies related to Victoria’s paternity. After the wedding, despite being extremely immature, Nikki does a fantastic job of fitting herself into Victor’s world: reuniting him with his mother, successfully pulling off the society charity ball, teaming up with him to gather info on the Mergeron family for his business deal. The beginning of the rift is Jack enticing Nikki to be a Jabot model, which rubs Victor wrong. This should NOT surprise Victor! He observed this scenario playing out in ’83, where Nikki insisted on continuing to strip after marrying Kevin. Victor should have been grateful that Nikki went to work at Jabot instead of returning to the Bayou! Overall, Victor failed to acknowledge and appreciate Nikki’s true nature of enjoying the spotlight. This is really pathetic on his part, as he is a good two decades older and should know better. If Victor had remained faithful and supportive of Nikki, there wouldn’t have an opening for Jack to exploit.

Controversial take here, but if it wasn't for the African-American audience, Y&R probably would not have been #1 by a large margin from the end of the 1988 writer's strike until the start of OJ.
October 18, 2025Oct 18 Member I'm not sure that is controversial tbh. I think the Black audience is largely responsible for keeping Y&R where it is.
