BTW is there a conscense on Who's the best Laura after Susan? who i understand made legendary stuff with the role; Floy Dean, Susan Oliver, Rosemary Forsyth or Jaime Lyn Bauer? I love Jaime but of what i've seen of her Laura in the 1990's she was one hot mess lol especially compared with what i heard of the Previous Lauras

ONLY EVE BIRTHDAYS...

Fun Fact: Abigail Klein (Stephanie) becomes the third "Days" contract actor to be born on Christmas Eve, joining Patrice Chanel (Gail Carson) and Mark Valley (Jack Deveraux). Two "Days" contract actors have New Year's Eve birthdays: Don Diamont (Carlo Forenza) and Margaret Mason (Linda Anderson). While there are five "Days" actors in total to have birthdays on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, no "Days" contract actors have ever been born on Christmas Day or New Year's Day.

A question regarding Susan Oliver.

How did viewers of the time regard her portrayal? She had big shoes to fill but was an accomplished actress.

Signing her was quite a coup for Days as she was a respected primetime actress.

What were the circumstances regarding her short stay?

Was there negative viewer reaction or did  Susan not adjust to daytime?

Sounds like she was out of money, the one year at Days helped fill her bank account, and then she asked to leave to work on a movie.  Just found these for you:

I also stumbled into this fun find when I was looking up Susan Oliver:

THE FIRST "DAYS" CRITIC??

Vince Leonard, TV critic for The Pittsburgh Press who died in 2019, might have been the first ever TV critic hoping for the cancellation of "Days"...one week after it debuted! Here's his response to a fan, which appeared in the November 15, 1965 issue, who asked why "Moment of Truth" (the soap "Days" replaced) had been cancelled:

Thanks Jason for those articles.

I wonder if Susan only agreed to a year in the first place?

Maybe story wise they would have been better off biting the bullet and killing off Laura, leaving Bill a grieving widower,

Kind hearted Maggie feels sorry for him and becomes a mother figure to Jennifer and they get closer. Jealous Mickey finds it difficult to handle...

I liked Jaime Lyn Bauer as Laura, but obviously it was a huge retooling of the character. They de-aged her by a decade, and her mental illness became her primary characteristic -- it would've been nice if they'd had a long-term goal of building her back into who the prior Laura(s) had been, but they basically just let her be "Jennifer and Mike's mom who spent many years in a sanitarium."

date: Monday, May 5 | Christopher Dunn, Lynn Martin | Anthony Pascarelli Dana is certifiably insane. Beyond insane. And I oop... Anita is about to pop off on her, and this is where it gets good. Oh God, Deadbeat, stop while you're ahead. You are not one to talk with how you treat your husband and children. Settle. Go on, Nicole. Tell Theodore exactly who his busted ass is. Not Dana comparing herself to those she's compared herself to. Damn, Katherine is really putting Eva beyond the bottom of her shoe with her insults. Savage, but deserved, because she called out Eva the first day. She knew, and not a single person believed her. Oh, Theodore, how dare you try and play yourself on the same level as Nicole; it's completely different. Mama Anita is up to bat, and she's going to come out swinging. And she delivered it to Dana in the way only the matriarch of a family could. Nicole kicking Theodore out "day by day" is everything. She's not taking this anything but day by day. W H E W... Katherine telling Eva she's dead to her. Wow. That's got to cut. Dana locking Eva's ass out and drinking her wine in her robe is the ultimate villain. True villain. Notes: Anyone trying to sell that Brandon Claybon (Martin) has improved in his acting must be lying, because this is laughable and bad. Next up for recast: the role of Martin Richardson. Omg. It's so damn bad. This man cannot act. At all. He's got to GO! Daphnée Duplaix (Nicole) is showing how much she's been missed from daytime. Ambyr Michelle (Eva) once again gave an award-winning performance in her scenes. Outstanding, standout star! The montage with Tamara Tunie (Anita) singing "Amazing Grace" was a brilliant touch to wrap up the episode, and to allow us the ability of moving on on Thursday.
    • That ending was beautifully done. Anita took us to church.
    • Leslie is TRASH, locking poor Eva out
    • That !@#$%^&*]ed up for Leslie to lock Eva out
    • Haha - my bad

Beautiful rendition of Amazing Grace by Anita. Effective way to pull on our emotions, especially watching Nicole and Kat cuddle together on the couch.
    • The end of this montage would have been a good time to have an explosion inadvertently kill off Ashley and Derek in classic Guza style.

    • No it was the preview for this week lol
    • Wait, did I miss something - didn't last Friday's episode end with Eva arriving at a man's doorstep? But here she was with Kat the full time. Oh wait, was that the previews I'm thinking of? Haha, oops.  I can't believe Leslie locked Eva out of the damn house!
    • I'd crawl into a hole and die if Anita ever came for me the way she is Leslie lol
