It makes sense for the people floundering in the polls. People like her, who are midlevel, don't need it. And it will hurt her image, not just now, but in the long-term. All she has do is see how little Bernie got out of all the endless press fawning over his appearance - he has actually dropped in polling.

But let's be honest, they can't ban abortion. They can ban abortion for poor women and girls. The rich and middle class will just fly to California, Toronto or Paris. Unless of course, this really does become Gilead and they don't let women leave.

It's sick to try to force a women to have her rapist child.  It's even sicker when the pregnant person is a child herself.  The people doing this are mostly men and have no idea (or don't GAF) about the emotional and physical toll pregnancy takes on some women. It's nothing any trauma victim should be forced to endure and that goes double for a child victim.

Just this conversation has shown how far they've moved the window though. Now we aren't talking about the fact that women have a constitutional right to abortion.  We're talking about if a woman even has a right to ownership of her body in cases where a man has violated it.  We're talking about whether the state or parents/physicians know best when a 10 year old rape victim turns up pregnant.

TLDR: Things are f*cked up

Wendy Vitter's husband is a whore who slept with prostitutes and has a diaper fetish. I take consultation in the fact that she was cheated on and humiliated by his antics. Yes, that is petty, but at this point it's hard not to be petty.

And I'm sure the Pentagon had to be sprayed with Lysol. Gene Simmons looks like he smells like a dead skunk.

You are so right.  Bills such as these are designed to punish poor women and girls (and WOC) for getting pregnant out of wedlock.  Pure and simple.

    • Roger's return storyline may have been silly but Roger's return was what lead to GL's last golden era.  It was the combination of Roger's return and Robert Calhoun becoming EP that got GL to finally hit it's stride after some really bad years. It will always disappoint me that the ratings during Robert Calhoun's run didn't reflect the quality of the show.
    • He also gave some of the best episodes, like the episodes surrounding Doug's death. The problem with Days was that Ron had a horrible vision from he top. I don't feel the same for MVJ and nothing that has happened in all these months suggests she doesn't have a handle on the show. Now if it becomes an issue I'll acknowledge it, but I'm not seeing it so far.
    • Jean Hackney was awful and that lead to Ben's exit story which sucked. I liked Ben/Val together. Val's love for Ben was that of a grown woman moving on with her life and Ben's love for Val made him willingly decide to raise another man's children as his own.
    • It wasn't just a GL thing, it was an 80s thing. Opulent party scenes on soaps were very big back then. Even in regular episodes where people are just going to dinner they're dressed up like they're going to see royalty.
    • Just started the May 27 episode and first thing I see is that Willow got an ugly haircut since hte last time i watched   I dont have the context for how everthing went down but I know its all Lulu's fault which make her a bish for what she did to Gio
    • I'm pretty sure he was. But point taken. GL really had a thing for masked and costumed balls/parties in the '80's. Everyone looks fabulous, but those poor costume designers.
    • Still here ^^ Come on Prime Video, it's due to bring it back!
    • Got through the eighth season, and it was... painful.

    • I agree 100% with both you and Mitch64.  Soaps have been going further and further off-course since 1981. TPTB just don't have a fundamental understanding of what makes soap fans so loyal. I'd love to be on a writing team with both of you.  Maybe we could put together a real soap opera, and show people what its all about...
    • They weren't in town, but Fletcher worked at the paper (and we saw anniversary Journal headlines for the 50th, although I don't remember if Roger was one of them), and I'd think Alex would have at least heard of him due to the damage he did to Spaulding only a few years before her return to the fold. I know I have to remember it's not real life, of course.
