Maybe so, but NYC is not Melbourne, they will send his a$s back on a plane out of there. This is the city of September 11th, 2001, they don't play.

NYC was also the first epicenter of the COVID pandemic in the United States, so they won't give him leeway in that regard either. I'd be interested in watching him try though.

Mary Carrillo was on with Christiane Amanpour and said Novak should not be allowed to play.  He along with the TA and Craig Tiley are responsible for all this mess. She said Craig bent the rules to get Novak to play. She wonders how long he'll stay in his position. She also said Novak broke a lot of ATP rules/guidelines. That he's in a whole lot of trouble.

That's ridiculous!

The majors pretty much decide their own standards, practices and policies. Tennis has never really had that type of cohesion, from prize money to fines, etc. it all seems to depend on the individual tournament. Even during the pandemic, the first year, Wimbledon, which had taken out pandemic insurance a few years prior, elected not to have a tournament, while the U.S  Open decided to stage a tournament without spectators, and Roland Garros moved the dates of their tournament that year from spring to autumn, after the US Open. The last time the 4 majors decided to coordinate judgement, was when they decided they were going to levy penalties against Naomi Osaka for declaring that, for mental health reasons, she would skip the post-match press conference during the Roland Garros tournament and accept the fines. Collectively, and within short order they decided to issue a joint statement stating that they would penalize her for any missed press conference, which could ultimately have resulted in her expulsion from their tournaments, Osaka withdrew from Roland Garros after she won her second round match. The four major tournaments really haven't been in accord in any other matters since.

In other words, whatever seems to work for each individual tournament is what they decide to do. Every tennis association for themselves.

I can't believe how poorly the Australian Open will be covered by ESPN. Most if not all will be shown on ESPN+. That's ridiculous! Why do they want the tournament if they aren't showing it on TV?

I did notice too that ESPN acquired the rights to PGA tournaments which now airs on ESPN+.

I remember watching Chris Evert compete on TV in 1975.  TV always showed less women's sports than men's sports back then. Sigh.
Grateful that they caught Evert's cancer early.

That's two things I don't miss.
1) the old days of limited TV coverage of women's sports
2) the old days of untreatable cancers.

    • yes. today Monday's episode started with words displayed "part 1" and ended with "to be continued"
    • I find Missy Reeve's views offensive and I don't want to defend her, but I don't think she ever said anything publicly about Days "gay content".   In fact, I don't think she's ever said anything negative about Days at all.  There's no indication Missy is difficult or unprofessional on set-except for the whole affair thing years ago lol-but that's a whole different topic. I can dislike Missy as a person and still think she's the perfect fit for Jen.  Cady tried and it didn't work for me.  Whenever Missy steps into the role it works.  It's a two things can be true situation.  Missy has some bad opinions, but she's great at playing Jennifer.
    • Doesn't the funeral go into Tuesday
    • Christian Streaty wrote her second freelance script today on Days. Surprised they gave the first funeral episode to a newbie.
    • And the third thing, which I have no cite for, and I may look to see if one is findable, but supposedly she said that the show had too much gay content in it. And, to be fair, that could be someone making a criticism about balance & not be bigotry but when it's added to the other, that's why it bugs people.

The greatest tv series season finale in history.
    • Mick Savage was sooo unbearable. And more unbearable was the reaction from the female characters to him - they were acting like he is God's gift to women and sooo irresistible. To a point of unbelievable cringe.
    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?
    • This is the coldest early June in my life. It's like it's January.
