Compared to Wimbledon...The British Open final round had a 5.0 rating....up from last year's 3.6 rating when Jordan Spieth won it. Tiger's charge against the new stars including Spieth brought in the ratings....the ratings peaked at 6.7 in the last half hour of the broadcast.

Tiger’s really a paradigm-shifting pop culture icon, and the possibility of ending a 10-year major drought would have been huge. The only person in tennis who comes close right now in America is Serena, which is why the ratings for the final Saturday of Wimbledon were so good. I think it’s hard to draw a definitive conclusion about this year’s men’s final, as it was up against a World Cup final watched by nearly 12 million viewers.

I think that makes sense. An American legend of the sport (Venus) on a comeback trail.

Federer is clearly famous, but no one thought that Cilic final would be much of anything (it wasn’t). If he’d been playing Nadal, at least there would be a narrative. If he’d been playing a healthy Djokovic or Murray or Delpo, at least there could have been a competitive match, since all have beaten Federer at the highest levels. Cilic? Not so much.

Just look at last year's US Open....no Serena but all American semifinals(higher ratings) ......the problem with the men's tour is that there is no American male  that is likable ...that's not even counting success.....

In golf you have all these new American males vying for all the majors which leads to better ratings than tennis. There are some unlikable players but some very likable. Men's tennis doesn't have the flood of Americans vying for majors.

I just saw this!

All those times when people used to wonder why he shielded his son's face from public view, my immediate thoughts were always that perhaps he wanted to protect his son from the possibility of being kidnapped.

The threat is very real if he's in Serbia, although I know he lives in Monte Carlo but clearly he and is wife have family who still live there.

    • I do think there's room for optimism, especially with Amazon making enough new episodes to last until December. There's still time for the various players to get their ducks in a row. Guess we'll know soon enough!
    • I do agree it's better to just have people pop back into town. I never understood why Roger needed a mask on an island, when neither Fletcher or Alex would've known who he was. And the vine...sigh. Couldn't he have just been sent crashing through a window or something?
    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
