And I can name one actress who deserves it over those 25 other actresses. And that would be Kate Collins.

People, she was INCREDIBLE. She took what was supposed to be a camped up, ruined version of this character and sneakily put her own twist in there that made people feel for her. I can think of several parts where she nearly brought me to tears...anything from her last few episodes in jail and the mental institution...her reaction to the Mardi Gras ball explosion...and not to mention a lot of other great stuff.

Rowell and the others might have done amazing jobs this past year, but IMO, Kate Collins took what they did in 200 episodes and did it in 50.

I agree with you Shadow

Kate Collins rocked the house

Actually Kelly Monaco is past the Younger Actress age. On PC she was nominated for Supporting Actress

Oh yeah - I shouldn't have said 'younger actresses' - I meant that usually when you think of Lead Actress, you think of the older actresses or moms on the show....but last year KeMo was in the Lead - and she is a younger actress - not Younger category, but maybe Supporting age.

lol - that probably makes no sense...but yeah.

I couldn't Agree more with this. She was amazing - Kate made you feel sorry for her, even though she was crazy - and her performances in the cabin and mental institute were the BEST. No one could touch the emotion she tapped into for those scenes.

Best show? A nine way tie for last.

:lol::lol::lol:

Kate Collins IS great as Janet, but I don't think she deserves Supporting.

There should've been a category for temporary return or something similar.

I disagree with a nine way race for last. Even though most soaps were inconsistent this year, none were as awful as AMC or PSNS. I do think Y&R/ATWT/GH deserve top honors though. And I don't understand the criticizing for GH this year. They actually did a decent job and people still complain.

Beemer would have gotten newcomer if Logan didn't feel the constant need to lick JER's ass hole in every article. He had to give JER at least one (undeserved) shout out.

Steve, The Daytime Emmy rulebook states that Younger Actor and Actress must be age 25 and under and proof of age must be submitted :)

Rick I realized I had it wrong. Both Kelli Giddish and Alexa Havins turned 26 this year and not 27. They will both be eligible for part of the year still.

Lavoisier and Graziadei turned 27 this year, and not Giddis and Havins. Both Lavoisier and Graziadie were submitted last year at age 26 but were 25 for part of the year.

I have corrected my previous post too.

Thanks Rick.

I guess I'm in the minorty but I don't feel Cady did anything really emmy worthy.

Here's what ML said about each pick:

Best Actress:

Damn, what a tough category, B&B's Susan Flannery(Stephanie), GH's Nancy Lee Grahn(Alexis), DOOL's Kristian Alfonso(Hope), GL's Crystal Chappell(Olivia) and GL's Gina Tognoni(Dinah) all did terrific, career-capping work. Still Kim Zimmer blew 'em out of the water. As GL's cancer-stricken Reva, she was raw, gutsy, profound, incomparable.

Best Actor:

Peter Bergman

His bad apple character, Jack, is a brilliant, maddeningly complex creation. One minute he's so lost and vulnerable you want to hug him, the next you want to boil him alive.

Best Supporting Actress:

All My Children's Kate Collins

As Janet, the killer dingbat, she did the hammiest and ballsiest, yet most delicately nuanced, work we've seen in ages. Spring her from the slammer and bring her back!

Best Supporting Actor:

Days' Bryan Dattilo(Lucas)

Over the years, he's morphed from Tom Cruise look-alike into a funny, feral, extremely exciting star-and it's high time the snooty, Days-hating Emmy voters take note of that.

Discovery of the Year

Did hell freeze over? Passions finally added a real actor to it's naked-boy cast: the sensational James Stevenson(Jared)

Best Guest Star

B&B's Betty White(Ann)

her fire-and-ice performance was titanic and unforgettable. And to think, she's only 84.

Best Soap

General Hospital

Despite it's mopey mobsters and shameless aping of Grey's Anatomy, it's still an emotional grabber. Besides, how can you not love a show that brought back pop icon Rick Springfield and the transcendant Genie Francis

^Thanks.

I wish he'd be more indepth. I don't disagree with GH for best show, but that's a lousy reason to name it best show.

I agree

I like Bryan Dattilo, but I think there are many more actors that should get it over him(Jacob Young for example)

LOL - I think you were a little blinded by your utter disgust and HATE for the character Dixie most of 2006. :P;)

I think she was pretty good in those episodes where she saw Tad and JR for the first time back in April. Also, she was pretty good in a few breakdown scenes over finding Kate.

LOL probably :P I try to be fair and give even actors I don't care for their due if they deserve it. The scene with JR when she first saw him was good, BUT to me Jacob Young owned that scene.

I have to agree with you on that. I also think Jeff Branson has done some great stuff here recently with the death of Erin.

Since Emmy nominations are based on two episodes and not the entire year, I think JB will have a really good shot in the supporting actor category for those performances last week.

I agree with the Kate Collins nod. The episodes I liked in particular include her confrontation with Zach in the jail as well as her scenes with Amanda once she was institutionalized. She was subtle, not over the top, and was spectacular. I believed the woman was crazy.

In all honesty, the best actress pre-noms for AMC should be Alicia and Alexa IMO. But they will probably both be bumped to Supporting.

They will put Alexa in Young Actress this year. It is her last year to compete in that category. They will put here there because honestly I feel she is their strongest contender here this year. That will leave Supporting open for 2 other actresses.
