BEST ACTRESS Guiding Light's Kim Zimmer (Reva)

Over Nancy Lee Grahn

BEST ACTOR The Young and the Restless' Peter Bergman (Jack)

IA.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS All My Children's Kate Collins (Janet)

Heard she's great, but she's been off the show for months now, while performers like Victoria Rowell, Lesli Kay, and others have done the damn thing.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR Days of Our Lives' Bryan Dattilo (Lucas)

Not sure if he trumped the work of Kristoff St. John or Ric Hearst.

DISCOVERY OF THE YEAR Passions' James Stevenson (Jared)

Hmm...

BEST GUEST STAR The Bold and the Beautiful's Betty White (Ann)

I s'pose.

BEST SOAP General Hospital

This year, possibly.

Totally agree on Best Soap is General Hospital.

I like Peter Bergman a lot, but come one, Tony Geary OWNED this year. Kim Zimmer, I would rank her top three alongside Susan Flannery and NLG. Very tight between the three of them.

Ric Hearst or Tyler Christopher I would say. Kate Collins? I like her, but not for the whole year. For the gurst star yes, because she reallyu wasn't on that much. Lesli Kay was phenomenal this year as was Rebecca Herbst.

Discovery of the Year, well....I would say Brandon Beemer on Days.

I disagree with just about all of them.

Um, yeah, okay, she was in 53 episodes, and she had a special contract. That is definitely not a guest star and Kate definitely worked her ass off and definitely deserves to be called the best supporting actress by ANY magazine that puts a 2006 Review article. That's all I have to say. I can't wait for her to return in February.

GH is horrible. Can't sit through it. Nothing good to say about it. Just awful.

The past few years of GH gets the award for the all-time worst soap ever.

Currently it's only marginally better than when Pratt was still there. But it's still so bad I can't watch it.

There's no payoff to anything. Just a lot of shrieking and yelling. Fake emotions to cover the fact that nothing's going on. Everyone is dark nasty & horrible with no sunshine & light. There's still way too much gun-waving.

In short it's a huge turnoff.

At this point all of ABC is awful. But GH got worse first. It's still much worse than the others.

Bringing back excellent characters and trashing them, doing nothing solid with them, moving them in and out quickly, and doing something then taking it back (along with not fixing that disgusting Rick Webber mess) is just NOT getting around the terrible writing. The show still stinks.

I agree with all of them. With the Supporting Actor and Actress especially there are so many talented ones this year, that he could of chosen any that have been mentioned and things would have been okay. But the two he picked were good too.

Love that James Stevenson got some love.

Emmy talk this year is going to be very interesting I can already tell. Of course if the Emmy's come out like they did last year when the front burners were snubbed there could lots of disappointed folks.

I'm actually very surprised that he didn't name VR Best Supporting Actress. In one of his recent columns about Y&R, he made a point of noting how ridiculous it was that she didn't have an Emmy already.

HELL YES! I am so glad that she isn't going unnoticed since her work was early in 2006. She gave AMAZING performances day and day, month after month. She so deserves to be recognized and I'm hoping her co-workers pre-nom her (I have a feeling they won't though :()

Who do you think they'll end up pre-nomming instead? Cady McClain? Bobbie Eakes? I would think they'd put Lucci and Minshew for Lead?

Well honestly - I think Minshew will go Supporting. She'll have a better shot - and one could argue that most of her material in the second part of 2006 was supporting to Dixie and Zach. Plus they just never put younger actresses into the Lead (except KeMo last year).

Cady McClain and Susan Lucci for Lead - Alicia and Alexa Havins for Supporting - those are my guesses. Bc Alexa is now old enough right?

Bobbie Eakes just didn't really have much this year - she had a few episodes that were standout - but other than that, I think the show's votes will go elsewhere this year thanks to Cady returning.

I really hope Kate Collins gets in there though - she is most deserving out of anyone IMO.

Minshew for Lead?

 I accepted long ago that's never going to happen. She'll be pre-nommed in Supporting, mark my words. Cady will go lead.

I'm happy with his choice of Kate Collins, but I think Kate, unfortunately & conspicuously, will be left off the ballot. Look for Minshew and Eakes or Kelli Giddish to be on there.

I actually don't mind any of his choices- I certainly thought Bryan Datillo rose above his material on several occasions this year. The Kate revelation as well as the Sami/Stan revelation were interesting mainly because of Datillo's dynamic performance. I agree, however, with the general consensus that Dan Gauthier is the true Best Supporting Actor of '06. Nobody was better than Dan.

Kim Zimmer has been fantastic this year as always. I think Nancy Grahn & Maura West are right up there with her, however.

There's no arguing with Peter Bergman.

No show was great this year, but 'GH' was better than some, if not all, of the soaps for much of the year.

I'm cool with the James Stevenson choice. I may not be the biggest Passions fan around but at least Logan pimps it and talks about it, unlike the rest of the mainstream soap press.

Also, alwaysamc- I believe Alexa Havins still qualifies for younger actress. I think Kelli Giddish is now out of the age range, but I think Alexa is still 25 or 26, both eligible ages.

Yeah I was definitely thinking Dan should have gotten this over Bryan - I mean Bryan is great - but Dan had the strong material and delivered like a champ. Greg Vaughan was good too this year - but Dan again should reign supreme.

Although wait - I forgot about Jacob Young who was outstanding for most of the first part of 2006. Crap.

Oh!! Well then perfect - Alexa and Levin for Younger for sure.

Then Kate and Alicia M. for supporting. Cady and Lucci for Lead.

Bobbie and Kelli G. are both great, but didn't have the material like the other ladies did this year.

Jacob Young was PHENOM as well, but I thought Dan had stronger material to work with.

His choices were pretty awful and I maintain that GH was dreadful this year. From the virus story with fell apart (and ruined the character of Holly) to the summer of repulsive sleaze (which cost the show a million viewers) to the stunt Laura return and their dud of a wedding. But I fully expect them to take home their third consecutive (undeserved) Emmy for Best Drama at the Emmys.
