It would make the most sense for Mystique to be Val and be in Genosha as Kurt (Nightcrawler) is there too. Speaking of that, I hope that Graydon Creed somehow pops back up b/c last we saw him, he got tossed somewhere cold with his father, Sabertooth (in the original cartoon). That was an arc in the original cartoon run that could've been expanded on a few episodes.- Disney+ X-Men'97
@Vee didn't it come out that Beau also might've had an OnlyFans too? Regardless, they need to find a way to keep this man on the staff somehow. With the 10 episodes they got, he threaded this show together beautifully. As aforementioned, this was some of the best "soap opera" I've seen in a long time. And now that you framed it that way (it being that they might not've gotten a renewal), I get why he crammed so much in so little time. And I caught The Watcher in the sky when others pointed it out on Twitter! @BetterForgotten, I agree that Madelyn's arc should've been stretched out for episodes along with Storm's. I was hysterically laughing at the emotional affair Scott/Maddie were having and Emma being messy and peeping in on it too. I hope Emma gets planted in the mess going forward too as we know of their history in the comics. But I tip my hat to Beau that he didn't just cast Maddie aside and have things end up wrapped up with a bow. I am glad they keep the emotional connection open with Scott and the clone (Maddie). But yes, I need Emma to be tossed in the mix to make the quadrangle of Wolverine/Jean/Scott/Maddie to become a quintet.- Disney+ X-Men'97
Agreed. I think Storm/Forge's arc should've expanded a few more episodes. But next week is a detour from the Genosha massacre to Storm's story again. I am eager to see how it all plays out with Storm and the Adversary. I am just glad that this series is finally acknowledging Storm as being an omega-level mutant. Even though Gambit isn't considered omega-level, many people think this recent episode suggests that he might be given how it ended. I don't know. I am on the fence. However, after this episode, I feel for my girl, Rogue. Talk about going from a controversial triangle to her grieving both of her suitors. And this show is just right on the pulse of what is going on in America. Whether it was the trial of Magneto/the Friends of Humanity being like MAGA, or today's episode mirroring what is going on in Ukraine or even Palenstine--I am finding this show to be the must-see TV show for me thus far this year. I am glad they are making it 1 episode a week instead of binging. I just wish that it wasn't 10 episodes and they had expanded it to 15 or more. But whatever. I think the success of this show is going to lead to them rebooting Spiderman and doing other animated series.- Disney+ X-Men'97
@Vee let me know when you've watched the latest episode. I want to hear your opinion on it. And I know that Beau DeMayo might've been a terror bts but Marvel needs to rethink that and slap him in some therapy or something. He is really creating a masterpiece with this show. And to soap fans that are lurking, I STRONGLY suggest you watch. It has it soapy elements that'll endear you and is much more mature than one would imagine.- Disney+ X-Men'97
I wanted to start an official thread in case anyone else (besides me) was watching. If so, what are your thoughts about the show thus far?- Ryan's Hope Discussion Thread
I got my copy of Tom Lisanti's book in the mail (finally), and it is a page turner. From where I am at, I am curious as to why Ron did not take to Kate Mulgrew. I think a few others hinted to it (too), but it didn't get fleshed out. I hate that the initial bible of RH couldn't be discovered by Paul's kids. I know that document would be a good read. I also hope that Claire/Paul's writing methods are further explained. By that, I mean how the two would split the show up and write certain stories before I guess coming together to thread it all together. As a writer, that interests me.- Soaps that lost their original/core families
(RE: Lillian/Buzz) Were they? That could've been an aspect of the show I blocked out as I didn't care for either character. I always felt those were two characters they could've gotten rid of. Especially, Buzz. I am glad I am NOT alone in being happy that Lily/Holden weren't reunited in the end. Personally, I wanted the two characters to move on from each other and just be friends and co-parent had the show continued. The two broke up so much that I was over them. Would Rachel had even been open to returning? I always get the feel that she closed the door on GL. She is my initial Michelle, but Bethany is my fave.- Soaps that lost their original/core families
I like Beth Ann but I feel like she would've been too rough and edgy to play Michelle. Michelle had edge but not that much. I always felt Beth Ann would've been more suitable playing a vixen even when she was on OLTL. I felt like Talia was a bore and didn't let Beth Ann shine. I would've cast Martha Madison as Michelle but wasn't she being considered as Marah one point? And one pet peeve of mine on soaps is giving everyone a happy ending. I like some things to be left open to imagination or some resemblance to reality that everyone doesn't get a happy ending. Yes, while I was p*ssed Lisa (on ATWT) didn't get a happy ending, I did roll my eyes at Frank/Blake being slapped together so quickly along with Rick/Mindy and Lillian/Buzz. But I should probably go rant about that in the GL thread...- Soaps that lost their original/core families
Thank God. As a Manny fan, I didn't particularly care for NSA's Michelle. I wonder who they could've cast. My dream would've been for Bethany Joie Lenz to reprise the role, but I know One Tree Hill was still on air. And I totally blocked out Rick/Mindy at the end. It was such a blur. I always felt Mindy grew to be too sophisticated for Rick once my fave, Kimberly Simms, stepped into the role. But I guess since it was Krista Tesreau's version, it is OK.- Soaps that lost their original/core families
Guiding Light was literally depleted of the Bauers the final years. Rick only popped up every blue moon. I do hope that had the show carried on that would've changed with Leah, Jude, Robby, and Hope leading the charge. It became too Cooper and Shayne heavy. GH has all but ditched the Hardy/Webber clan. Liz and her kids are the last ones standing. Hopefully, the new regime will realize her importance (along with the hospital).- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Thanks @DRW50! I quite enjoyed that but have so many questions. Did Bruce not like Ed and Bert? Or was his venom towards Mike? He kinds of scowled towards their arrival. Much like I said in the ATWT thread, it is so weird to see Bert be a pistol and a nag. From episodes I've seen of her in the late 70s and early 80s, she mellowed out so much. Also, I heard the judge state the setting the show was in LA. Did Selby Flats come before or after? I am always curious how older fans felt about the constant changes of settings on GL. In other words, was it well-received. I noticed this too when watching a lot of old CBS soaps--they used to promote the h3ll out of ATWT at end of each episode. I guess b/c the show was their crown jewel at the time.- A Different World (TV Series)
As a fan of both shows, this warmed by heart when I watched X-Men97 this morning. This new series stays dropping Easter eggs to the olds fans that are nods to the fabulous 90s.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Was SoapClassics the one with AOL? If so, I used to wear the AW, EON, and STF episodes out. That site and WOST used to have all my attention before YouTube came on the scene and folks started posting episodes there. I am praying that The Gates leads to P&G opening up their vault and realizing there is an audience that wants to see their shows. I also hopes it leads to P&G possibly considering reviving a show or two. With procedurals being hot, I never understood why they never considered reviving EON. They could've centered the show in a new town and just kept the name and theme of the show, did a continuation with Mike & Nancy's adopted son (Timmy) and grandson (John Victor), OR did a modernized version of the show all over again with a modern day, young Mike Karr.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Agreed. Yet another thing that Reid (the character) made pop on the show. While I am a NUKE fan, I did like what Reid added to the show. I always wonder though what they would've did with the character had the show not been canceled. But I hated Henry being Katie's lackey. I am so glad they tossed him in Barbara's orbit toward the end. The only thing I didn't like was making him James' newest seed and his mother being the person to finally kill James. That was a waste of everyone's time. So many decent stunt castings happened toward the end that could've been legacy characters and JP and Goutman put those poor actors in stupid roles. I had wish they would've recast Stuart Damon as Don or Grant to give our poor Lisa a happy ending at the end of the show. And Billy Warlock could've easily been a recast Scott Eldridge or one of the other Snyder brothers (Caleb or Seth). Or even Ryder. Just the possibilities.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread

Apology accepted and I apologize too. We both clearly love this show and have a difference of opinions. We'll just agree to disagree and go from there. No need for us to detour this thread with being crass and bitter to each other. Slate marked clean. Moving on. Plus, we're all going to grieving on the 2nd as it'll be yet another anniversary year of our beloved show.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Their "family" scenes consisted of Margo taking a moral high ground and Katie or Craig getting scolded for their stupid, selfish act. Hell, most of Craig and Margo's scenes were of them in at Oakdale PD. I remember nothing about those scenes being warm and fuzzy, which has been my point. The relationship between the three of them lacked loved and complexity compared to other familial relationships on the show. And quit trying to declare who didn't watch the show or don't know the history just because they don't agree with your opinion about Katie and why folks felt she was a sh*tty, one note character. If I (or anyone else for that matter) have questions or concerns about the show's history, you are the last person in this thread I'd come to. Furthermore, if you could read (again), the tapes comment was initially lodged at another poster. You brought your ass in here and assumed like it was towards you. I was speaking to you about Goutman and why people don't particularly like Katie. So please just...- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
You must can't read b/c I said Katie and Margo's few scenes (none of them adding layers or progressing Katie) consisted of Margo either cleaning up Katie's messes or scolding her. And I've been watching ATWT since 1992 with my grandmother and mother. Don't try it. Clearly your didn't watch or you would've known about the scenes of Katie/Margo and Casey tapes..- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I am pretty certain they talked about Casey's death. If I am not mistaken, one of Katie's early arcs on the show was that she found the tapes that Casey recorded prior to them passing. (re: Goutman) I hate when people in power down the line have remorse for something that was painfully obvious. Had he not let his ego constantly get in the way of the betterment of the show, I think ATWT would've had a fighting chance. I am glad that he is no longer staining the remaining four soaps with this stupidity. (re: Katie) Fans disliked Katie b/c she was sanctimonious twit. For me, Katie was too one dimensional and had no good qualities. Every other vixen on the canvas (i.e. Carly, Emily, Molly, Allison) on the canvas at the time had something likable and redeemable about them. Katie started selfish and ended selfish. And don't get me started on how she became the moral high ground to Carly--constantly taking Carly to task as if Katie was some saint. The only time I found her remotely tolerable was when she was with Brad. Once he was killed off, it annoyed me to no end how they made her a sniveling martyr to the end. They even made Nancy's memorial episode more about Katie than Nancy and Hughes. And it still bothers me that Chris (now played by show-killer Cosgrove) got latched to Katie. Especially, in the early years when Katie never truly felt remorse for getting him arrested for stalking during the Endicott Awards story. I do think that had Katie had more familial scenes with Craig and Margo, she would've been layered even more. Most of her scenes with Margo consisted of Margo cleaning up her messes or scolding her. And her scenes with Craig consisted of Katie scolding Craig or running to him for assistance to handle something on her behalf unethically. While I enjoyed Sheffer's era most than many, he did do a lot of stupid sh*t. One of them being writing all of Lyla's kids so dislikable. Margo became too judgmental and that arc with Doc Reese... yikes. She lost all of her edge from previous eras. Craig was too cartoony. They erased any progression Craig had made b/c Sheffer was eager to have a Victor Newman/Sonny Corinthos/Stefano Dimera type villain on ATWT. Looking back, they should've made Hunt Block play Rick Ryan (Babs' brother) instead of Craig. All of the stories they played could've easily played with Rick. He still could've been the town pariah that lusted after Carly.- What Are You Listening To?

All I have to say is that they better leave my Miami alone. Miami is the ONE cast that does not need to be touched. Yes, you can upgrade all 3 of the friends of full-time, but everyone on that cast needs to return. Bravo always messing up a good thing. Dumbasses. I am glad that nuRHONY is returning with all of its players. Glad Jenna decided to return. I think she'll come into her own this season.- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
@Manny I saw the clip of Jack's affair coming out and I have to say that everyone in that scene was on point; however, I am over the Slater women sleeping around the Square. It's old. They're like turnpikes at this point, as everyone has ridden them. But I am glad that Diane Parrish/Denise is getting some shine in this story. I love that she is emerging as the star of the fallout of the Xmas episodes.- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
So I saw the current Ben tweet or post on IG about his status. I am assuming it was his last day of filming. Or was it his last airdate (as I have not been watching for a long time)? Regardless, are they recasting Ben or putting the character on ice? Honestly, Ben is a character that needs to be put out to pasture for YEARS (as in decades) before they revisit a return of the character.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
Moments like this makes me glad that I put Emmerdale on ice. It hurts my heart that they are making the son of my beloved Carl (as I loved the King clan at their height) be the latest villain. Again, I just feel this will end up poorly for Tom in that he'll be murdered much like majority of his family. And yet again poor Jimmy will be the only King on the show (besides his kids). It's low hanging fruit and yet another chance to make annoying a** Belle be a damsel and victim. - Disney+ X-Men'97
