SFT/Y&R/SB/GH: RIP Meg Bennett
RIP, Meg. I always wished that they brought Julia back in a larger capacity to somewhat humanize Victor again. From clips I've seen of her, she always had a better way of softening Victor in ways that Ashley nor Nikki could do. I do agree with posters in the thread that this is addressed on the show and that Julia's daughter is finally brought to the canvas. I think it'd be refreshing to see Victor deal with the loss of Julia and having a story that allows EB to play his soft side. Victor being so hardened all the time is draining.

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
MADD is someone I'd love to hear her idiotic takes on and why she felt they were good during that time. But my only gripe is that I don't feel that any soap podcaster/journalist will truly hold her to the flames. I've noticed that almost all of them softball the people they are interviewing. I want the interviewers rake certain people over the coals if need be. Yes, sing their praises in certain areas but call them on their sh*t in other areas.

Y&R/DAYS: Steve Kent is repordedly OUT from Sony Pictures Television
From your mouth to God's ears. I am still peeved over how they treated Victoria Rowell back in 2007. Get rid of his bummy ass.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
IDK. I don't think Mia is that easy to control. Mia is a chaos agent. She also blows Gizzy's spot up, which she did at the reunion by revealing Gizzy is messing with a ball player. If anything, I see Mia being one of the people forcing Gizelle to work and not skate by anymore. Ashley's desperation to keep a job might not work in Gizelle's favor either. I think she is unpredictable like Mia (too). So if the odds are not in Gizelle's favor, Ashley will go with the numbers to ensure she keeps a place on the show. If Gizelle is to invest in anyone, it is Nneka. But I will be surprised if they bring her back. Gizelle just better stay on the straight and narrow until they decide to bring Robyn back in the future. But to Candiace/Monique, it was obvious that production was going to do and say anything bad to put anyone anti-Monique in a good light. If that producer hasn't be fired yet, I am sure she is on her way out after this past season. I think they are going to get rid of people across the board. But I hate how people make Candiace some victim while disregarding her part in the potential paternity lie. Withholding damaging info is just as bad as spreading it. But again, Candiace got a taste of Gizzy's wrath, so (again) I am sure she is kicking herself. re: Larsa/Marcus -- I am sick of those 2 and this PR relationship. Enough already. I hope the ladies are on her ass this upcoming season with the stunts. re: Siggy's stepson--Trash. I hope they throw the book at his seditionist ass.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
@Gray Bunny, Monique has stated she'll never return. While I tend to roll my eyes over this when others say it, I believe her. It all boils down that Monique wasn't just fighting the women but Andy and production at the season 5 reunion too. It didn't help that they cut out Gizelle having a meltdown to protect her. And it didn't help either that one of the producers bashed her in the book about Housewives. I think that chapter is closed for good. @Cat, it infuriates me how people forget all about the baby shower or twist the timeline of it all. As you stated, Cryangle knew about the plot to lie about Monique's youngest child being cooked up by Gigi, Cha-Cha, and the GEBs. Cryangle sat on the lie and only confessed when Karen (who heard the story from Cryangle or Ashley--can't remember which one told her) threatened to tell Monique if she didn't. But time had already passed, which is what I feel incensed Monique. If you are my friend, you tell me something like that instantly! Not days or weeks later. I just hate that Monique tried team up with the GEBs to get Candiace. But I hate that Cryangle took the legal route right before Monique was about to stage a sit down with her, which halted everything. They both let Gizelle get the best of them. The plus side to all of this is that I believe Gizelle's reign of terror is over. Without Robyn, Gizelle will be forced to interact with all the women or be iced out. Yes, she is good with Ashley and Mia, but neither one of them are controllable like Robyn. Gizelle is finally going to have to produce content or be iced out.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
@Cat, likewise. And how Cryangle handled the situation with Monique, it is the main reason why I never have fully been able to be in her camp. Yes, Monique was wrong for whipping her ass, and yes, Monique was wrong for going to blogs to get her story out ahead of the show, but they all do that. But I know deep down in the back of her mind, Candiace is wishing she would've picked up on the kernels that Monique put down about Gizelle. Candaice was always a pawn for Gizelle to remove Monique. Once Monique was removed, Candiace was the next target; however, the stuff with Wendy occurred and Gizelle took a detour for the time being. But she made her way back and eventually got Candiace.

Disney+ X-Men'97
Me too! But can we discuss Deathbird's evil azz referring to us as the "Milky Way ghetto?!" Why does she have to be so damn cruel?! 😂 I loved the soapy, tortured scenes of Charles being torn between going back to Earth or remaining with Lilandra. I hope those two don't break up as I love them together. She's my favorite pairing with him beside Moira, who friendzoned his butt for Sean (Banshee) eons ago.

We must start a petition to make Marvel/Disney keep Beau. That man just gets it. He gives the right amount of soap, action, and the canon to the comics to make us fans VERY happy. If he's toxic in the workplace, let's get his a** some therapy but he cannot leave right now. But I will say too that this show displays that soap operas still have that "it factor" if done correctly. I can't tell you how many times on Twitter the fans refer to this show as their "soap" or "stories." That just shows that the power is still there.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
There are rumblings that they are trying to get Hilaria Baldwin on the show. Sorry, I don't wanna see Alec Baldwin or his wife get any shine on this show. That man killed someone (accident or not), and Bravo needs to maintain some type of dignity. No one wants to hear her or him come on camera and mope about being victims and using the actual victim to push that agenda. That'll turn me off real quick. If Bravo/Andy were smart, they'd need to start wooing LVP back. This is a cast that LVP can mesh well with. She'd really only have issues with Erika, who is a non-entity at this point. Dorit and Kyle are at odds, so they'd be rushing to try and snag LVP as an ally. LVP is good with Garcelle and Sutton, so she has that connection already. I'd bring back Camille as the other housewife. Or Kim.
-
Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Crystal should not have been fired. Alongside Sutton, she carried the show this past season. She earned her diamond for the upcoming season. If anyone should've been fired, it should've been Dorit. But we know they big set up is Dorit v. Kyle. I hope they bring LVP back to sit back and watch them tear each other apart.

Chris & Candiace are expecting. They apparently will announce it on ET! Congrats to her. Makes sense why she was a blubbering fool at the reunion.
-
Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Keiarna was the highlight of the reunion. I think she'll take Candiace's position on the show. I wouldn't be surprised if Bravo opts to give Robyn's flute to boring azz Cha-Cha. I don't see them firing anyone else. I see the other six being asked back.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
@Cat, nope. RHOA has not started to film yet. They are still casting and negotiating with I guess Sheree and Drew. I should go into casting b/c I could easily find women here in GA to be on RHOA that would make the ratings shoot through the roof. There are plenty of characters with money in Atlanta. You just gotta know how to find them. I don't even think Bravo is trying b/c as aforementioned, they are zero focused on trying to land someone with a "name." I am sure the production team is kicking themselves by not keeping Monica. Monica being a pregnant mess would be ratings gold. Can you imagine how it was when she probably got the news?! In other news, Robyn has officially confirmed that she is OUT. https://people.com/robyn-dixon-confirms-exit-from-real-housewives-of-potomac-8619843

BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos
I think the reboots would be fine. The shows are generational to the fact that you can pick up with certain characters and still capture the essence of the shows during their original runs. ATWT: Center the show back on the Hughes again--preferably Casey, Chris, Ryder, Christina, and Daniel. Hope needs to be a central character too. You can bring back the Snyders as most of them are still living. We might not have Jack and Carly, but you can still have JJ and Parker there as young adults. Have Tom & Margo resume the patriarchal and matriarchal roles. Have John, Bob, and Lisa in there too—some of the first major stories being the passing of Kim and Lucinda. GL: Center the show back on the Bauers. Preferably Michelle, Rick, and their now adult kids. Phillip can resume the role that Alan once had--constantly trying to run all his kids' lives. Zach and Jude need to return, both of them having estranged relationships with their fathers. Have Ross and Blake's kids wreaking havoc on Springfield and holding a grudge against Phillip and Rick for causing Ross' death. Have Kevin (once believed to be Rick) be drawn to Rick (like a father figure) which would unnerve Blake at times. Kevin would be conflicted between the memory of his dad and his current relationship with Rick. Meanwhile, Jason is more of a Roger figure, who wants to take Phillip and James down while getting his hands on Spaulding. To get back at Rick, he'd be taking a page out of his grandpa's book by using Leah. Model it after Holly/Roger's relationship--one that is toxic, tumultuous, yet heartbreaking for the audience. Clarissa would be mini-Blake. And Ed and Holly can be at the epicenter conflicted about the interrelations amongst their messy grandkids. The Shaynes and Lewises (except Mindy) can be off the canvas for a LONG time. Just center the show around the Bauers, Marlers, and Spauldings for now. I just keep thinking with all of primetime excelling at procedural and cops shows, we might as well bring back the daytime show that created the lane for many of these current shows. I think EON would flourish out of all the soaps nowadays if done correctly--the right amount of romance, murder, and mayhem.

I don't know anyone who has ever watched LMAD either. I am boggled that it has lasted this long. I assume it is dirt cheap to produce and Wayne Brady isn't probably asking for much. If CBS was to cancel the show, the most logical P&G soap to revive would be EON. It can be made procedural. And as I said in another thread, you can either pick up with Timmy Faraday and John Victor as the protagonists, do a modern interpretation with a new, young Mike Karr, or just keep the name and theme but a whole new cast of characters. I know it is hopeful thinking, but I pray The Gates and 30 minutes and we learn they are producing another 30-minute soap to take the second half of the hour. All these shows need to revert to 30 mins. He does now. Jamey Giddens (of Daytime Confidential and DAYS) writes for SISTAS now. You can see the vast improvement in the shows with his mini-writing team. However, you can tell that Tyler still plots the show. However, you can tell the actors are happier with the writing changes as they don't look dead in the face anymore when delivering lines. I still think his shows are sad (plot wise). Sets are gorgeous as hell, but no good stories to match. Do you think they might air classic episodes of Y&R or B&B instead?

THE TALK Cancelled, last airs in December
I wish the staff and crew all the best but I am suffering from a wee bit of schadenfreude.

Oooo! That is a perfect way to view what all has gone down. The show that killed my precious ATWT and the man who killed all of daytime (don't know if that's appropriate to say but my apologies) kicking the bucket. Pure karma. CBS, go ahead and make me happy by canceling Let's Make a Deal! We can bring back ATWT & GL as 30-minute soaps.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Well how bad Potomac was, they could've sat on that one and gone ahead and put out Dubai. Again, they need more cities. And I need Peacock to develop their own reality shows too. After the success of Miami, I still don't get why they haven't revived DC and Dallas. DC could've brought back Lynda from the original cast. Moved Wendy over to DC. Cast Meghan McCain's loopy azz. Then cast 5 new women alongside them. With all the stunts going on in DC, they might as well capitalize on it. Do a cast of 3 liberals (1 moderate, 1 waffling between moderate and progressive, 1 progressive), 3 conservatives (1 libertarian, 1 Regan type GOP, and 1 MAGA), and 2 independents. And they need to be movers and shakers in DC--political commentators, lobbyists, politician wives, etc. Dallas could've been Cary D., D'Andra, Tiffany M., and Leeanne with a batch of 4 new, diverse women. And they could've done an original city with NOLA with Tamica and Reagan from Southern Charm: NOLA and used them to cast the additional 4-6 women.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I knew Kenya was never going to leave. Bravo ain't that stupid. I am sure we'll hear from Drew and Sheree about them returning soon too. Bravo is handling RHOA p*ss poorly. Just make an official cast announcement and start filming. At this point, I am wondering if they are trying to swap Atlanta and Potomac back to their usual airing times--ATL in November and Potomac in April/May. Just cast the new women and let's get started. All this downtime has made me realize that they need to revive some shows (Dallas & DC) or add some new cities (Vegas, New Orleans, Grosse Pointe, Seattle, London, etc.) to the lineup. There shouldn't be a big gap between when shows are airing. Regarding Dubai, I feel like Ayan is about to overplay her hand this season with the Lesa matter. We've seen this tale 1000 times going into the 2nd season of a show. Lisa tossed her friendship with Meredith in the trash for Jen. It came back to bite her as the audience ate her alive. Kyle switched up on LVP for Adrienne. It resulted in fans waking up to Kyle's antics and she's never been liked since. Jacqueline switched up on Danielle with coaxing from Caroline and Tre. It came to bite Jacqueline in the ass when she spent the next 3 seasons feeling the wrath of Tre. Lea and Marysol went from being close to mortal enemies. Their hatred for one another made the cast split into two camps and they never recovered in their initial run. I feel like that played a pivotal role in the original cancellation. Brandi became pro-Leeanne for an arc and came up with this stupid beef with Stephanie. Then Brandi flipped back to Stephanie. It just made Brandi become hated amongst fans and her tactics to make Leeanne and Stephanie look bad failed. Even though it isn't a Housewives show, M2M owns this topic with Quad and Mariah. Quad led the calvary against Mariah for seasons to come only to get a taste of her own medicine this past season.

Soaps that lost their original/core families
I hate how they've reduced the Sugdens to nothing. They really need to expand them with some of the people you have listed. The Beales on EE could've been added on here up until recently when they finally brought back Ian, Peter, etc. But at one point, they all but slaughtered that clan. But their extended family, the Fowlers is just down to Martin and his kids. Sabine would've been an excellent choice. It is sad that I preferred her Greenpea of Rebecca Budig's version. But I guess that is b/c Sabine didn't have chemistry with Cameron Mathison, but was hot with Aiden Turner.

Oh wow. Like many here, I try and watch a Locher interview but I only find myself being able to endure 10 mins before I tap out. I find him to talk more than the guests do at times. And with the guests that command the room, he lets them rant for ages. I need him to make those reunions more concise.

Well damn. I didn't know that ATWT had backstage drama like that. I always thought the P&G shows were tamer than all the other shows, but I guess not. And that's jacked up that a director embarrassed KM over a speaker like that. @DRW50 thanks for that nugget. I did not know that Jane was originally supposed to be Samantha. Her and La Hubbard and the room together would've been EPIC. I do agree that no one could write for Lucinda like Marland did. She was his muse and force multiplier and Lucy got things jumped off in Oakdale.

Disney+ X-Men'97
Thank you, @BetterForgotten! Again, I hope that this leads to more Marvel animated series. Marvel/Disney would be foolish to not capitalize on the success of X-Men.
